i think its a good idea. heck i think it should be an option in the config file to enable it so that it can be both a child friendly happy mod and horror mod, but only for those looking for it.
While the removal of the horror elements is a bit disappointing, I can see why it was done. The dev simply wanted a cozy little mod, and the horror aspects didn't particularly fit. Honestly the "Playdate" mod looks cute, may check it out.
thats fair! i mean its completely optional to like download it, and its not the players vision, its the modders, if they wanted a nice little mod thats totally chill! we cant just pull on their arm, i mean, if people wanted it so bad, why not just... make one! or even remake it, just ask for permission!
thats the first thing to show up when i type dweller i didn't mean anything else by it but i just thought it was funny cause it kinda encapsulates how dwellers are seen anyways
It would be neat if there was an option to tame the dolls, as if you're giving the tortured souls another chance at life. Still makes it wholesome despite their appearances
@@i.r.3016To be fair, mascot horror doesn’t necessarily have to be bad. It’s just a lot of people who try to make it only focus on the part where the mascot is “omg spooky!!” And not on any further intricacies to the game
I could take losing the horror elements that were honestly ahead of the curve, but taking out all the little dolls and dollhouses for every wood type, why?!
Dang, I liked the horror part, since it was optional. I like the idea of a mod that can get creepy if you're looking for it. Sad the mod got revamped instead of just being made into two versions, though I can see why they'd change it entirely if it was mostly a branding thing.
Something new fellas, although don't think I did this video justice too much it was a nice fun thing to do. Thank you to the dev, Frogipher for responding to my questions.
When I imagine cozy I think of cottages and stuff, not children's toys and letter blocks. They've turned it into the type of mod Aphmau would use for her videos. They had a real standout mod and sifted it into such a boring, niche application.
I hope more horror mods adopt the approach of having the horror aspect be something the player actively chooses to create like in this mod. Could spice up the experience and is way better than getting nuked by a dweller 5 minutes into creating a world
To be fair I can see why even if it's optional the horror aspect would be unwanted. People going into this mod not knowing the horror aspect could see the soul in a bottle as a way to animate the dolls and make em into mobs but not know about the horror aspect. One second you're playing your cozy mod pack and wanting to animate the cute pig plush, next think you know it's got a blood texture and trying to kill you at night, I could see having a warning on the bottle would be a good middle ground, removes the surprise but keeps the horror aspect for those who want it
I feel like if they really wanted to they could have put the horror as an addon similar to how create has a bunch of addons in order to keep some part of the horror side around but still make the playcare optional. Also why does the sun plush look like daycare attendant from security breach?
Taking the horror aspect out turns a semi-interesting “oooh mascot horror oooh” mod into like the most infantilizing thing I’ve seen for this game, like you just shifted your target audience down to month old toddlers who is going to give a shit about the mod now
having an add on or alterative version of the mod that keeps the already created horror parts would solve issues of it not fitting the core audience and the affecting players not seeking it out. anybody who does not want the horror content is not going to go out of there way to add the horror part.
With mods nowadays having addons, I can see this one coming back as one, or maybe if the dev's interest in making a horror mod comes to fruition that mod just conveniently has soul bottles.
I'd be all for like a Playdate 2 kinda mod that brought back the horror elements. This was a fun idea since Minecraft horror mods don't really have a mascot horror mod yet.
I'm glad that the horror aspects weren't deleted entirely but just restricted to 1.18.2 and below, nice to have some cute plushies for decoration and also be able to include something spooky for lore/rp in my 1.18 worlds
Honestly they should just make two versions, one normal and one with the horror stuff back in. Also this mod feels like you are the guy that made the monsters in a mascot horror game. Like you are the guy doing weird soul experiments on children’s toys.
I like the design for the toys, I can see why the horror aspect was removed. That said, I hope they kept the "bring the toys to life" aspect but have them be protective golems. That would be nice.
I heavily disagree with the Modpack, Individual, and Branding reasoning, for the horror to happen you have to use soul on a doll. This isn't a Sim Endermen that you couldn't have stopped randomly teleporting to you and then bringing 50 other mods so you had no time to prepare. You actively have to create this by using SOUL from HELL on a DOLL. If friends are actively ruining this for you by constantly doing this despite you saying no, they aren't your friends. For it to ruin a theme of a mod pack the player must actively go out of their way to "ruin" it which means it is spice the player can choose to use. If the dev sees this, I heavily encourage you to not let other people tell you what to do. Things can be multi-faceted and should be multi-faceted. Something which only fits an specific niche never leaves that niche and won't be found by as many who want that niche. Being optional and unobtrusive was perfect. If someone says no to your mod entirely from purely optional and avoidable content, they aren't someone you want to cater to.
The horror aspect was the one thing that made this mod stand out, and they removed it completely? I don't get it. I think it would have made more sense to make a second version without the horror elements rather than remove them to cater to modpack creators that didn't take a closer look.
Well, even though the horror aspect is no longer in the mod, the code used to make it can now be applied to future mods since it seems their studio is no longer bound to the cutesy theme.
Completely removing the horror aspects kinda seems a bit lame. Like, I understand wanting to remove it, but maybe lock it behind a config setting or make an addon to the mod, so it's a tad more opt-in
So is there an add on mod/fan mod that brings back this horror feature? If not I will be stuck with freddy fazbears and I'm tired of those mods, we need something new! Please someone answer this comment I need to know
It's a shame that they didn't just make it a config setting. But I guess there may have been concern that, even if the horror element was optional, getting known as a "horror mod" would influence people's decision to use it or not.
I wish they continued with this optional horror but its their choice i guess... More mods should be like this instead of gobble goblin or (hot take incoming) herobrine mod
This is really annoying tbh. I really think the dev should bring the back the horror aspect or make a separate version with said horror aspect. I guess it’s at least good though that it seems the horror aspect was removed more due to rebranding and not some people getting pissy at a completely OPTIONAL part of the mod.
and? I think they’re cute, I gasped when I saw the pride ones. The creator worked hard on these don’t call them “disgusting” just because you don’t agree with it.
