It’s bonkers, but I love it! I’m a sucker for tenth of a second sub dial on a chronograph so to have not only tenths but also hundredths of a second on an analog display chronograph is really very cool ⏱️ Fantastic show as always MWC and it’s so cool that Seiko themselves sent you this watch. Great to see such a prestigious brand working with you 🙌
I’m definitely not usually a fan of this type of watch but I imagine people that worked for Darma in the tv show LOST would’ve worn! Makes me think of the little egg chair Will Smith sat in Men and Black and also my gas meter! But it’s so cool!!!
I have the special edition, the black one, and it's a stunner. By the way, in chrono mode, you can manually switch to time mode and back to chrono mode by pressing the mode button again, the chronograph will run in the background. At first, I wanted the second hand to work in time mode as you mentioned, but after a while, I love having just the hour/minute shown, different from my other watches.
I'd find it difficult to describe just how Jealous of You I am right now!.. :D I'm going to HAVE to at least TRY to get one of these at some point, I think they're Fantastic.
Likewise. I for the black Budapest one #467. The tenth of a second chronograph hand is literally hypnotic. The 100th of a second one looks like a helicopter blade. Also when it switches to chronograph mode and the dials do that instant spin it always makes me giddy. Only quartz power (solar though so no battery 😊) I own, and somehow one of my favorites.
Without seeing your comment I was thinking those pushers are so long they make the watch look like a dalek. Exterminate…exterminate…exterminate. Wish I could fire a death ray out my nose, maybe out of the watch.
My favorite Seikos are the RAF Gen I and Giugiaro SCED043 but I really like this one and the one that inspired it. Hard not to love Seiko when they come out with stuff like this.
I absolutely LOVE your mini shows about watches. I will continue to watch many videos about watches I am not interested in (and some that I am) for pure entertainment. Thank you for your fantastic work good sir. Greetings from Texas.
I bought one in the Seiko store. Wasn’t planning on it, but this is a very impressive watch. Bit too expensive but the combination solar and the 1/100 of a second is just different. Also I think this one looks better than the limited edition versions
I was put off when noticed the second hand wasn't aligned properly, a Seiko trait it seems, ive a 80s Seiko crono and its spot on,and my two later ones are slightly out, so when i wanted a daily watch for work, i got a Citizen titanium eco drive, its spot on 👌. 👍
The pushers just scream, "Sputnik!" Too 1957 for me. Although, the dials are "totally rad, dude". Honestly, cool watch, but I cannot handle those pushers. They remind of me Betty-Jane Werkowski's ears back in high school.
Looks really cool but I think it's just too expensive for a solar quartz, no ? Anyway, this is probably one of the best looking chronograph ever. Seiko really did a good job with this. Daytonas look boring next to this ! Also, your channel is probably the most interesting of them all. Amazing work 😊
mate your so lucky to have the Seiko man on your side i watched your episode about the Seiko rerelease of the SRPK 17 so the very next morning i visited mi ol mucker that has a watch and jewellery shop at 10am he called his contact and would you believe it they were all sold out and i mean he couldnt get one from anywhere gutted i tell ya a 55th aniversary edition on my 55 year on this spinning wonder of a planet would of made the year the decade even . i wonder if this one will sell out so fast ?. keep on ticking mate all the best
Love the look of this, for the money they could have put a nicer bracelet on it, seems the same as my Seitona.. and that second hand should work in time mode.. but it is VERY cool, I will be adding it to the “buy it if it is available on a decent deal” like H Samuels 20% off
@@deepb249 You will need to have the capacitor replaced. If unworn they tend to go since it requires constant charge and a minimum voltage that lowers the longer you don't wear it.. That was the big down side to these watches. A watchmaker should sort it out for you in a heartbeat! Have a great day bud!
I’ve gone all dizzy watching those hands wizzing around 🆘. Something different and a bit cheaper than the Zenith, not sure if I need one as my wife cooks my eggs, I could buy it for her 😉
Great review Russ! That watch is just cool! Definitely not my style (I'm simpleton, I'll freely admit!), but great to see something a little off the wall coming from a big brand. First the 1:1 reissue of the Seiko 5, and now this! Some fun things coming down the line from Seiko these days!
Absolutely sensational whizzy stopwatch functions. I'm not totally enamoured by the overall design, but it's a fabulous tool. Pricepoint is spot on with a discount code hehe. Great that there's a milled clasp, but pin and collar at that price level? Not so sure. 8 out of 10 for me ... Great review
SEIKO, what can i say? i own 2 rolex, 1 omega, still my best one , is the seiko srph81 wound X worn, special edition... a killer, frederic from PARIS, FRANCE, love and support the channel, always.
It's pretty kool but I love for Seiko to bring back the Pogue, the Bruce Lee Speedtimer or the Speedtimer Roger Moore wore in a View to Kill. 100p like the originals with no unessarsary changes
Very steam punk looking for me , a watch Jules Vern would wear , reminds me of a ww2 sea mine with its buttons ! I'd go dizzy watching the 100th a sec hand spinning !😅
Damn. Missed the premiere. Well in any case, as a huge sucker for chronographs, this is nuts. Damn near everything I want and nothing I don’t… no 24hr dial, no date function… just the core chronograph functions I’m looking for. Though the lack of running seconds is a bit disappointing. When I get back to. having a proper full time job, this might be one I’ll keep an eye on. Killer show Sir!
I almost bought this watch. I was this >< close...but, I bought the Seiko SSC911 Prospex Solar Speedtimer with the silver face dial. It felt more practical to me.
Thank you Mad Watch Collector for reviewing this watch. I saw the social media adds introducing this watch and was immediately intrigued. You have definitely convinced me of adding this watch to my Seiko watch collection. I just recently bought Seiko Prospex SSC813P panda and just wondering do I buy another panda version or mix it up? Hmmmm. 🤔
Not a fan of chronographs as I think they are just too busy. But the way this one is laid out, it's easy to read. And I agree about the seconds hand. It needs to be moving. First and foremost, it's a watch so.. be a watch, right?
10 years ago Victorinox came out with a 1/100th chronograph that is also a perpetual calendar, and you can switch between the chrono and the time on the fly. It's called the Chrono Classic 1/100th.
Hi Russ. Just discovered your channel and I’m absolutely loving it! I’m looking to buy an automatic field watch and like the look of a Seiko 5, any recommendations? Any thoughts on the SRPJ85 as that seems to be the latest. Thanks, keep up the good work!
what a Mad watch review. i like Seiko kinetics so much. i have a sportura divers which one of the favourite of my collection... thank you for this excellent présentation of this beauty!!! 😎🤣
I'll tell you: I blew hot-and-cold about the Kinetic-era Seikos of this design backnin the day: Yeah, Jay Leno wore his for years on his *Garage* RU-vid videos, but I never got warm-n-fuzzy about them (never mind the issues with a Kinetic movement watch you didn't wear constantly). I think Seiko seriously got it right with the new edition: Solar absolutely makes the watch a breeze tonlive with, while all the cool stuff of the old series remains intact - better, IMO, since I prefer the style of several independent dials encased within a "normal" watch case/dial. Not sure about getting onecofvmy own just yet, but I'd be way less anxious about parting with that much cash for this. (Which reminds me: with all the carping about Seiko's prices these days, can we take note of how much less these are than their predecessors?) Great review again, Russ.
It's out of my budget, but what a watch! I'm absolutely stunned, really retro looking, really modern touches! The only complains (except the price!) are: -the lume is just... meh. I hope it will last longer in the dark, for that price I expect a bright pair of hands 😊 Yeah, I don't want to use a chrono in the dark, but at least I hope to read the time... -the bracelet is sooooo anonymous... A 5-7 links, even shiny, could look better on that monster. At the end of the day, even if I can't have it, 4 monkeys out of five! Good job Seiko! And good review Russ! 🐒🐒🐒🐒❌
Not for me but love that feature where you can 'quickset' the hands. I have an old Gshock ani/digi and the only way to set the time (for summertime adjustment) is to hold the set button and waiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit. It's painful so yeah, that quickset is great forward thinking. Damn though, that right dial could take someone's eye out if it broke loose 😁
I have been looking for a seiko panda watch lately. And now You made this video😂 what do You think about ssc769p? It has the second hand ticking all the time and you dont loose hour reading while in chrono mode. Besides that awesome video, awesome channel, love Ya!
