Well that is why he isn't nominated. It's a political campaign to get nominations and then to actually win. You can't possibly look at some of the movie roles actors got nominated for while being snubbed for their best roles and not see the politics of it. Hearing which music gets the most play on radio versus what people stream. Tom getting played on the radio or on any mainstream MTV type channel is not what they want. They've invested too much money on their artists to let a bunch of unconnected "nobodies" in their specially curated spaces.

Granted they have to get permission so if someone isn't using a publishing agency or some type of legal contact then they won't play it. And frankly I've never heard of anyone playing this guys music. Which says a lot considering I'm in the deep south and people love music like this (I personally do not). But yeah.

They considered that a sign of prestige and wealth, i.e. the height of fashion. What will happen in the not-to-distant future (probably) is that 1950s look will return but it will looked at as the opposite of what it was regarded as. Those that look more "normal" will be considered the freaks and outcasts. Less (or no) tattoos, no piercings, natural colored hair and sensible/conservative style of dress will be looked down upon as society becomes more and more unhinged, IMO.

Now men are encouraged to behave that way and even "transition" to women and are praised for it. Real women are being erased and replaced.
