Have a couple of Defy duffels, including this one and totally agree with you: excellent bag but really should have some shoulder strap padding for the price. Picked up the Tom Bihn Absolute Shoulder Strap to pair with this and you’re right, it’s a perfect pair. Totally solved the comfort issue. Keep up the great work, George!

I’ve got a couple of Defy Fire Edition pouches. The ballistic fabric that Defy is using IS incredible. And the fire edition stuff looks fantastic!

I really dig the aesthetic of this. I don’t think it will replace my Patagonia Blackhole, which is truly a beast of a duffle, but I’ll be recommending this bag to people who need a serious travel bag overhaul.

Thanks for the video, George. I use the Defy Overnighter all the time and it still looks brand new- a testament to the 1050D and build construction. I wasn't initially interested in this, but I think I'll have a look closer to Christmas. I love that this is built like an old school duffle instead of forcing you to carry it like a large backpack similar to how most manufacturer's treat duffles now. Would love to see a shoulder pad included in the price, perhaps in place of the backpack straps since I suspect most will carry this in hand or across the chest/shoulder. The seatbelt webbing straps have always been my main complaint about Defy backpacks and is the reason why I never kept any :) Chris could really use a proper designer to come in and update these.

Great video, George. Cool duffel. I agree with your point about the thin shoulder straps, but I would also say this is an issue with all of their backpacks. I have the Defy Bucktown, & really like it, but under even moderate weight the straps dig in uncomfortably. Hopefully they revise their straps soon.

Great review as ever George. I like the flap opening and the high visibility interior but I think the seatbelt webbing always looks cheap on any bag, so wouldn't buy it just because of that. I know it's tough and practical, but it's not a look I like.

How does seatbelt webbing make it look cheap? That stuff is really only found on premium bags. I think most would have the opposite opinion.

George can you explain what zipper is used in the main opening? Defy's website lists it as an aqua guard vislon, but it look like regular aquaguard. Thanks!

Super nice bag, but not for me. With the exchange rate, out of country shipping, & duties, it would probably be double the price…maybe even more than double. Awesome bag, though.
