This is a cry for help basically. The PC version is riddled with modders and hackers trying to get people banned by spawning chests with gold in it.

A game almost totally abandoned by the devs wins a Labor of Love award. This makes all kind of sense.

Honestly, it's hilarious. While I do genuinely feel sorry for the devs who actually deserved to win, hopefully Rockstar will get the joke and put some effort into Red Dead this year. The first test will be whether anyone remembers to push the newswire button on Tuesday.

Yep, players of RDO on PC (Steam) has teamed up and promoted RDO for the award and voted for it later when it got picked out. A community desprate cry for R* to do something about the issues with constant crashes and other stuff that is just getting worse and makes the game pretty unplayable at all.

Its a joke as well as a bit of a cry for help, one last hail mary if you will, just like the save RDO hashtag, its to get rockstars attention and address it.

As a long term player Rockstar are guilty of having the longest ever broken game in history SEVENTEEN MONTHS it took to fix Moonshiners update its ridiculous dunno why i even still have it - then you remember how epic the story mode was

If they’d received this award in 2021 maybe I’d have thought it was real..but now? And on steam? Nah not a chance this was an actual player base voted award.

The wild part is there are more new players than ever before. People are still very active on this game… even those of us who should have left years ago. It could have been just as good as GTA because people of all ages, lifestyles, genders, nationality, etc play this game. Rockstar blew it 100% because it was a slow burner unlike GTA’s well established core base propping it up. You can’t compare the two but they made an executive decision prematurely.

Shout out to the modders who did a great job. This award belongs to you. I don't have a gaming pc but if I did, I would be rocking those mods

This is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard this game was abandoned more than 2 years ago, I don't play any of the other games on the list but I still feel they are all way more deserving of this award. Which is an absolute pity as RDO is the only online game I ever played for more than a few weeks, I was there from day one until they confirmed it was abandoned and still occasionally log in just to appreciate what the game could have been

Of course it's a joke, people have been trolling a lot during this edition of the Steam awards, some articles talks about this. I mean STARFIELD, among all games, won "most innovative gameplay" while the common critique is that it plays like a game from 2008 (because Bethesda never changed their core formula since F3). Back in 2008 the internet basically pushed Rick Astley to the top of the MTV music awards, just for the fun and the memes, this isn't anything new. It's either trolling or Rockstar's employees being paid to upvote their own game :D

People who vote don't read the descriptions of each category end up thinking "Labor of Love" means "The game was developed with genuine care and love for the craft." Hence, the votes. Steam doesn't manipulate the results, and thus the win. As much as we don't like it, there are more people out there not reading fine prints and descriptions so they are left to their own what "Labor of Love" means.

It is 100% a joke, RDR2 didn’t even make my top 5 games played this year on my PlayStation wrapped. It’s kind of a slap in the face to developers that have actually loved and continued to add onto their games throughout the years. It’s funny… but also very sad

There has never been a modern game more neglected by its developers after release. (Edit: actually, EA sports has several franchises that have been neglected to a similar degree for a decade, so R* actually comes in second in that regard)

This proves one of two things. Either someone put this up as a joke to annoy/troll people with, knowing full well it'd never go through, or that this proves that the whole thing's rigged and someone high-up in Steam reaally likes RDO for some reason, when no sane, sensible person plays or cares about it anymore, and everyone and their dog by now is fully aware the game is not getting support, it's been killed off for nearly two years now. So, yeah. Rigged, or someone's bad idea of a joke.

Yes RDR2 didn't get single play DLC but they all so did that to GTA an most likely not give the new GTA story DLC too as RS is F story mode DLC. now days.

Rockstar completely abandoned all aspects of this game. Labor of love regards games that are still receiving actual support and evolving. So essentially the community is telling Rockstar "great job" and please screw us over more often! Why anyone would vote for this game is beyond me. I love RDR2/RDO but it did NOT deserve this award in the face of other games receiving substantial updates.

People who meant to vote as a joke are insane. RS will look at this with their already massively inflated heads as OH, this means players are happy with the game. They will NOT see this as a joke. They don't deserve any award to be honest and HELL NO they didn't deserve this either, even as a joke. I really wish RS would just sell RDO to a GOOD group who will actually support the RDO community and game. It doesn't deserve the abandonment their "loving parents" gave them. I want Outlaw passes, added content, new clothes, horse stat improvements, the ability to CHOOSE where my camp is placed and more. I really love the atmosphere and world of RD but I detest what RS has done to such an amazing creation. The "content" they did add like telegraph, stranger missions, etc already exist in the game files so NOT NEW.

Sure this is a joke and shows once again how passionate our community truely is but nobody seems to be really thinking about T2 response. We all know by now how the quarterly investors meeting work and this is exactly what Strauss will use to show to his investors an "Ever Evolving World!" Does anyone know if these award nominees paid for that spot like a sponsorship? I could see GTAO being nominated and T2 saying here's a few extra dollars nominate RDO(to see if the game still has buzz, knowing our dedicated community and USING US for an award for investor meetings).

Both my account on epic games..After 1 year my game started crashing after 10 15 min off gaming..It tock me 1 week to instal it..Ove how slow its getting instald..After 1 year i hade uninstal it hopping after i will instal it back it wil run widout Crashing enimore..Now its Instaling way slower the ive done at the first time..Its become a joke this game..I love it but like this..Rader not have enymore..😢😢😢😢😢..1.28gb 0er second that's instalaition speed a joke..

The Steam Awards have never been a big deal. You nominate from your library and then vote on the "contenders". There was a troll campaign for several of these categories this year and, from what I saw, less than 10k people voted, so this year, the trolls actually pulled it off. Please don't blow it out of proportion or take it too seriously...other than the fact that Rockstar mismanaged and abandoned what could have been an amazing game.

For RDO there is away to play with out others ruining your game play . Me and my friends have had a private server set up for the past 2 years none of us mod or cheat. We earn our gold bars legit or even buy them from rockstar. It is only me and my friends in the server, so who is going to report us? 'Red Dead Online Solo Lobby in 60 seconds 2022' is the youtube how to video. You set up a file with a password and only give it to the people you want in your server . We have less bugs as well because no one is messing up the server with modding tools and cheats. No griefers as well. We're able to actually enjoy and play the game with just us. No clue if it can get you banned our not but seeing as they don't even pay attention to their game and have a auto system set up for banning , as long as you are not cheating for gold bars and modding on your private server I do not think your account will even get glanced at. As stated we have had our private server for 2 years and still enjoy the game. Though the lack of content is finally hitting us T_T. we are running out of items to buy and things to do. We even stated they could even give us minor content like More stable slots More Clothing More Saddles More Coat Colors for Horses More Weapon Skins and we would be happy because it would give us more to work towards . Love RDO , modders made the game unplayable. In all honesty I feel like the community ruined the game more than Rockstar. The people who mod chased people off it and made them not want to play. When I did give up on the game it was because of modders. I went back once I found out about the private server trick. I want to be able to play the game with out people teleporting to me and spawning in zombie cougars, or two headed skeletons, or randomly blown up.

Personally, I don't think R* deserves ANYTHING, certainly not any kind of reward or title, unless it's "the biggest company to continuously let down its playerbase, not only on one game, but TWO!". Nothing good deserves to go to R* when regarding anything from the past 10 years. GTA5/GTAO at first, sure, maybe. But the bull they've pulled and continued to pull regarding the game in the past several years, no, they're awful. As for RDR2/RDO, again, at first, sure. But RDO was so chalk full of trash, cheaters, game breaking bugs, glitches/exploits, regular bugs, glitches/exploits, lack of care for the game, lack of care or rather a complete disregard for the majority of the playerbase, etc. I'm one of the people who preordered the game because I actually used to believe in R*. Grew up playing GTA in the early 00's. And continued to play their games since. The massive and numerous slaps in the face by them is absolutely ridiculous, pathetic, and sad. Not to mention, heavily disappointing. But like I said, i preordered RDR2, played the story, loved it. I was there the day RDO Beta released, and still have my character. I was even lucky enough to not be screwed over by the bug that many experienced, where their original characters got messed up (physically) after an update, and so people's faces changed, like some pretty drastically. I've never went in to change my characters appearance except through the barber for hair, beard, teeth, and then elsewhere for clothes, obviously. So when i say mine is original, i mean ORIGINAL. I went through every update, good and bad, like when NO animals would spawn if you had more than like 5 people in a lobby. They took their time fixing that HUGE problem 🤦‍♂️ amongst the countless others. As much as i love the game, I've felt essentially nothing but constant Shaq sized kicks to the face from R* and their (after game release) mediocre "devs". Then lets not forget the trilogy release. Yeah, i never even bothered since it had NO good reviews, ever, as far as I'm aware. Besides, i still have my PS2 and original San Andreas and Vice City, if i want to play them, ill go play the good versions.

Yes it's a joke. To add to that, I don't feel any hype or understand anyone else getting hyped for GTA6.... Probably those damn GTAO fanboys who buy sharkcards 24/7 while riding on mk2 bikes. But it's just the same damn game that's been milked for 10 years, only difference is it's a next gen game & barely new map. I saw the trailer & the map looks very similar to GTA5 bruh. Red Dead 2 Online was truly it's own new experience. How many games out there are doing an open world Western game with the ability to make your own character & experience that Western vibe? None that I know of at least. I know I say it a lot & I'll still say it but it's a damn shame this beautiful creation of Red Dead Online, got abandoned for a braindead 10-year-old game that's been out since PS3. I'm sick of GTA news & content, chop shop dlc is trash & there's really nothing to be hyped for except the police cars. Because I quit RDO early when it released due to lack of content, I check back every month to see if any returning items I want are back. The month of December was really amazing with Moonshiners being double cash. I'm still praying & hoping that items from Outlaw passes will be brought back at some point.... sigh I'm sorry for the rant, & I appreciate you always updating the community on any red dead news. Even if it's something I'm not excited for, I still check back to see if that particular month is worth playing. I really wish RDO had invite only sessions to avoid damn griefers & also Rockstar editor so I can take better photos. I play on PS4 & have to rely on MTU methods for a solo session. Anyways thanks for the news, maybe Rockstar will realize they abandoned RDO prematurely? Doubt it but we'll see.
