I removed the popcorn from my living room/dining room ceiling. Cans of ceiling texture were recommend by a Buddy but I like your skip trail method.

I'm a paint drywall contractor. 27 years in new england area. Two years here in Tennessee. I enjoy your tip videos very much. On interior painting , I always roll my walls twice to a finish before cutting in. On the second roll coat, I roll horizontally at the ceiling and base. In keeping a clean roller, you can roll tight to all edges within one eighth of an inch. Cut once! Doesnt matter the color. With a good brush, top line paint whether Ben moore or sherwin Williams, and an experienced painter - roll twice cut once method . The amount of time saved is outrageous.

Ain’t that the truth! I would have removed it. But the homeowner insisted that the fan or blades should not be removed because they were selling their home and didn’t want to spend the money on a new fan. Because it was so old it just would of fell apart...😂

I'm a diy guy. I learned about you from a video done by Leah of See Jane Drill in which you both appeared together demonstrating a procedure on skim coating a wall if I remember correctly. I scraped asbestos popcorn in living room and dining room and hall. It had been encapsulated with paint. Asbestos is dangerous stuff. So I got all the proper safety equipment. Had to take the stuff to the dump because it is hazardous waste. 3 years ago I did the ceilings in the basement. Those were never encapsulated with paint. So they were much easier. But no matter what, it's still hard to get the stuff off. Using sprayed water from a portable one gallon sprayer worked for me. Taping painters visqueen on the walls, and using shims stapled into the walls along with 4 mil plastic also taped to the floors also helped. There are rules to follow, so if anyone plans on doing this themselves, it is necessary to study how to do it properly. Alternatively there are companies that provide the service but costs prevented us from doing this. I don't think encapsulation with paint is a good idea at all. I have 3 rooms left to do in the house. My wife's former husband and his friends thought it best to encapsulate with paint. After 30 years the painted asbestos had all manner of dirt and cobwebs and grime on it. My next step is to try skim coating over the last 3 rooms' ceilings. I plan to do this in small sections over the painted encapsulated stuff. It will be my first experience with doing any drywall work. I look forward to having all this behind me. DIY (with hubby, too). #Drywall We're painting our Florida house and have the exact crack problem you are showing in this video on our back porch. I was trying to explain to my husband why we needed to remove the old tape, add new tape and re-texture the ceiling and he wanted to just add some mud to the crack and paint over it.... : ( I knew my way was correct, but didn't have the info to prove it. He won. the crack is now painted. Looks good today, but I think it will crack again soon... right? Thanks for your video! Informative!

All we do is smooth walls and ceilings out, everyone here on the island of Palm Beach wants smooth white walls and ceilings... The porosity of quickset will show through unless you use a high build primer. We spot prime and then re-prime with high build from SW, seems to do the trick on eliminating any trace of repair, smoothing or skim coating. Thanks Paul.
