My lovely mom passed away this past Sunday. Graham, watching your videos made her happy. She always spoke of how handsome you were and how the cows wore 'high heels' (blocks). Thank you for doing what you do. You have touched people more than you know ❤

As someone who, as a teen, once forgot to close the gate (Well, I was one half of that particular partnerage of forgetfulness), I am to this date still remembering my grandfather getting the call from a neighbour then bolting out of the house to round up the herd because the cows were walking down the road. Yes. Always. ALWAYS close the gate.

That moment you stopped to pat and comfort that cow, and she responded, was very touching.

I really liked how one of the cows (a pretty brown one) was mooing a lot, and Graeme petted her and talked to her until she was calm. Must be really weird for a cow to have its feet all off the ground for that long all at once and might have shaken her up! She got some pets and a kind voice to reassure her. So sweet!

It cracks me up seeing the cows get lifted off their feet. It has to totally blow their cow mind to all of a sudden be "flying."

I would amend the "close the gate" to "always leave the gate in the position you found it." If someone is trying to bring in a group of cattle and they run into a closed gate they are expecting to be open, the cattle will be highly confused.

No matter how many times I listen to the music on your video, I always get sentimental about my dear, sweet husband. After losing him to heart disease in 2009, I still miss him❤

I’m not a farmer. Heck I don’t know much about nothing with farms,tractors,cows etc. but when it comes to you and your business I just enjoy everything and about learning things!😊

I own cattle and we don’t have any concrete ground for them yet I hesitate to put in concrete because for 38 years we haven’t needed to do anything with their hooves 🙏✝️ and we observe their walking and needs so I really appreciate watching you as it makes observing and learning what to be looking for in them YOFFW- your old friend from Wisconsin!

I grew up in small village in rural Lancashire right next door to a dairy farm, on more occasions that I can remember I woke up at silly time in the morning to our back garden being crowded with runaway cows where the gates had been left open on the farm. I liked it as they were like pets to 8yr old me, my parents not so much when all of their lawn and landscaping was ruined 😂

So funny how you say you lived different lives. I think of this often. I’ve had so many stages in my life, so many career changes. I’ve been a secretary, a travel agent an airline representative, a long distance operator, I’ve worked retail and in gas stations. I worked customer service. I settled in on a service dispatcher. I loved it. I was made for the juggling of many engineers and service requests and customers bi miss it so much. Illness took my career away. I love watching your videos. I can see this is where you were meant to be. ❤

I actually like to see the routine trims. It reminds me that the yucky, painful looking hooves are not a typical thing. I am one of the city people watching these videos and am very surprised at how much I am learning. I never knew that there was this much work in having cows. I thought just let them out in the field and bring them in for milking, feeding with an occasional vet visit when injuries happen. So thank you Graham for your videos (even the routine ones) because they are all interesting. BTW love the area where you live, gorgeous place

My maternal family still have a dairy farm in Co Cork Ireland. When many migrated to the US around 1890-1900, they established a dairy farm in Oakland (CA), one of two in this part of the city. The farm was shuttered in the 1940s as war industry forced new demands on residents. All this is to say I very much appreciate your care of dairy farm bovine as it grants me a selfish connection to my family history. Thx and carry on.👍

I have a farm literally around the corner but it is arable..no animals.I never knew a single thing about cows, they get milked & bred for meat but that was my limit of knowledge. Yeah, as you grow, life throws you many curves! I was a music major in college, joined the USMC as an avionics calibrator on helicopters, then a dog groomer, then a "Kelly Girl", then worked at Rocketdyne/Boeing in the Patents Department. Retired on disability, but still doing what I can: modding for streamers, and a music librarian for a community chorale. Oh, and watching you on RU-vid 😊

FYI - not cow related. I absolutely LOVE the stacked stone fencing! Here in Utah USA, that type of perimeter fencing would cost as much as the house!

I grew up on a large farm with a lot of cattle and hogs. They're constantly walking in their own manure, when they're in the corrals for the winter. In place where there's heavy snow and cold in the winters, cattle are corralled, fed hay, silage, and often corn. Those are all vegetable products. I'm sorry, I'm tired of all the flack about only grass fed. That's not an issue. We raised meat cattle. Hogs are allowed to wallow in mud and even their own manure because they can't sweat and would die of heat in a hot summer. Just a little FYI for those who don't really know what they are protesting. 😃😃👋👋💖💖

Ohhh my young man that stone wall! We were mobile. My dad an engineer and forever being transferred to oversee building of roads and bridges. Each move meant a different house and I’m telling ya he found shake and so forth in each new place (Canadian Shield) and built a stone wall around the front of each one. He created flower bed enclosures and all. Thing is we moved every couple years so now rural Ontario Canada is dotted with ‘em. I miss my dad. Anyway your stonework ‘round your house triggered a fond memory. Love watching your videos!!

I just love watching your videos. Was born and brought up in Ayr. My parents coming from the countryside around where cows were abundant. They weren’t animal minded but I am. You and the team so caring. I also love any scenery you show as I often came down your way for Sunday drives with my parents. From 1980 lived in Bedfordshire so far from hills mountains and more important the sea. Keep doing what you do and make a 63 yes old lady very happy

Thank you for explaining the bandage situation. As a retired nurse I love learning about everything you do - as appalling as it is to someone, like me, who practiced sterile techniques, etc. I mean, you don’t even wash the hoof off before working on a wound! And you can imagine how appalled I was to see a wound just being sprayed with iodine and let the cow go on her way through the manure and everything else! You’ve been such a great teacher who has helped not just me but other folks eliminate our anxiety about the sterile techniques drilled into our brains. 😅. Of course, cows are cows and humans are human so we’ll keep our sterile techniques for the humans. 😂. Thanks again, Graeme. You rock!

Graeme, greetings from extreme toxic wildfire smoke Calgary Alberta. Coffee and opera: My mother sang opera, musical theatre and civic chorus for over 50 years. When She was pregnant with me, she performed her last opera, which was Carmen. I’ve never known a time when I didn’t know or understand various types of music. I have a instrumental my music degree, but I’ve been singing 53 years myself in various groups. I have no intent of ever being a soloist! 😁 most opera or musical theatre are super extroverts. I am not.

As a person from New Zealand I have watched your channel for over 3 years now and being brought up with Dairy cows over the past 30 years I have really enjoyed your channel and content I love how you explain the process of what you do and the connection you have with all your viewers keep up this amazing work you do, my family land I look forward to your next Video.

When you chided everyone about gates, keeping them closed and properly latched it reminded me of my youth in Saint Boniface which is now a division of Winnipeg, Manitoba's provincial capital in Canada. It had the second largest stock yard in North America at the time (second only to Chicago's) and one summer (1971) a group of us very young lads would go swimming at the nearby Happyland pool. And as adult supervision was at a minimal, we young boys (we were all about 6 to 8 years old)at the pool would decide that we should all go over to the stockyard and play a rousing game of kick the can (we would hide in the corrals with the animals and when we thought that the coast was clear, we would run to the can yelling at the top of our lungs Ollie Ollie Oxenator, yeah I don't know why we yelled that particular phrase) and try to beat the guys who were it to the can. It usually only lasted one round because the cattle men would come running and chase us out of there. We did this for the better part of a week, until one of the boys jumped into a corral with a particular honery bull and he up and over the fence and he landed feet first and broke both legs in several places and gored his leg severely, just missing his main artery in his right leg. The next day most of us were back in the pool when several burly police men and cattle men (who were able to identify all of us) showed up and leadcus into the change room where they berated us for several minutes about how stupid we were and how dangerous it was to be around there. We all had to give our names and addresses and phone numbers. We had to sit there while our parents came to retrieve us and I can safely say that none of us were scared...we were petrified to shaking and crying. Each of our parents had to pay a 12.00 dollar fine (about a day and a half's wages back then) for the overtime that the Cattle men had to put in to sort out all of the cattle and put them back in their proper corrals. I never went back in there again. The following summers I was sent up to my uncle and aunt's farm to work on the farm. Closing gates properly is essential and I never had to be told that by my uncle or aunt!!! Thanks for taking us along on your journey, I always look forward to the next video Graham!!!

Although I am a city woman now, I come from a village, and although I did not grow up on a farm, I had relatives who were (or married) cow and or sheep farmers. Good nostalgic memories. Not to forget all the times me and my childhood BFF sneaked into the neighbor's house to pet his cows. 😅

I've been around cows since I was just a kid.. My Uncle and Aunt had a farm just down the road from my parents.. The experiences I had are invaluable.. They raised Herefords and horses and pigs and chickens.. Much going on at the small farm they had but much was learned too.. Now I'm not a pro at cattle but if one of my friends needs a hand I know enough to get things done.. Farm life is an art and a hard job.. Thank you for all your great videos Brother..

I do like how the cows don't look so skinny or filthy on this farm. For as long as I've watched these videos, I always pay attention to how skinny or clean the cows are, and this one looks really nice. You weren't kidding that these cows get phenomenal care.

Idk why . Im a mechanic frim ireland who never had any interest in farming or anything of kind but for some reason with rhe last 6 or 7 months im just waiting on a new hgp video daily . I love them watching and learning

Excellent description about when to use bandages and when not too. It actually applies to people too. Bandages are there to stop bleeding, but if it isn’t bleeding, the wound will benefit from air exposure
