She didn't kill her own people. I think you might've looked away when she said Glamoth no longer exists. Her planet fell long ago, but the remnants of their military are still fighting the swarm.

They had multiple planets if l remember correctly that is why they can use earth scourge operations since they have multiple planets they are sacrificing them in order to stop the swarm from getting other planets

3:50 Little not-so-fun fact: The Empress also was a pawn accordingly to the Glamoth Ornament set. Its also open to interpretation if the whole "Empire" of glammoth was even a thing. Another one: When she starts flying, that thing on the horizon might not be swarm... well, not just swarm... The same artifact says that from years of battle, Glammoth basically became a ringed planet like Saturn... except the ring was made of swarm carcass and dismembered Iron Cavalry soldiers that died battling.

I think in this case it was definitely the Swarm. You can see it was heading towards her. Astroid rings don't move like that.

Her final transformation at the end was through her sheer willpower to live on. Not every SAM was able to become like that because they would usually die very early

"She killed her own people" They are all already dead, dude. The nation she fought for is long since dead. But her and the other Fireflies/Iron Cavalry fought because that is all they know. Also, the ending there seem to be symbolizing her carrying all the energy and will of all the SAMs and strike at the Swarm by going out in a blaze of glory. That is not merely metaphorical. The suits and herself were special in some way.
