Papa Roach has always been an energetic rock band - just killer live in concert... This is one of their subtle songs. Formed out of high school in California, Papa Roach began playing in the 90's w/ Jacoby Shaddix (vocals), Jerry Horton (guitar), Tobin Esperance (bass) and Dave Buckner (drums)... They recorded indie albums before being signed to Dreamworks Records in 1999. Introducing themselves by MTV, Papa Roach made a hit in 2000 w/ their major album debut 'Infest'... the single 'Last resort' (which took a riff from Iron Maiden's "Hallowed be thy name") which also showcased Jacoby Shaddix's rapping skills (He went by the stage name 'Coby Dick' 😂) ... 'Infest' sold 2x platinum (2 million copies) in the US by 2001 as Papa Roach shared the Ozzfest 2001 tour stage w/ Linkin Park, Mudvayne, Drowning Pool, Hatebreed, Taproot, and other newer acts... More single followed from the album - 'Broken home' ... 'Between angels and insects'... 🔥🔥Papa Roach returned in 2002 w/ a heavier rock record 'Lovehatetragedy' ... but it sold gold (half million copies) on the singles - "She loves me not" ... 'Time and time again'... Dreamworks Records went defunct, but Papa Roach also enjoyed some high profile tours... opening for Eminem. Switching to Geffen Records, Papa Roach returned in 2004 w/ 'Getting away with murder'... it was another comeback for the band, scoring a huge single 'Scars'.... and the single 'Getting away with murder'... the album sold platinum. However, alcoholism was becoming a detriment to Papa Roach members as they recorded the next album 'The Paramour sessions'... it yielded the singles - 'To be loved' and 'Forever'... in 2006. In the aftermath, drummer Dave Buckner left the band in 2007 and was replaced by Tony Palermo (drums). Returning re-energized in 2009, Papa Roach released 'Metamorphosis' and scored successful singles - 'Lifeline' ... 'Hollywood wh+re'... and it charted at #8 in the US. However, the band felt that Geffen/Universal did not promote the album and left the label. They were especially upset when the label released a compilation 'To be loved: the best of Papa Roach' in 2010... the band made no money from those sales. Papa Roach countered w/ their own release 'Time for annihilation' w/ live tracks and 5 new songs in 2010 which charted at #23 in the US. In 2012, Papa Roach made 'The Avengers' movie soundtrack w/ the single 'Even if I could'... and then released their next album 'The Connection'... The band toured actively and followed it by the album 'F.E.A.R.' (Face everything and rise) in 2014, incorporating more beats and electronic sounds to their music... Their 2014 single 'Gravity' featured singer Maria Brink of In This Moment. Hoping to recapture their early success, Papa Roach returned to their hip hop influences on their 2017 album 'Crooked teeth'... it was a return to form and the album charted at #20 both in the US and UK... the song 'Periscope' was a successful collaboration w/ Skylar Grey, who had recorded and written for Eminem. Papa Roach persisted w/ new music and touring, releasing 'Who do you trust?' in 2019... 'Leave a light on' was from their recent 2022 album 'Ego trip'.
I have been there, grand daughter now 23 was addicted to heroin for 5 years, couldn't stop her, we kind of left the light on, getting out of bed at 3am to get her, she stayed with us, she is in recovery its nearly a year. Megan you did it. Use to give her narcam, she OD several times.

I talked to my grandma about these thoughts I have and she just listened. Felt better I still get those thoughts and I remember she used to say that with each generation the amount of suicides are getting worse. We tend to sweep it under the rug we loose the ability to talk away the dark.
