I feel you... and I've seen so many customized versions of the factory dolls that look so amazing, beauty is beauty.

I was impressed with the clothing quality... and usually, the clothing is loose on these dolls so they should fit ok on barbies. I wouldn't recommend overall type pants because the blythe torsos are shorter than barbie.

I like your comparison to precious moments. Yeah they have a slightly vintage feel... which might add to the creepiness. 😆 poor dollies.

The bodies are actually fake Pure Neemo bodies! Pure Neemo Flection bodies to be precise.

I like how smart dolls look... I haven't explored further than looking at pics. I'm scared to open a can of worms I can't close. Lol.

I guess the reason why the darkest skin tone isn't available in Matte is that they probably use a matte spray like Mr Super Clear to give it that appearance, and dark skin tones with shiny plastic bases (like what Blythe has as a head) is prone to having scuffs turn up/frosting issues much more easily due to the base layer being so dark and a scuff can look more obvious. It's not as much of a deal with vinyl heads due to the flexible nature of the material, but a hard plastic head is a lot more prone to scuffing/flaking. Plus the scale of the head makes it much more prone to damage than a tiny Barbie. I know a lot of BJD artists run into this problem when offering commissions due to how shipping or even owner handling can damage a matte sealant as well as fickle environment issues can delay a matte sealant turning out okay. (Like too cold and the sealant gets frosty looking, too humid and it ends up too shiny, etc etc). And then there's the issue of matte sealant possibly making the surface look lighter/more ashy on a dark plastic due to how light plays off it. As a doll repainter when I do darker skin dolls, I often compensate for this with pastels and blushing, but I can see why a company who would need to produce consistent sets of dolls would avoid this as an option, especially when having to ship it out internationally. If you do get the darkest skin tone option and want to give her a matte face, several light coats of Mr Super Clear or Testors Dullcoat should be doable. I just assume it isn't an option from the company due to shipping and handling and the subsequent angry customers who can't fix it. Btw the darkest skin tone Blythe has is roughly the same skin tone as So In Style Kara and the Barbie Extras #1 if you're curious about a Barbie match.
