Yes, very talented kids have more chances to get job after graduation, but many as well might be out of work for a year or so, to get in auto design industry. You need to be ready to accept and adopt quickly to any design industry, if job is on horizon. That's the moment when and where your dream(s) getting crushed.:)))) You wanna be a car designer, but ended up in medical industry designing new shell for x-ray machine, or thermometer, etc...:))

CCS is good school, but location is yuck. No one want to live, or be there anymore.

Why not, the location is the hub of automobile companies comprising the big three. My suggestion is to go there if you are an international student as it is also quite popular and is relatively more affordable than art center

Nope, I went to a crappy automotive tech school and it really did not do much for me but put me in debt. If it holds any water to you, son. This old man is very envious of you. +Imad S Except there's a shitload of businesses that can use someone with a business degree... and you'd just be working mcdonalds while showing your sketches to people who don't give a shit as a designer lol. I see a lot of pissed off business degree guys, they're mad they sit in an office and watch youtube and make money. I don't get it, I dropped out of college and now I wish I'd just gone for a business degree so I could have a company lease BMW and watch RU-vid and get paid.

I think there is also a a plan that designers would have to stick to for legal reasons like brake light being near the window not in length away but in height looking from behind. stuff like that really restricts designers and performance

+Che1seabluesdrogba11 Not necessarily. Most often, they work together, and designers and engineers both push each other to create vehicles/products which are enhanced structurally and aesthetically. Designers don't just sketch out a form and tell engineers to make it happen, they go through the design process together.

anthony reed don't think that way. follow your dream. emotionally you hurt yourself having a negative thinking. i don't know what country you live, b/c somewhere is too hard get in tge program for industrial design, limited number of student, like 10 for whole year. in USA that is different, automotive design is popular and school is more accessible. of course, it cg ost money, but that is for any school now.

Yeah, it sounds easy but not for me. In order to go to school, or even have a normal life, you need friends, family or significant other to get bye and I don't have any of that. Its just me sms I can't afford anything by myself. I tried going to Art Institutes but it I was barely able to pay for the first semester with grant, loans and money i saved. I praise those that do get to go and live the dream.

+Furkan Turfanda I'm in Industrial Design at Humber College in Toronto, ON, Canada, and I'm a person who was accepted to plenty of mech. engineering programs around Canada, and has many friends in mech. engineering right now. I chose design because I like to create and solve problems aesthetically and technologically. It's tough to understand what design is without being through a semester in a design program, but if you are concerned about job opportunity coming out of design, don't be. The markets are flooded for engineering and design, but it's your passion and drive that will move you up the ladder in both jobs. There's a lot of students in my program who dropped out of engineering because they weren't passionate about it, and they've all found where they belong in design! Just my .02

do something else for money and get the degree if ur passionate about designing and just take it as a hobby

the other thing to think about is - figure out wether you just love cars..or you want to design them. If you just love cars, get a job that makes you plenty of cash to indulge in buying the cars you love. Design, unless you're top-level will not pay you enough to do that.

I've only ever had two passions in life. Cars & aircraft. I'm studying Aerospace engineering and specialize in aerodynamics, which would enable a transition into motorsport & car design as well. A specialized design degree is alright I guess if your only aim is to design cars for a living, but it can be a bit limiting. I too am more interested in the aesthetic side of cars and have been pursuing it as a hobby for a long time. But I felt that in order to develop a more technical approach it was best to go into engineering.

+Kyle W It's a massive stretch. You cannot correlate a successful design with where it was designed. Look at the Toyota place in California (CALTY?), they have designed some of the worst crap that company has ever produced. In contrast, the C, D and E-type Jaguars were being designed in Coventry whilst there were still rubble piles from WWII. Some of the most revolutionary cars ever made were designed in dusty, dark sheds. During the video they basically reel off a list of cars that weren't designed in California but apparently some people own these cars in California so that's a strength...or something.
