One thing most fans agree about is that we are all both inspired by and jealous of their friendship they are truly ridiculously close and refer to each other as closer than family. Their authenticity is unique (to kpop especially) the fact they have taken huge political risks to make songs that risk political blacklisting (a much more serious issue in Korea under the previous corrupt administration, even tithe president did get impeached). The records they have broken in the last year are even more impressive than the ones listed in the video.

I think I've never seen a group that is so humble and supportive of each other like BTS. Sadly, many people look at them as "only a boy group". They don't know what they're missing. I'm such a fan of their lyricism and the way they put cultural references in what they do. Thanks for your reactions. This one was amazing!

My family growing up was the same, any issues that came up or anything that required our parents permission or approval was always discussed in private by our parents and then the decision was relayed for us, it had a huge affect on my siblings and I’s ability to address interpersonal conflict in our adult lives and is something I’m constantly working on with my work mentor as the thought of potential conflict gives me a lot of anxiety even if it is something that I’ve already dealt with. I’m from a Western European background though Canadian by birth and it’s been a big thing in my family that we have a tough time being completely open and honest with each other in person, we are more likely to ‘bottle it up’ versus working on our concerns. My sister and I are both in our mid 20’s now and both started following BTS together and while we were already starting to get better at communication as adults, seeing how honest and vulnerable BTS members are with each other has really helped our progress in sharing our emotions and feelings more often and more openly, at least with each other and has really brought us closer together. Thanks for sharing about your family, just wanted to share as well as it resonated with me.

If you are liking the more hip-hop oriented music, they do have that smattered across their albums and discography of course- but a good place to start would be the rapline's mixtapes (Agust D and D-2 from SUGA, Hope World from j-hope, and RM and mono. from RM) as well as their early work like the school trilogy (2 Cool 4 Skool, O!RUL8,2? and Skool Luv Affair) and their first studio album, Dark & Wild. Their music is best digested as an album start-to-end because they design their storytelling and messaging with that intent.

Thank you for this video. I also saw the video about the guy who almost made it into the group. I really felt sad for him ´cause you could tell that he misses their friendship. He even said that being a trainee has been the hardest but at the same time best time of his life. He didn´t seem to hold a grudge against the members but even admits that they probably wouldn´t have had the same success with him. I think this was remarkable.

i discovered bts march 2021, it was all because i saw a video on my tiktok about the Sewol Ferry Tragedy. im interested in tragedies and decided to watch many documentaries. i came across a comment talking about how they were proud bts made a song talking about this issue. i was surprised bts did something like that considering i thought they only made songs like dynamite. i heard spring day, and thought it was a masterpiece. then i watched bts carpool karaoke and became army in just a week LOL now im proud to say 11 months in being army and i still love them so much, and my love believe it or not is still very much growing

BTS logo = doors opening ⛩️, symbolizing having an open mind 🤯 (being creative/trying new things/welcoming ideas), open arms 👐 (welcoming fans/the audience/everybody who wants to listen). ARMY logo = closed doors 🚪, symbolizing protection; safe fortified cities/homes have 'closed doors'. It's also reminiscing of a shield 🛡️, tool of defense.

I love music, but I have never been a fan of any artist until I met BTS, I think I will not be a fan of any other artist besides them, there is no one with whom I have been able to make a connection as strong as with BTS. I'm not saying that it's necessary for an artist to have a special connection with their fans, but I think that's what makes me connect even more with BTS's music. I've never met an artist who loves and appreciates their fans as much as they do.

It’s funny that you said that you don’t know Jungkook that well, because it’s the opposite for me. Jungkook is the first member I noticed because he’s the main vocalist of BTS (he is a subrapper too). He almost always starts every BTS song and singing the chorus. He is also always centered in terms of choreography. Most of the time, he has the most line in BTS songs because he’s the most stable in terms of vocals. As RM said, Jungkook has many roles in BTS. That’s why when he’s sick, they have a hard time making the performance look balance in a way. If you want to listen to Jungkook solo songs, I highly recommend starting with ‘Euphoria.’ 😊

there are a lot you're gonna love from older bts stuff, since most of their first 2 years are heavily based in hip hop ^^ hip hop group songs: Hip Hop Lover (2014) - their relationship with hip hop (use the lyric vid by Jaeguchi, the first one isn't good) We On (2013) - a group diss song that just sounds amazing Ma City (2015) - introducing their hometowns (it is very rare for groups to have multiple korean members not from Seoul, and all of BTS' members are from outside of Seoul) the whole ass Cypher series (2013-2016) - rapline series, dissing the underground haters mainly (the live medley is INSANE) Born Singer (2013) - adaption of J Cole's Born Sinner, about their personal stories dissing the Korean education system/government: No More Dream (2013) - debut song, encouraging youngsters to rebel against the education system N.O. (2013) - dissing the education system School of Tears (2013) - pre-debut song, adaptation of Kendrick Lamar's Swimming Pools, about school bullying Baepsae/Sliver Spoon (2015) - about class system/millennial struggle Am I Wrong (2016) - released at a very politically unstable time, dissing the the government at the time (many artists were blacklisted then, it was very risky) all solo mixtapes as of now: RM (2015) - RM Agust D (2016) - Agust D Hope World (2018) - J-Hope Mono (2018) - RM D-2 (2020) - Agust D

So cute that your son wants to do a reaction. After Dynamite, you might want to also consider watching the Butter remix, "Hotter version". They goof off the whole time; it's hilarious. I'm sure he'll enjoy that, and it's also in English. BTW, although I can understand that you prefer the rap, I do suggest that you watch more of the vocal line, as well. There's still so very much that you haven't seen; you might still find some songs that you like. Their discography is extremely varied.

That video you mentioned about the person who was supposed to be in BTS but didn’t make the cut was on Vice tv and i recently saw it too. I felt so bad but he seemed so understanding and the other guy he met up with at the end said “if i was part of the group they wouldn’t be as famous” was so gracious. I really appreciated that they weren’t bitter. I hope at some point they get to hang out again with the members of BTS and talk about the old times that they missed. It seems like they were close at the time. Apparently there were about 30 guys that were Bighit trainees and kept coming in and then being cut. In the end it were these 7 members left…and now they’re legends.

@coomacp9194
@coomacp9194 2 года назад
Yes I totally agree with this. I mean everyone loves Rise of Bangtan documentary, but as for the other videos which I refer to more as being the Intros, we all have our favourites /preferences but you can definetly benefit from watching them all as they all offer something different and extra to what the others do. Personally I love This is BTS by xCeleste as an initial group Intro, then Intro to the 7 by Ida S to get to know the facts and whose who of the members. The Asian Theory video I think is also great as it does give you more history on the formation of the group, but is a bit more commercial (though very well put together and presented). I think that ones best to watch later after Ida S and maybe watching more songs/ MV's. It focusses more on group achievements, stat's / figures for awards but is not as personal as Ida S's in my opinion in getting to know them as individuals. To me it has more group song /MV spoilers. Ida S does have some clips as well of course, but given they are only 10 seconds each at most and focus on the individual members part, I don't think it's enough to spoil the song - gives a good teaser of what to look forward to and understanding of what they've all got to offer. And we've got the Sugar and Spice Intro which though is more outdated / incorrect info it offers some great real and funny clips showing their personalities which I think is why a lot of people love it. Then weve got the extra videos like hardships etc. ARMYS really provide a lot of great content. 💜 😁

I barely know any Army yet but the love I see towards each other just makes me feel so joyful. Everyone is so helpful, loving and supportive. I can feel love even though I'm not even in the conversation ( does that make sense?) I'm shy and I don't like to comment but I've started to very recently. So I want to thank you, for your time, the effort u put into making videos and for showing love and respect to our boys. One thing that I love about watching people slowly become a part of ARMY or a friend to ARMY (like yourself) is how people first start enjoying the music, then become curious about the band members themselves and then once they've learned a bit about the boys there's this sudden spiral of learning and enjoyment and this build up of a community to support your journey. And once ARMY starts to support you (or any reactor getting interested in BTS) I notice a small defensiveness for BTS aswell. In a positive way. Like when xCelestx said "-while some people still discredit BTS for being a boyband-" And then you suddenly go "why?!" 💜😂 I'm sure you'll enjoy Map of the Soul. Personally, there are a few songs that are very important to me: First Love, The Last, Spring Day, and 4 O'clock. First Love is written by Suga and he discusses his first love: music (in the form of the piano) and his journey with music. The Last is also by Suga but its on his solo album Agust D; he discusses his journey with his mental health and the struggle of balancing that with his job and fame (note: there is a "censor bleep" purposly recorded into the track. Suicide is still something of a taboo subject in Korea and our of respecr for his culture, he bleeped the line. We dont know what that line originally is, just what the bleep stand for.). Spring Day is a very important song and I would suggest first watching the MV, then a lyric video, and *then* an explanation video. And lastly, 4 O'Clock was written by V as his first attempt at production; RM helped him and collaborated. The result is a very calm and sentimental track that could lull you to sleep.

Given your interest in the Jungian influence in their work, have your listened to the podcast Episode 42: Jung's Map of the Soul featuring Dr. Murray Stein? He authored Jung's Map of the Soul (1998) which is a compilation of many of Jung's work, translated into English. In this podcast, he talks about his surprise to learn of a "K-Pop, Boy Band" incorporating that title into an album as well as discussing the lyrics to each of the songs from a Jungian perspective. He also authored Map of the Soul 7: Persona, Shadow & Ego in the World of BTS. So, no, not a mere K-pop, boy band. :)

I hope you will be reacting to Jungkook's new song produced by Suga called Stay Alive coming out on Friday. A preview of the song has already been released but the full song will be released on Friday. About the UN speeches RM was the only member who spoke at the 2018 UN General assembly and it was an excellent speech. They also spoke at the 2020 one but it was done remotely because of the pandemic but they appeared in person for the 2021 UN general assembly and all 7 members got to speak. Thanks for the reaction.

11:56 you should definitely watch that too! And the 2018 MAMA speech. That was when Jin talked about how they considered disbanding cuz of all the bad things that happened in 2018. Suga wrote the song 'Tear' that year when they were considering on disbanding. And you've already done a really good and a genuine reaction vedio to that. Here's the link to the 2018 MAMA speech vedio with English subtitles. (The subs starts when they start their speech) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-vVs710bHkNA.html

Thank you for your reactions! 😊 I’m excited for your Dynamite reaction with your son. My toddler also loved Dynamite, and is why I got to know BTS. After sleepless night of binge watching their MVs etc, I became ARMY! 😄 Kidding aside, I only became aware of kpop because of BTS. I hope you won’t feel pressured to react to other groups if you’re not yet ready. BTS’s discography is already so vast as it is. 😊

I think everyone else left nice thoughtful comments on this reaction. I love it and I'm half way through but I'm dying at the MOTS7 reveal because I think your aunt kept the photocard 🤣 Photocards are kind of like baseball cards. They still random ones in the albums and fans collect them. I shamefully waited for 3hrs in LA for the concert photocards booth. But I love them haha

If you love RM's and SUGA's writing, I highly recommend the rap-line's Cypher series. Cypher 2 has few of the most creative double entendres, fun wordplays, and witty references. Cypher 3 might just be slightly behind Cypher 2 in those, but IMO what it lacks in writing, it pays with better beats and melody. The Cypher series as a whole gives BTS room to dish on their haters. You can see how they started doing that in Cypher 1. With Cypher 4 being the last, you can tell that BTS has grown up a lot and realized that the haters aren't even worth dishing anymore and that's why Cypher 4 has the chillest beat of them all with lyrics saying that "I don't dislike you anymore", "I love myself", and "ya playa haters you should love yourself"

Thank you for the reaction, love your personality and how open you are. I'm glad you are loving your time with BTS. Btw, you pronounced Shinee correctly, they are amazing! truly a clasic(?) xD, I don't know how to put it but they are known as the princes of Kpop. I think you would enjoy their talent, but I understand the feeling of wanting to focus on somehting before starting another new thing. I support way too many groups (including Shinee and BTS, and jpop/tpop groups) and it can be overwhelming 😅😅💜💜.

You have surely received several recommendations - on BTS - among all, and it's probably a mess to know what to see, so I'll give you a summary and you choose if it can help you. - "7 members of BTS (update 2021)" by Ida.S. It's an individual introductory video of each member, it tells you the basic information about them, their roles in BTS and their abilities, but also it mentions a bit about their hobbies and personalities. - "Rise Of Bangtan" series. It's a series - still ongoing - that posts about BTS and their journey to success and the people they are today, in this series very well done, every aspect is covered, but also Korea, the Korean music industry and those around the world. It's really a series that contains a lot of information overall and informs you about everything you need to know. A reactor, Jim, had the good idea to watch this series, which tells the beginning of BTS and at the same time discover their albums and solo mixtapes. Example, episode 2 is about BTS's debut album, so after watching the episode, he reacted to this album with the context of how it was created. - "BTS Hardships (update 2021)" by xCeleste. I think you mentioned you've seen it before, so I won't go any further. - "The Most Beautiful Life Goes On : A Story of BTS (2021 Update)" by AsianTheory. It's a recap of how the members got together and put into a band, and a recap of how they've come to success until today - or rather 2021 - for this video. However, note that this video avoids mentioning their difficulties, it is really a summary video. - "BTS Army" by xCeleste. This is a video that will tell you everything you need to know about Army and what we believe in and the messages we want to convey. These are all fan-made videos. On the other hand, they have their own docu-series, three to be precise, and three films that accompany each. It's series and films that follow them through their world tours, telling the behind the scenes and we have some thoughts from the members who indulge in how they all live. Without forgetting "BTS Run", a variety show, which follows the members in challenges and games, it's all fun. “BTS: Bon Voyage” (a series of four seasons for four destinations), which follows the members on their vacations and travels around the world, we follow them as they discover countries and cultures. "BTS In the Soop" (which has 2 seasons to date), was created in 2020 following "Bon Voyage" because of the Covid-19, we follow them in their free time in a house, where everyone enjoys their free time to do activities, rest, and connect with each other. Well, I know, that's a lot of content, I hope it will help you know what to do and what to choose. Take care. 💜

I’m ordering Map of the Soul 7 next week. I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology and studied Carl Jung in depth, but it’s been 25 years since I graduated so I’m a bit rusty and need to brush up on Jungian psychology as well. I absolutely love that BTS created this album. In fact, I read an article recently about Graduate Psychology students doing their doctorate on Map of The Soul Persona, and Map of the Soul 7. If I was doing my doctorate now I would definitely use this approach. BTS lyrics hit so deep and touch on all the insecurities we may have about ourselves. Their music is healing.
