Thanks for checking out more Day6 😍 Loved hearing the breakup stories too 😂 If you watch the actual MV, the original Korean version, it paints a slightly different picture than the English version does. This relationship didn’t exactly have a clean break and felt more like a betrayal. They were pretty serious but the girl said she felt stressed and tired so she asked to take a break. The understanding being that they just needed a little time apart, but then she stopped answering his calls and next thing is he runs into her and her new bf on the subway 😂. So the bitter and petty tone makes even more sense with that MV. This was actually their debut song! Took a long time and lots of songwriting to land on the right one, and they definitely had to draw on some painful personal experiences for this but… I’m sorta glad they got their hearts broken? lol I got some great music out of it 😅 As for recommendations, I think I might’ve mentioned Rescue Me before, that’s a really good one. Honestly they have lots of GREAT songs but not a whole lot of English versions unfortunately. Doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy them though even if it won’t go into the car playlist. Their lyrics are amazingly meaningful and poetic even in Korean (tbh ‘especially’ in my opinion, because a lyricist/ poet/ writer will always do their strongest work in their native language). So the MVs with English captions or the color-coded lyric translation videos for songs without an MV are definitely well worth checking out! They also have pretty powerful storytelling in their MVs that add a ton of dimension to the music. I know you guys saw the English version of Zombie with the illustrated music video but the OG version of that song has such an incredible video that just tells the most powerful and relatable story. That’s another keyword with Day6: Relatable. Sometimes I feel like they’re inside my head, just writing my thoughts 😭 Haha anyway here’s some recommendations (please pay attention to the English lyrics. The title tracks have a music vid, the b-sides don’t usually) : - Rescue Me (b-side: lyric vid only) - I Wait (Title track- has MV) - I’m Serious (Title track) - Deep In Love (b-side) - Finale (Japanese b-side. the song literally FEELS good) - Afraid (b-side) - Not Fine (b-side) - Cover (b-side) - Man in a Movie (b-side) Ok lemme stop there because I could go on and on 😅 Looking forward to more Day6!

"So the MVs with English captions or the color-coded lyric translation videos for songs without an MV are definitely well worth checking out!" I get that you're super into K-Pop and all, but let's talk about those "color-coded lyric videos" for a sec. You're making the mistake that many in the K-Pop fandom make of thinking that those "color-coded lyric videos" are accurate translations. They aren't. They just take the Korean lyrics, run them through a machine translator, and boom - post them up. So those videos you're directing people are presenting a mistranslation of the lyrics. Also, lot of the folks making those videos and so called "translations" aren't even native English speakers. Another thing, I've seen you in the comments on their reaction to "Zombie" doing something similar that you are doing here which is trying to make people feel like they're missing out if they watch the English version. But the thing is that the English versions of "Zombie" and "Congratulations" are fantastic and can easily be argued by anyone to even be better than the Korean version. Just look at how much joy and excitement the reactors get from watching the English versions. It's a bummer to then come in and imply that the English versions are somehow inferior. Let's just appreciate the incredible talent and hard work that goes into these songs, yeah? Speaking of lyrics, bringing up the "Congratulations" music video like it's the definitive interpretation of the song's meaning, and implying that the English version is inferior? Nah, that's just not accurate. Most music videos don't fully reflect the lyrics of a song. They might take some inspiration, but they often go off and do their own thing. Heck, some videos have zero connection to the actual song. So it's kind of misguided to even bring that up, and it's a bit odd to use it as a reason to discourage people who clearly dig the English versions (which are great) from listening to them again. Most people want to be able to sing along to the lyrics, not just understand them. And let's face it, not everyone's gonna learn Korean pronunciation just to jam out to some tunes. The lady in the video said she added "Zombie" to her playlist because she loved the English version. That means she can sing her heart out to it. If she'd heard the Korean version first, that probably wouldn't have happened. The English versions of "Zombie" and "Congratulations" capture the general meaning of the Korean lyrics and they're also straight-up great lyrics in their own right. I know you say you prefer the Korean versions but that is mostly likely due to you being used to hearing that version so many times. But if you see over and over again that people are loving the English versions, then it just makes sense to have them see those versions first because in the end it will only help Day6. It's a win-win for everybody, you know what I mean?

Thank you for reminding me that this english version exists. I'm just so used to hearing their original korean version that hearing the english version will always feel so new to me. But yes, I have heard the english version a handful of times I just tend to forget it exists. 🤭

I am a 58 yr. old white woman living in Minnesota, who happens to be a HUGE Day 6 fan!! My husband is Korean-American, and grew up here in Minnesota. He actually got me into BTS first, then I became partial to Day 6, since they were an actual band. Also, the fact that they have 4 lead singers, who are all very good, makes them more unique to me. The drummer, (and youngest) Dowoon, doesn't have the vocal abilities the other 4 have, but you will hear him doing a short line here and there in some songs! He makes up for his lack of vocal talent with his AMAZING drumming talent! So good! Sadly, Day 6 as we knew them is currently not together. Jae Park (the only American in the group) had a parting of ways with JYP, and his contact was not renewed. He is currently back home in L.A. doing his own music under the name "Eaj" (Jae backwards). He's quite talented! The other 4 have all recently completed their required duty time in the Korean armed forces, so hopefully as least the four of them will start writing and making music together again. All the BTS members have also entered the Korean military now, to complete their required service. They are currently on hiatus until they have all completed their time. I am also a fan of The Rose and Woosung, who is also an American from L.A. In fact he and Jae Park are buddies. You've already done reaction videos to my most favorite Day 6 songs, but there are plenty more, of course! In fact, Young K (Day 6 bass player/singer), has a new album out. A couple of really good songs on that one. And The Rose's last album, I believe is entirely in English. If you have not yet heard the song "Wonder" from The Rose, PLEASE check it out! I love it!! Sorry this was so long! Thanks for reading!!
