Rock and especially Metal gives you ENERGY. It takes control over your body as it pumps you up with adrenaline. You can break into sweats. You can have involuntary body jerks. It makes you want to get up and do something, like smash your house or clean the house or drive down the highway at 125mph. Powerful stuff, be careful.

You always have the lyrics hanging out there... but you never seem to read them... the lyrics are just as important as EVERYTHING else when or comes to any music.

It's a song about how society too often gives obedience and control to too few and people and sometimes absolute power to one person and then the destructive aftermath that always unfolds. Dave Mustain the songwriter, singer lead, and rhythm guitarist is a born-again Christian. You can decide for yourself how evil that makes him ( I myself am undecided ). But as a Metal musician and composer, I rate him as one of the best. Check out Megadeth's first four albums for the true classic Megadeth sound!

He got kicked out of Metallica before their first album for being a raging prick, but he then went on to form Megadeth and become one of the Big Four in Thrash (Metallica, Slayer, Anthrax and Megadeth). The early albums are great. You would probably get a kick out of Sweating Bullets, which is on the same album as Symphony of Destruction. Try some Anthrax too if you haven’t already. Madhouse gets a lot of reactions but Indians and I Am The Law are great introductions as well.

This is one where the video would’ve been helpful in showing what the song’s about. It actually has a deep message about how those in power are corrupted and how people follow them blindly and trust everything they say to be true. Sadly this is very relevant today. This album came out when I was a high school senior and I had it on repeat forever. I was definitely not one who went to the hospital and slapped newborn babies. 😂 I got excellent grades and was a good girl, I guess you’d say, but music like this helped me get the aggression out and I rocked it. I got to meet Megadeth during this time and they were all really nice guys. I hope you dig into them more!

Megadeth are still around. Dave Mustaine, the lead singer and one of the guitarists defeated throat cancer. 😊 There was another guitarist in Megadeth at this time. His name was Marty Friedman, and as good as Dave was on guitar, he always had somebody better in the band. Marty is one of the top virtuosos of all time. You should hear the album version of Hangar 18, or one of the live performances of it from the early '90s. There are over a dozen guitar solos in it between Mustaine and Friedman, and they're absolutely wild. David Ellefson played bass, and Nick Menza played drums. This was the most popular lineup. You're really gonna love the fast Megadeth songs, I have a feeling.

That's the incredible and criminally underrated Marty Friedman on guitar. His style is very unique to him. I love his ability to play at such a blazing fast speed and still complement the music underneath. Dave Mustaine ( the guy singing) is an incredible guitarist in his own right too and he has some amazing moments on their other songs.
