The first Devil May Cry was actually supposed to be Resident Evil 4, but the producer for Resident Evil convinced Capcom to make it its own thing. In the original script, Dante was going to be Leon Kennedy, but soon evolved into a different character named Tony Redgrave, and then became Dante when the game was rebranded to Devil May Cry. The guy who directed Devil May Cry, Hideki Kamiya, is an interesting guy though. He named the character Joseph Frost, a character which died in the opening cutscene of Resident Evil 1, after Joseph Joestar from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, which isn't a rare phenomenon with Capcon games, they love JoJo references. Date's personality was also based on Joseph Joestar. He was also the one who came up with the idea of Brad coming back as a zombie in Resident Evil 2, which was cut out of the remake, but did end up happening in the Resident Evil 3 remake. He was also the guy who made Claire Redfield a biker. He then went on to direct Viewtiful Joe, Okami, and then created the Bayonetta series after leaving Capcom.

well, I'm happy you remembered that I got you all 5 games, I'm hoping that you do get the chance to play it and it's been around since ps2 I believe then the first 3 games got remastered, and the 4th and 5th games were released. I found the games and story really enjoyable, if you want to play through the games story chronologically then you'd play 3,1,2,4,5 in that order.

Fun fact: If you manage to beat Urinative in mission 1 you beat the game early (secret ending). I’m not kidding there’s 20 missions and you can end it this early

Nero, the closest relatable character to Yang aside from the addition of a double barreled revolver and a sword that revs up like a motorcycle. Best boy and some of the hypest bits of the series, especially his grab attacks. V is also great. His gameplay may be hilariously easy, but its also fun because its hilariously easy. The only big issue is his own personal moves are a bit limited which makes sense from a narrative perspective which is why his summons do the majority of the work for him but it would have also been cool to have a mode of V that could do something like sacrificing HP to start getting in on the action himself. High risk high reward situation .

So, have you ever played a hack and slash action game? Especially one that rewards you for being stylish? Knowing you, the answer is probably no. Devil May Cry was the game that popularized that. This specific game is the fifth main game, after a different developer tried to make a reboot that was a bit divisive. The story is all about Dante, a half-demon/half-human warrior who hunts down demons. On occasion, his equally half-demonic brother Vergil is his enemy, and eventually, he also runs into Nero, another demon hunter who can somehow use Vergil's fancy demonic katana. Also, for some reason , that katana basically replaces Nero's arm to let him use it at any time. Mr random short guy basically steals the katana and uses it to become a demon king. V is the guy who hires Dante and Nero to hunt said demon king down, for reasons he has not explained. Also, yes, the game is a little hard, but not Dark Souls hard. And its also immensely fun, and i highly recommend it. Can't wait for the part two reaction.

You notice that even Max0r can't help but admit how fun this game is. Yes, it's a somewhat niche genre, and the characters and humor may not be for everyone - but they did the impossible and created a truly great sequel to a beloved legacy franchise. Pretty much everyone in the scene names Devil May Cry 5 as the gold standard of the series now, even out-competing the nostalgia bonus for the previous holder of that title, DMC3. They did basically everything right: Took 1:1 what people loved about the franchise - from characters to gameplay - and just gave it a new shine. Just take the core gameplay, refine it to perfection, and just expand it as much as the story requires. They even managed to successfully incorporate several aspects from the universally reviled reboot attempt. And the story goes all out as well, gathering narrative threads from all over the franchise and tying them together into a plot that represents basically everything people love about DMC. Also the music. The tracks are fire and they affect your perception of combat so much, they're a game mechanic by themselves. Literally. The more fluid and fancy your gameplay is (as shown by the "Style" ranking) the harder it goes, dynamically changing based on how you're doing in the moment. Makes you _Motivated._

Funny you mentioned that the game reminds you of Resident Evil, because as far as I know the original DMC started out as like a prototype of sorts for RE4.

When you mentioned Resident Evil, you are not wrong. the original game was made to be Resident Evil 4, so the camera and whatnot handles similarly. it became its own thing and grew if you ever play the games, you have two options of order. I strongly recommend playing 5 last in both cases. first one is chronological, which is 3, 1, 4, then 5 the second is release order, 1, 3, 4, then 5 we don't talk about 2 because it isn't necessary or important. the first DMC can be skipped, but it does help put into perspective the story. 3 and 4 are imperative to understanding 5 and the advancements in the gameplay

In answer to your question of whether the game is hard, DMC5 is one of the easier games of the series on Normal difficulty, but it also has one of the bigger jumps in difficulty between Normal and Hard of the series. But on it's hardest setting, Dante Must Die, a tradition of the series, I'd put it at number 3 in terms of the hardest of the series, with DMC3 being the hardest on that setting, and DMC1 as number 2. DMC4 is the easiest Dante Must Die setting of the series, though. If you're wondering why I didn't mention a DMC2, it's because there isn't one. I guess when making the first sequel, it was just such a massive improvement over the first they decided to skip the number 2 and go straight to 3.

DMC3 is probably the best place to start, followed by maybe the original and then straight to 4, and then you can play this one. These are the only 4 games in the series.

The game is amazing you should play it, it won the action game of the year in 2019, beating games like warzone, apex, and other really popular games. Though Sekiro won goty because souls games always win also the reason it reminds you of Resident Evil is because Dmc was originally going to be resident evil 4 I think, but they changed it, but the dmc creator decided to take it and turn it into dmc 1, then they created 2 3 and 4 a little after, then after about a decade they made 5 in 2019, though there is the reboot which should be permanently forgotten.
