I can’t believe how poor quality this RC is for the money, it was hardly extreme bashing. Imagine being that kid who waited ages to get a hobby grade RC car and it falls apart that easy. Saving up ages for replacement parts or upgrades, you would lose interest so quick in the hobby.

Associated MT10 is good value. Hopefully RPM make parts for the MT8 for extreme bashing. Not being able to do 40mph without crashing, is unacceptable. Especially from Associated, we all know they can do so much better!

I've been waiting for this vidja for a while now. Knew it was coming. I've got this truck, and at first I absolutely hated it. Once I found most of the weak points and how to make it a reliable rig, I fell in love with it like my mt10 that I've done a Lwb conversion on. Got a playlist on that conversion if interested. To make this truck reliable you'll need the following redcat kaiju parts: Front and rear control arms. Front hubs and carriers Rear hubs Sway bars are desired but not needed. Then you'll need arrma turnbuckles; 2 packs- 5x50mm upper camber links 1 pack- 5x64mm steering links. Replace with these parts, and this rig will surprise you. The chassis is really strong and the diffs are very large. But sadly alot of other components were not well made. I've got a few videos about this truck and how to make it reliable.

WOW... the big brother was a total let down durability wise. Hard to tell if 4s would be the better power option with the parts breaking all over the car on what looked like a very tame landing. Definitely a back to the drawing board item. Needs more BEEF!! Great fun vid Kev !!! Keep them coming!

Had my eyes on this for a while, but after seeing the problems and your confirmation of them, I think I'll just go with its older smaller brother or maybe the new 4s outcast

After owning the MT10 I was expecting good things for the MT8, however I'm very disappointed with the durability. They went from most durable budget RC to least durable. Great video kev

It’s like they didn’t test the truck before releasing it. Traxxas and other top brands go by testing its like associated just made the parts bigger from the mt 10 and expected them to hold up to a 1/8th size truck with 1/10 durability.

I'm going to acquire the MT10, eventually. It's bigger brother, here, appears to be garbage. I like models that don't come apart in their first runs. Team Associated should go back and try again.

Seems like a pretty good RC, it would probably be a great toy and hold up fine for the average, normal RC'er. As for being Kev proof... Is there anything that holds up? LMBO It is nice to see and know something's limits though.

The redcat kaiju upgraded aluminum hubs and carriers work on this rig also the aluminum steering rack n the lower arms are a direct bolt on I also used arrma typhon 6s turnbuckles to solved that snapping issue hope this helps

hey kevin I've had mine for a few months and unfortunately it broke after just a few minutes. RPM is probably in the process of making new Arms for the Rival. The pins in the Arms can be quickly replaced with your own 4mm spring steel pins. and the servo saver must be tightened significantly. I hope I can bash mine properly soon. Greetings from Germany ✌🏼

Interesting, those Reedy servos are usually pretty good. I have a couple in my cars and they work fine. Perhaps they had a servo that was too weak? 🤔

You're always telling them that the metal chassis bends, but they always make it with some kind of metal or alloy. Marketing wins again, while true and tried methods don't help spare parts sales so yeah. Customers are always right, but who the hell cares with unlimited uninformed "new" customers out there right big companies? Charge more for less is THE name of the game I guess cause everyone's doing it so must be working. Great overview

I had the fastest car on the tracks! But the servos came with the radio you used, you picked them out then...ohh well, the Traxxas Xmax 6S is a pretty solid truck if you drive it with some sense... but you D E S T R O Y those trucks you get in LOL!!! When I was a kid everyone had a RC10GT.

To break both rear hinge pins at the same time, on opposite sides is on the driver not the manufacturer. Respect one of the companies that started it all & learn to drive. At this point your videos are about destroying an r/c first time out to boast RU-vid views, you are not reflective of the majority of the R/C community sadly

Hey man, Ur one of my favourite RU-vidrs, I’ve recently had a cogging issue in my Traxxas Mini Maxx and I’ve been blowing hundreds of dollars trying to fix it, buying new motors etc. Since you have been in the hobby for many many years I’m wondering if you knew any way to fix it. Thanks for being my inspiration for the hobby.

I feel like you need to lower the wheelie bar when doing speed runs so it might just bump onto the bar. Then again, with the way this thing seems to just spontaneously backflip out of control, it'd probably just pogo off the wheelie bar and launch itself steering-rack-first into the nearest tree.

For the money kev i do believe that its “Epic” 6s with a rolling back-flip out the box is just what we need for $550(u.s) Arrma has exploding diffs and Traxxas is hard to customize/upgrade and both are way more expensive. Ive got both and defiantly need an MT8. Good servo and smaller tire’s it’ll be wicked.

kev you should try the tekno mt410 with max 8 2200kv combo and 17/44 gearing on 4s its this car but better

Thing is Kev I watch many videos you do and you upgrade the crap out of your vehicles to make them durable. If you do the EXB mods it’s one of the most durable trucks out there.

The servo isn’t the issue it’s the servo saver that’s pants. So you know I’ve hit 74mph with my MT8 and it’s got much more in it I just can’t find the ground to do it on ha ha.

I Have one of those...IT IS MADDDDD on 6S. i Broke my back drive shaft on my second 6S pack. But it IS Fun to drive....but better on 4S. Thank you for confirming i am NOT as a crappy driver as i thought.

can you do a vid on the 1/5 Scale 30 Degree North DTT-7 Short Course Truck, i seen thunderRC put a MAX 5 combo in it and he says its the strongest RC you can get, hes got some crazy bashing vids of it, up looks just as strong as the xmaxx! I wanna see you take one for a rip so bad kev!

The hinge pins are made of cheese. I call them paper ha ha. I make Stainless steel 304 hinge pins for this truck as that is a real weak point.

That’s pretty terrible. On its 2nd or 3rd tumble it broke the knuckle & bent the upper arm. Which wasn’t even a bad tumble it legit softened the blow by going through tall grass. Then it lands on its wheels perfectly for a 10ft drop and blows out both rear lower control arms. Pretty lousy, a $500 truck that comes stock with a wishlist of must have upgrades.

This looks like the larger version of my traxxas Hoss... Every 3S battery I break something. axles from factory, total junk. arms? floppy. Steering? weak, floppy, destroyed a servo, servo saver is a joke also. No where near enough support to prevent twisting on the knuckles and really extreme toe changes under throttle. VXL system is awesome, but wish I had the opportunity to go back and get a Maxx. No reason to even bother with the Hoss, it's sort of an overgrown 1/10th scale, and it doesn't take it well. They should have downsized a 4S Maxx 1/8th, not upsized a Rustler VXL. Too much weight/tire moving around for the size components. Oh and springs are WAYYY undersprung for bashing. Just doesn't make sense. Really makes you wonder if they test these things at all.

What total *BULLSH_T!* the manufacturer engineered an RC truck with WAAAAY too much motor power for the design. That's like trying to put a NASCAR engine on a factory-stock quad! Too much power and speed for the design to handle.

We had alot of issues also Kevin the rear and front a arms upper and lower broke and it only was a jump not even 3 ft in the air. And whats up with the kajiu parts working for replacements....maybe brother and sister companys....check us out Pinhead rc thanks

Sometimes ( 99%) you should just say that sucks! Or that's awesome, obviously that steering sucked, like my Typhon steering servos that lasted 5 mins on tarmac no crash (Savox saved the day)!

If you want to play with an RC car on the road, get an on road rc car....This is a dirt rc car ment for the track, so take it to a track....But don't knock it when your the moron intentionally trying to break it and then it breaks...well no shit...even us 1/8th racers don't use 6s lipo to race we use 4s. And 2s for 10th scale. We do it for the same reason here...you can't control the car with that much power and yoir just asking to break it....
