How fast time change these days. I remember when movie stores still carried VHS and only had a small selection of DVD because it was barely coming out. Lol. I was watching Roseanne the other day and the kids were all super excited they were getting a VCR. Lmao. Ah, the 90s.
+amarillo315 I know, and at this rate I feel something will replace DVD's entirely in the next decade. Unless you count internet which is practically replacing everything already.
@@NostalgiCrazy based on the pattern, Blu-Ray will replace DVD. First we had VHS. Then we had DVDs. Then we got Blu-Rays. Remember when DVDs used to come with Blu-Rays? Now we have 4K & I don't see many DVDs these days & now Blu-Ray is coming with 4K. In the next 20+ years, we'll get 8K & 4K will be the next Blu-Ray & Blu-Ray will be the next DVD.
@@alexslusher16 First it was VHS, then it was Betamax, then it was Laserdisc, then it was DVD, Then it was HD-DVD, then it was Blu-Ray, then it was Digital Copy, then it was 3D Blu-Ray, then it was 4K Blu-Ray, now it's digital streaming and video on-demand services. we've come a long way.
Until Blu-ray Disc came along. Blu-ray Disc holds at least 5 DVDs and could only be played on Blu-ray Disc players, BD-ROM drives, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 or XBOX One. i reckon the big suburban thing of the 10s/20s will be video parties. people over 30 gathering around a vhs player and watching their old videos, tittering and smiling nostalgicly over the lack of special features, subtitles and pin sharp pause functions. the 70s had wife swapping, the 80s and 90s had cocaine and the 00s had dogging - bring on the videos... 'anyone up for Terminator 1?'

There are little contraptions(I think one of them is called Disc Doctor or something like that...) that will smooth the dvd surface out. There are multiple layers over the one layer with all of the information, so your stuff will still be safe, and your scratch will be gone.
True, but unlike VHS the DVD doesn't deteriorate with age as much (DVD's have a shelf life measured in hundreds of years) and even after that the data is still there and readable, just bits of it missing. Even if the DVD did get scratched and you thought it was a goner... no it wasn't just a re-polish of the protective surface and you're a go again. It's the sticky tape for a optic digital medium. But the re-polish gives 100% back, unless the scratch was all the way trough the protective layer.
I think I see The Heat and Eraser, both 1995 and 1996 respectively. (Heat is the scene before the 2nd floor house exploded and Eraser is the train explosion at the beginning)
@Thesurus02 DVD's have good quality in all its life time and not all those fuzzy things on the screen and besides all VHS needs to stop working is some dust and as long as you take good care of DVD's they aint gonna get scratched
