What a legend! So many players tell of the positive influence Coach Russell had, not only on their athletic performance...but in their lives. They say that "he had a heart of gold." I'm so happy that he had the chance to step out of Vince Dooley's shadow and build his own championship teams! He was always the "winning factor" at UGA...not just with the defense...but with the ENTIRE team. Such a great person and a great coach!
I agree. He was horrible. Dooley wasn’t a players coach. He was more like management. The players like employees. Unimaginative, unwilling too change, stuffed shirt.
