@@artibby1616 Not trying to nitpick i hope you know. I used to work at a RU-vid editing company for context. The thumbnail format is very bland, and uninteresting. It also doesn't catch anyones eyes either. If you know Smeaf, he was one of my thumbnail clients. You can even ask him if he remembers "Dean from Dava" and he should confirm. (Dean is my middle name) Anyway, I would say scrap the entire format completely. A good rule of thumb is to have no more than two or three words on the thumbnail. Another thing is it needs a distinct object or subject in the image. Having a format isnt bad but I recommend experimenting a lot until you get the hang of the Title/Thumbnail Algorithm. Title is important too. The title, thumbnail and the first 10 or fifteen seconds of the video should be a whole combo to "hook" viewers in for longer so you get that longer AVD, or average view duration. A very simple and effective style is to cut the first 10 seconds down straight to the point with absolutely zero fluff, and I mean ZERO. For example in this video your first sentence was "In this video I'm going to show you the best way to outreach for all 3D artists." Not bad necessarily but I would cut it down to *engaging opening music* and immediately *blender logo* *money symbols* *ch-ching sound* *maybe a meme if thats your style.* This is when you show your face on camera and give them a reason not to click off. Do this right and even people who have no idea what blender is will be able to watch your video. It wont be comfortable but it helps A WHOLE TON if you show your happy face no matter who you are or what you look like. Trust me I've worked with a ton of people. I would recommend putting your face on the thumbnail with some kind of expression to hook people. Also, it will boost your confidence, which is key if you want to be successful on RU-vid. This is something i copy pasted from a chat with someone else: The biggest issue with the thumbnail is that if you take away the title, I would have absolutely no idea what the video is even about, and because you are a pretty small creator, i would also have no idea who it is made by. If that's the case, the video wont be clicked on. This will make your CTR go down, making RU-vid stop recommending your video to people, meaning less people watch your video. This is why faces are important, people will remember your face even if they've only seen a thumbnail of yours. If the whole video is just a bunch of footage, or stock footage, its very forgettable. This is why AI videos will never be good. To be brutal, - include face, - thumbnail should show exactly what the topic of the video is, even if they dont read the title - no more than 3 or 4 words in the thumbnail (as a general rule) - an emphasized subject in the photo. - good color usage - is the topic of the video even good? Before you even start making the video, make the thumbnail, title and have in your brain exactly what the first 10-20 seconds will be. Hope that helps and you grow!
