SUBSCRIBE for more Kpop Content! CLARIFICATION: A) I completely somehow edited out the part explaining how "aideul" means "children" in Korean, which is part of their group's play-on-words in their name! 🤦🏼♂ Sorry for that! and B) This video is not designed to paint Soojin in any type of way and is only included to provide context as to why she's no longer in the group for those who may not know. 💙😊
Thanks again for another amazing video! I only knew their songs but my daughter likes them so I have to learn about them. this was perfect timing. Thank you so much for always putting so much effort in. ❤
Yeah, and 'cause it also mean "children" when people searching for... Ahem, for what you've said about female idols, but with children, they'll also see Nxde content. Impressive meaning hidden in thi song.
I like (G)I-dle for a number of reasons but I big one for me is the uniqueness of their voices. Yuqi's voice is the whole reason I started to look into them because her husky voice which I'm naturally attracted to in music. A lot of my favourite artists are women with deeper voices because I just find their voices so satisfying to listen too
I am a kpopper from 3 rd gen but I am casually listening all 4th gen grps but during nxde era , i became a neverland and started entering the fandom because I trust gidle for their versatility, creativity in terms of self producing songs, concepts. As a fangirl , i love how gidle always delivers women empowerment instead of trying to please only male audience like most girl groups did. Gidle is really for the girls and girls only. Super looking forward to upcoming comeback soon too
Idle have many male fans as well. Especially those who discovered them during the KDA era back in 2018. I still remember they only have Latata (one with 20m views and one with around 10m views from 1k) and just released Hann back then.
@@pattrickmerete For a lot of people in my circle this was actually how they became interested in kpop in the first place, male and female alike. The popularity of kda in the league community for sure gave them a huge boost internationally. Can't believe it was more than five years ago already.
There's simply no group like (G)i-dle in Kpop!!! I always get a sense of authenticity from their music. Whatever message they put out, they actually mean it.
I've loved G-Idle since Latata. I love that they're self-produced and that they use their music to create meaningful messages. Awesome video on these amazing ladies!
i just love how unique their concepts are every comeback and how involved each of the members are in the creative process. like soyeon shared in an interview just how much thought everyone puts into every comeback, from the album packaging, nail designs, hairstyles, teasers, outfits etc.
I’ve been a fan of Soyeon since Produce 101 and since then I’ve seen her growth as an artist. I was introduced to Minnie during one of Soyeon’s stage for unpretty rapstar concert and I have instantly inlove w the members and look forward to their group. Latata was an iconic era bc a lot of big groups had a comeback and debut but they managed to stand out! I knew that they will change the course of kpop the moment they decided to performed intro, dance break and outro alternately whenever they promote Latata. Not only that, Soyeon made tons of LATATA remix for awards show or year end performance w/c made fans look forward to them everytime. I’ve been a kpop fan from Beast/Highlight to Apink and they are now my first group that I’ve followed since debut and I have never regretted it. Definitely a force to be reckon! ❤
That’s so awesome! 😁 I remember when Latata came out but didn’t actually really get into Idle much until Tomboy when I realized that was the same group who made Latata!! Hahaha it feels like another lifetime ago! 😭
Nice.. I haven't watched any of the produce series but I've seen clips and I became a fan of Soyeon when she was on Unpretty Rap Star.. I made sure to keep on eye on her, so when I heard about her being in a group and being the leader, I just knew I had to stan and I haven't looked back 😊
@@ELmayberry ohhh I remember how excited I am when blue box announced that she will debut 🤧 What I love about her journey as an artist, is that even tho she had a big reputation during her p101 and unpretty rapstar, she didn’t just debut for the sake of keeping her momentum but rather she patiently train for more years w her members w/out any certainty that she will debut at all and really took her time to be in a group that she will fit in and have good relation with. That’s why I’m glad that the company didn’t add her in clc even tho she trained w them just bc “she was popular” during p101. Back them most trainees debuted asap after the show in their respective companies w other trainees who we know nothing about then just pour all the spotlight on few members then later on disbanded w/c is unfortunate. In idle case, Soyeon introduced her group during debut by highlighting each member strength while leading them w full force and make sure that we get to know ALL the members. It blows my mind how big they are right now but lowkey still underrated in kpop industry.
One of the best decision I made was following the cute, talented, rapper girl I saw on Produce 101...Jeon Soyeon.... Following Soyeon eventually led me to GIDLE, and I have never regretted the decision of stanning them... They will be remembered as one of the best girl groups in K-pop history!!
I've became a fan ever since their debut and reason why I love them, is because you never get the same thing every other comeback! Like sometimes I wonder, "When will Soyeon get tired making a new concept for them?" BUT OF COURSE I WON'T!
I remember being so amazed by Soyeon during Produce 101 and after that in UPR, but her ability to suprise us with every and each comeback is truly mind-blowing. How does one produce album where all songs could have been a title tracks? There is NOT a single gidle produced song that is a skip. I knew i'm in this yeoja aideul shit forever since latata dropped. It was a hit to all neverlands when soojin left the group, so I was really scared what future was ahead of gidle. To add to it, I struggled with bad depression and obsession with controlling my self image, but when TOMBOY dropped, it felt like a new world opened in front of me. It didnt magically heal my mind, but it helped me stop rotting in bed and do something. So even tho im really just an invisible fan, I will keep supporting them whatever future they choose after their contract expires.
Jonathan You forgot to add something!!! you forgot to add that yuqi in her recent songs had a collab with world famous singers Like JVKE and Alan walker.
i’m a new-ish idle stan, started stanning in november last year but was a casual listener for a few years or so before stanning, I only started stanning after i realised how different their music was compared to the other groups I listened to, so it was the 2nd group I ever went from casual listener to stan (newjeans being the first around the release of their 2nd EP) and I don’t regret it at all.
This is such a great breakdown of idle's history. Thank you. ❤ they honestly deserve more love especially Soyeon and the amount of online bullying she is experiencing at the moment. 😭
Thank you for this incredible video! As a Nevie since 2018, I’m so glad to see how much they’ve grown and I hope this video brings more attention not only to them, but to you as well as this video was so well structured and made ❤
Started stanning them when i first heared them cover ON RAINY DAYS by B2st/Highlights. im a Beauty /Light and when i first Heared them cover on rainy days i suddenly search them who are they and thier songs. i like them because they are self produced and organic. making thier name from the bottom to the top now. i like thier character individually and as a Group specially the chaotic part😂😂😂
@@JonathanMillerMusic your welcome i love thier song. uh oh,peter pan, paradise, all night, lion,oh my god and many more this is just my always first 6 on my playlist
If anyone new to the fandom wanna know about the Soojin scandal, there was no evidence of any of the bullying accusations against her. However, the school organisation provided proof that Soojin was bullied by others, She Was A Victim... About the actress who made the scandal a lot more serious, there was no solid basis for her accusations made against Soojin.. She went back on her words and changed her statements multiple times. It was enough to show, that mentioning Soojin as part of the bullying gang was nothing but publicity stunt. The actress might have faced bullying in her school life, but Soojin was NOT part of it... Soojin herself said that they never talked to each other in school... As the scandal became a huge issue , the future of the whole group was in danger. That's why Soojin went on hiatus which eventually led to her leaving the group... Months after her contract termination her lawyer published a statement providing the information that Soojin was innocent !! So yeah hope that clears up the doubt if there was any... To anyone who want to know more about her, she re debuted as a soloist last year with the debut album Agassy... It did considerably well with more 100k sales even though there were many misunderstandings about her situation. She is now getting ready for her world tour as a soloist.
G-IDLE differs from other groups because they don't go for the same concept/genre or what's popular at the moment. IDLE also has distinct voices and aren't afraid to sing live.
This video is very educational and entertaining! I had no idea the group was so international. Is it a surprise how popular they are in Korea? I had heard that Lisa of BLACKPINK was disliked because of her non-Korean background which made international fans love her even more (to compensate, I guess?). Lisa just performed live in France - there is a YT video which I highly recommend! Do groups or labels actually state “our music is intended for girls”? That sounds weird but if Idle had to clarify “our music is for everyone“, it made me wonder. What is your opinion of “Wife”? The intensity of negativity that K-pop fans are capable of still surprises me. I thought it was fun but mistook the MV for dance practice lol I believe the lyrics are supposed to be meaningful but I haven’t taken a serious look yet. I am positive the minimalism of the MV is intentional and symbolic, and not “cheap production.“ Anyway, thank you for your fantastic video as usual! 🙏🧡😄🎶
Groups don’t typically outright state who their music is for, but in several interviews Gidle has been asked about their themes of women empowerment and challenging gender roles. That’s where they specify that gender doesn’t matter to them. :) I actually liked Wife! It’s 100% them and I’m also a bit stunned how people don’t see that. The lyrics again discuss gender roles and the minimalism of the video is A) bc it’s not the title track and not supposed to have all the bells and whistles and B) is supposed to be silly and fun. It’s pop music that makes you think when you look at the lyrics. It surprises me how many people missed that! Hahaha
@@JonathanMillerMusic The minimalism of the video, the fact that the members don't mouth the lyrics, and the uniformity of the costumes represents how a Korean wife should be plain, quiet, and conforming. The lyrics also inform the listener that a "wife" should boost her husbands ego (even if it is a lie) and satisfy his sexual desires. This is the life of a traditional wife in Korea, and Idle is lampooning it a bit.
love this video! after being a 2nd gen kpop fan who drifted away for a few years, i have just started getting into g(i-dle). their talent is unmatched and i'm such a huge fan of what they stand for and represent. ty for this super fun deep dive
I'm a League fan and gamer but b ecause of K/DA I become an Neverland and since then I can't leave without listening to them. I didn't even like Kpop before since they're stigma on listening Kpop song if your a guy like me so I didn't even bother before but since I got more into K/DA then the rest was a history
(G) I-dle is the only kpop group that I had no biases at all. I simply love all the members. It's hard for me to pick an ultimate biases among them. From Miyeon to Shuhua and also the ex-member Soojin, they got charm that equally on the same level. Even if some members are loud, some members are a little bit on quite side, they did not overshadow each other at all. Well, that's only my personal opinion but the more important thing is... I'm proud to be Neverland ❤💜
I just started to stan (G)I-DLE, I have nothing but mad respect for this group, they are in charge and produce their own music which is so uncommon in kpop ggs, they confront the status quo (super patriarchal society) in Korea. ONWARD, LADIES
they were my first girl group that i really got myself into last year as i became a full kpopper, they were actually recommended to me by a friend because of their empowering lyrics and i loved them from the very first listen. thank you for this video, i learned a lot of things i didn't know about them! i love soyeon so much and she's such an inspiration to me ♥ i love all the girls, obviously, including soojin who btw had an amazing solo debut last year. i hope they continue on the path of greatness, they definitely deserve it!
I love (G)I-dle so much !! They’re so cool and so kind hearted too :3 🎀🌈🥮💕 ! They are so talented and all have their own personalities and talents >p< 🌈🖍️💗
Personally, I wish it was easy to explain why I adore this group so much. They're just so amazing that I can't help but to be in awe of them. It's also worth mentioning that aside from having members that perfectly complements each other's uniqueness, it's theur dedication and involvement in their music is what sets them apart from other groups. Yes, there are notable groups that do their own music, and (G)I-DLE is just up there. Releasing hits after hits, but also tackling real-world issues especially when it comes to women. Every song is somewhat personal, and that it's saying something more, it's a statement for lots of societal issues. Despite being scrutinized by netizen, antis and fans alike, they're still brave enough to keep going and striving together for what they love to do most. I wish them nothing but success l, health, and contentment in life. They deserve everything they have right now. ❤
you should also cover MAMAMOO as mini deep dive, they are like the ones who also broke with industry standard like I-dle and also they worked there way up with there music. also they took part in 2019 Queendom
Basically you’re just saying GIDLE is the best kpop female group of 4th and probably all kpop generations, and you’re absolutely right. The best of best 💖
Did you know that Soyeon wrote a song about Yuqi and indirectly confessed that she is/was in love with Yuqi? I can't recall the song but she once got asked why she composed that song and Soyeon said "I composed it for someone I fell in love with" or something
Suggestion: LOONA (and subsequently ARTMS/LOOSEMBLE and CHUU). It may take you a while and it’s not a MINI deep dive 😅😂 but the story of the group is so interesting and sad at the same time. And all 12 girls are extremely talented and supportive to each other 💚
What??? Not a big fan?? I love Blackpink!!!! 😭 I did a whole hype week dedicated to them in 2022! Hahaha Here’s the playlist link: ru-vid.com/group/PL91mxZkjAG3dhASUNCnNR4BRiII4EmXYv&si=PQxFTcSGM8knTh1F
@@JonathanMillerMusic Oh really? I saw someone commenting in one of your videos that you were not a big fan of BP and since i didn't see content of them in your channel i took with certainty their words, so sorry for the confusion, btw i love your channel and your deep dive of Twice, so i was hoping someone we"ll do a video like that for BP as well focusing on their career achievements and positive side instead of their artistic direction/negativity for once, i hope it was you cause you're very articulate and very educated musically beyond K-pop.
@@poptopics1772 oh nooo 🫣 I love blackpink! I’m critical of YG’s treatment of them (but I guess that doesn’t matter as much now that we all know the contract situation hahaha) but the girls themselves and blackpink as a group?? I absolutely adore them!! 😭❤️ In my deep dive on Lisa I have a section about Blackpink and highlight some great things they’ve done. Also one of my shorts in that playlist is about their accomplishments I believe. I might make an updated one in the future once we see how things develop with their solo stuff and group activities cuz it’d be fun! 😁😁😁😁
@@JonathanMillerMusic Absolutely watching the Lisa video now, I'm still watching the Twice deep dive cause the video is so good, i even think of sharing it to some friends i know who love to discredit their work all the time, and no problem, you're welcome, it’s just the truth, it’s nice to have someone in the K-pop community who does what you do and cares so much about work and music like you do, in the midst of so many toxic creators who spread misinformation and get away with it for views, your presence is needed i’d say.
His voice is voice is really annoying. Give me strength to finish this video. No clue why his face needs to be shown. Seems plenty of relevant footage is available
Although its already 2 months. As of March 2023 Gidle became the first Girl Group in Kpop to achieve a Perfect All Kill (no. 1 in all Kpop Music Charts) for a consecutive 4 comeback.
Honestly, you're one of the first K-Tubers to properly explain the (G)I-DLE name pronunciation in a simple and clear way. I don't know how many comments I've made explaining this as a pre-TOMBOY Neverland. Some of us older Nevies are all the time explaining the lore, but it's much easier when a popular essayist like you just does a video about it.
Omg thank u! I did my best. I’m still mad at my self for somehow editing out the part about “aideul” meaning children but I guess I’ll just be more careful next time! 😅😭 Hahahaa
This is probably one of the best introduction to IDLE videos that I've ever seen that it actually brought a tear to my eyes looking back on how much they've been able to accomplish and getting through the hardships in such a short time. Thank you for this video, appreciate you! I'll be using this video to share to friends who are interested in learning this group more as a Neverland!
Thanks for this! Something I can share with people new to I-DLE! Although somewhat popular, they are not nearly popular enough what all they do but besides being idols - conceptualizing, producing, writing, directing etc. So, videos like this are very important in spreading their word!
I have been following them since the I feel album but obviously heard Nxde and Tomboy. I love their attitudes and how funny they are in content. I like how you said that that their messages can get under certain people's skin but that those people need to investigate why they are reacting to it that way. They aren't everyone's cup of tea but I find that for the most part, I like a majority of they're releases so far.
Thank u! :) I know what you mean. I like that they consistently challenge what’s expected of women in kpop and music. That will always have my respect. 🫡🙌🏼
A fan since pre debut when I saw them busking just days before debuting. Proud to say, upon seeing them that time, I already see the potential of them going big and this is coming from someone who don't stan kpop girl groups and GIDLE just the only girl group who made me such a fan! They just exude different charisma from back then and they proved me right when they produced their own songs. Glad to see them growing each year and this comeback is about to be their biggest to date. Super Ladies let's go 🙏
The thing that hooked me into them was because of Soyeon and it was during hann era. I have been following kpop since 2009 and I think, I have never really meet a gg with real rapper, who wrote and produce their own song. Tbh I was being like "oh another girl on the rapper position? Not real rapper?" When I watch their debute, but then many videos about unpretty rapstar especially soyeon's video on my recommendation actually blowed my mind so I started to follow them and yep the only GG that I have all of their albums is Idle. And that KDA was also surprised me, I started playing league on 2019 and knowing both soyeon and miyeon are the member, hyped me up as well. Also their diversity with songs and concept amazed me. But I love all the members, especially after I watch that secret folder, they dony fake, they are funny and witty 😂😂 I just love watching their reality show
I love i-dle causeof how they mange to hold such powerful messages in their songs and cause the members make their music it feels like they are so much attached to the song. Also, yeoja aideul nude means female child nude not female ido nude.aideul in korean is also child/children.Great video!
please clarify Soojin is NOT a bully, she was proven innocent and recently made a successful solo debut with Agassy, people might think she is because of this video
I think the web search side effect with the name and nxde especially in Korean is even crazier the Korean spelling of the band name actually means Children. I keep the the rest of the math to you.
I honestly couldn't be more happy that soyeon didn't get to join the ioi ..and hope everyone knows how its not bec she isn't competitive and worthy to win the place but future had diff plans for the real queen 👑 ...like ofc she is the queencard ...😩 everything happens for a reason im so happy how gidle members are perfectly suited with eo likee if there was the absence of evn one prsn ..it wouldn't be gidle 🫠❤❤..they are like the most Destined to be idles imo ❤ like yuqi choosing the infamous cube over SM , soyeon choosing minnie fr her stge prfrmnce bec she wnted her to be seen tgt , and miyoen not getting into bp is the best one i hopeee she never ever regrets and second thght abt it :) ...i wish each one of themmm happiness and success all thru their lifee .
I’ve been a yuqi fan since 2017, and a Minnie fan since 2020. It took me until queencard era to know that they were in gidle tho. I’ve been a fan ever since and they’re my ults. I really love yuqi’s voice since I personally have a deep voice and it’s so rare to see a female kpop idol with a deep voice. I love all their concepts and nxde was probably the song that got me into them. I’ve also known k/da since pop stars era. So basically the only person I didn’t know before getting into gidle is shuhua. I still love her because of her sassy and idgaf attitude
The best thing about self produced groups like GIDLE, stray kids or BTS is that you can feel their identity behind their songs. Sometimes when i listen to a GG song, i can imagine 10 other GG that could pull off that song. On the other hands, i cannot imagine any other group doing tomboy, nxde and queencard concepts in 1 year apart. There is one group coming up strong tho. Those Nmixx girls are truly talented. I wish they were self produced too.
