I just want to say you consistently make me want to drop out of college and open a screen print shop. My undergrad is in graphic design, and love making and designing T-shirts. I just don’t know how to get a shop similar to your first one. Anyways, you inspire me every day to pursue my dreams. Thank you
First off don't drop out of school. Education is key. Be patient and finish school then pursue screenwriting. Or if you can handle both by slowly getting in to screemprint then do it. It is exciting.
Amazing to hear that. I'm not going to tell you which way to go like a lot would, I dropped out of high school in the 10th grade so I'm either a good or a bad example here 😂. Finishing school is probably good for a back up plan though. Either way keep putting in the work and you'll get that shop 🤘🏻
It’d be bad ass if you had another channel for the more workflow/unboxing/stuff you don’t think would be “good enough” for this channel. More of a behind the scenes, not so much of a vlog but more Timelapse style material. Stuff people could play in the background of their shops while also hustling on their own orders. I love watching other people working production and I think many are the same way.

Excellent work! I do have one suggestion. Keep the scrap wood screen coater! I’m 12 years in, 2 autos, etc, and it’s the only thing I refuse to upgrade. It’s nice to have a little reminder of where we came from.
I think that'll be my first hat heat press for me, that's the first thing I could afford to buy 4 years ago and it's what started this whole thing. Maybe I'll get it bronzed 😂
Congrats on the new exposure unit. Your gonna love it. I just converted my old X factor into a single point with LED and we get 91 LPI all day on it using base layer. Insane detail that it can hold. Enjoy!
@@leestuart38 yeah you should be able to do just about anything you want haha. You will have almost no limitations with art now. And the ROQ can handle anything you throw at it. We have basically the same Press as you. Been running it for about 3 years. Your gonna love it. Get yourself a good press operator and you should be good to go.

It took me all day to get the crate open and wheels on. The hex bolts are not normal size and stripped immediately. Drill, Grinder, Pliers, finally vice grips worked.

You mentioned needing some magnets to hold some of the frames… you may want to look into the “magswitches” invented by fellow RU-vidr Andrew Klein… easy to use, and always come in handy.
What is the plan for the dark area? Will you use curtains and add more yellow lights? Where and how will you cure the coated screens? It's your space, but shouldn't the screen rack be away from the spray rinse? It will also make it easier to work in that area without having to walk around the rack. Can you do a video just on the exposure light and show why it's so much better? Great Vids! Thanks for all the info, your videos are very helpful.
A lot of people are not aware but the LED lights in a shop will not affect exposure time and will not expose your screens. You don't need to have a dark room if you have LED lighting.
No dark room here, no need for it. Everything in here is LED which doesn't give off enough UV to harm anything. The rack is for reclaim, only dirty screens on there so it belongs beside the washout. I have a drying cabinet for coated screens and another rolling 20 screen rack for added storage
Anytype of LED lighting is fine? I switched my shop’s light with LED bulbs but didn’t know I could coat my screen outside of my tiny darkroom where i keep my screens to dry.
Just curious if you will be framing in around the washout booth and screen exposure area eventually, or if the new equipment makes it so it's not necessary?
Don't know if single point or multi exposure Unit makes a difference with led units (metal halide single point always) l surely prefer the compact types like m&r units that can just be placed on a table. Otherwise cool set-up you got going in there

The divider curtains are only to take care of any back spray from the washout booth. I'm not building a dark room in here, everything is led lighting so I don't need it

Still love the exposure unit? I just found one used Only for about 6 months from a shop in my area and since I’ve bought some of there other equipment they said I can have it for $4,000. Just Curious 😁💖
Cheaper ferritic stainless steels are magnetic, the stuff that's on things like household appliances. Pretty sure that's what's on these tables just by looking at them. It's typically only high grade stainless like 316 that isn't magnetic
How long can he have his shop not producing anything? When I moved, i had to be up and running in no more than a couple of days. No production, no income.
What happened to your old equipment (washout booth, exposure unit, etc)??? Sold it directly or went back to Ryonet for upgrades? I'm looking to move to a bigger space in about 2-3 months and some of the equipment I bought originally was purchased because of size and working out the basement but moving to an industrial space I can get bigger more efficient equipment. But now the question is what's the best way to get rid of the older equipment? Would love to hear what you did. Also congrats on the move
I had a local buyer ready to go before I moved. It was a friend who was printing on a smaller scale and ready to step up to something bigger so they took everything

So I’m about to start my own screen printing company. I’m used to how the shop I work for runs and watching your videos on how high quality everything is done. I guess I had to see it with me own eyes but they really did everything wrong and it all looked mediocre.
I just have to say thank you so much for making these videos. If it weren’t for you I wouldn’t be starting my own business. You’re such a light and have shown me how to do this right. (I honestly had a sigh of relief and a confidence boost when I saw the other local printers) I’m not looking forward to going from a shop with an auto to starting with a manual though
Unfortunately that's way too common in this industry, a lot of shops operating below average just to get things in and out the door. Glad to hear my stuff helps in any way. Everyone starts somewhere and you'll be back on an auto soon enough. Good luck!
