The problem is that even pipe smoking is unfortunately tied to politics. Politicians tax tobacco and in the US are trying to even limit pipe making classifying pipes as tobacco paraphernalia. These criminal politicians don’t care about people’s health, that’s just the excuse. They are only concerned about the tax revenues. That’s all they are interested in.
I agree. And I have also grown tired of seeing the YTPC turn into the “YABO Channel” becoming a clique showing off all the gifts and free stuff people are giving each other. It is becoming a sweepstakes channel and popularity contest show.
100% agree with you. I’ve had to unsubscribe from certain presenters who seem to think they’re experts on politics/religion. The whole point of the YTPC was to escape from all that nonsense and as others have stated it’s something that unites us. Something we all enjoy and can agree on👍🏾
I love the beading around the decorative rim of the Baker Street. Very handsome pipe! I have a number of the Peterson Sherlock Holmes collection, and think they’re great pipes.
I believe that the pipe smoking lifestyle brings us together where we can also share different interests. Where I draw the line is with issues related to politics and religion. Its just too divisive and hurtful to go on about it. Too many opportunities to be misunderstood... ✌️
Well said, Jeff. While I generally agree, I must say though that it also depends on the intentions of the person and their degree of tolerance and, even, let's say it, sense of humor. I am ok with exchanging opinions on pretty much any subject if it's done with civility, but I tend to believe the Internet is just not the right place, too many misunderstandings occur. And for what reason, when you are likely not going to change the other person's mind... Have a great one.
Totally agree, I don't go on a pipe channel to hear about religion, people's thoughts on morality or their personal politics, I have unsubscribed from a few channels because of this.
…totally agree with you Sir! This “free speech” thing…. If one is an influencer that people “agree with - eating your ideas because they think the world of you” but one spreads idiocy…. Then what is the difference from lies on the net…. I agree one can say it’s opinion but is it relevant if one has NO background knowledge in that field?
Well said Sir 👏🏼... you’ve just gained a new subscriber! I think people come to the YTPC to escape the stresses of the world and simply find commonality in the enjoyment of pipe tobacco. Let’s keep it that way. Nice pipe, looks like a good puffer 👍🏻
It’s your channel and you are free to talk about whatever you like. For so it’s politics, for some it’s religion and for some it’s all YABOs all the time. Do whatever you like and just understand that some choices will alienate some viewers and so be it!
Great looking pipes! Classic. I definitely come here to escape divisive devices... politics being a major one. Have a great day my friend, all the best.
I totally agree my friend! I stay away from discussing politics and religion on my channel. Our common love for the pipe, tobacco, and the ritualistic contemplative nature of our art is what brings us together in friendship and love. Let’s all work towards making that our connecting force.
Very well said. I don't like politics. I quit voting because I'm fed up with them saying they are going to do this and this and it doesn't happen. You won't lose me.
Nice pipes, I like to enjoy mine out in the garden in the late evening in the summer. In the winter around a good fire. And yes I like to talk about how good some tobaccos are. I agree with you on the way people are. So on that note, my grandfather smoked a corn cob pipe so did his dad. He liked Half & Half brand tobacco.
I'm with You. I block them.. no messing around. My peace is more important than having a high sub number. Have a great day. HK- Hyde Park in an Ascorti business. The scene is being played out on the porch..the dog is on my lap. The coffee is hot enough and the birds are singing 🙏
I could not agree with you more regarding the politicization of society. As a teacher myself, your discussion about your friend really resonated with me. I try to never inject my opinion into class and stay neutral. When my students ask me what I think I always tell them it does not matter. My job is to basically be a how to think guide (how to use their brain critically to arrive at their own answers) rather than to tell them what to think. Too often in college I saw my professors tell everyone what to think, so I told myself I never wanted to be that person when trying to educate.
I strongly object to your balanced, rational, thoughtful views, and to the articulate way in which they are expressed...😤 ADDENDUM: I’m only staying subbed for the Petersons! 🍀
I hear you brother! Two things i always avoid discussion about politics and religion, both usually end in an argument. My only favorite political discussion (although i know nothing about nor how it ended) is between the Gerald Ford and Anwar Alsadat 2 presidents who smoked a pipe. I can only imagine the discussion turning into fold and stuff vs rubbing the flake and let the world be in peace. Kindest regards Al janabi
I see from your video list that you are into wing chun. My old friend Glenn Landers is a wing chun instructor but I noticed that on his club logo it is written Ving Tsun. I met Glenn many years ago when he was a boy and we were both learning Lau Gar Kung Fu.
@@redelrik i used to practice hung gar when i was younger then switched to karate, however in recent years developed interest in wing chun or ving tsun its a matter of different pronunciation, i like its philosophy more linear straight to the point approach. Added plus, one of its grandmasters (ip man son) smoke a pipe!
Everything in moderation...philosophy, pipe smoking, etc....well, everything in moderation - except blondes. Blondes should be experienced in excess if possible....otherwise, everything else in moderation
I must admit that my morning drives can touch on political topics but not for politics sake but as a topic for discussion and musing. I do try to present both sides of a discussion and rarely if ever push my own personal views as gospel. For the most part though my channel is tabacciana related and will stay that way. All the best
State teachers are mostly politicised and few can help themselves, and do not see they are in an echo chamber. Bet though ‘Mr D’ didn’t have a terrible breakdown, I bet he was playing the ‘mental health’ card for a bit of easy money and time off work. It’s part of the rewards package of being a state school teacher. Well observed comment though about ideologues and fanatics and a shrinking world. P.S. Not often commented on YTPC how certain shaped faces suit certain pipe styles and, much like hats, the pipe chooses you not the other way around !
I have stopped Facebook and Twitter because things were getting just too much on all sorts of levels not least the time it was taking to keep up with things.
Good to see you again. Yep two taboo subjects is politics and religion for me I'm not interested in either as it's like trying to piss in a high wind it gets you nowhere it's one of the reasons I'm sick of Facebook if it isn't politics it's women with their tits out with a bedside lamp 🙄. I'm smoking my gbd bulldog which is similar to the baker Street 👍 if I had the hansom pipe id smoke cabbies mixture in it. Take care and looking forward to the beer hunt in the summer 🍻 I've missed those 🤗
Thanks for your comments. I don't check my comments section regularly because I am not so active in the You Tube pipe scene at the moment. I got into a little conflict with the video and then thought, "well if you want to talk about politics, let's have it"! I made a video about what I thought and pissed off a few people. Since then I changed the channel name and just make the odd short video now and then. Take care and all the best.
I watched your video yesterday and I find myself strongly disagreeing. In fact I have posted my own video response to it. Don't feel obliged to watch it of course. I'm only letting you know in a spirit of openness and respect. All best Duncan.
I have just watched your response video and I have to wonder if you were paying much attention when you were watching mine. When I first approached the subject, around 3:30, I spent a good few minutes saying that I defend freedom of speech and the right of people to talk about anything that they want. I just said that I personally didn't choose to listen and I would probably unsubscribe. By the way, you say you don't care about me unsubscribing from you... but the fact is that I was never subscribed to you in the first place. I had never heard of you until you commented. I am not afraid of debate and politics and I engage in some extremely heated debates with some pretty extreme opposition. But I do so on channels that are there for politics not pipes. If you find pipe channels boring then I can recommend some political channels to get your teeth into. I will have to do a response video to this. When I have the time.
Thanks spaceman. This video had a tiny backlash but I responded to my critics. After I was watching a video where a ytpc guy was talking politics and I made a comment... as predicted, it all kicked off and I was cast as the bad guy for not just agreeing with nonsense. Afterwards I changed my channel name and I haven't really made any videos while I try to figure out what direction I want my channel to go in.
Titanic Swim team. Yeah, that’s an interesting story. I was kind of wondering why you changed the channel name. Politics can have that negative effect.
There’s only one group of people this broadcast is likely to annoy, and I’m sure they’ve been sent right down the road by now! Happy politic free puffing my friend 👍
Fell upon this vid quite by accident, but sub'ed because of it. It's not often these days this level of common sense is shone from all angles. I take my hat off to you sir. I see Politics being shoved down my throat from every media outlet and come to YTPC to regain balance and oneness. I look forward to hearing more of your wise and considered words, whilst chuffing on some quite splendid looking pipes.
@@redelrik No, there's a legitimate role for government but limited to protect our rights. "The government that governs least governs best." If there's nothing to fight over politics becomes benign and non competitive.
@@loug2414 I think that the comments section is too limited a spare to be able to explain and express your thoughts properly. I'm not sure if I fully understand the point you were making but earlier on I almost thought you were advocating for a society without rules. I agree with your quotation. Small government is the best government.
Hear, hear! I keep it as far away from my channel as possible, if somebody wants to see a tosser talk out of his arse about things he doesn’t fully understand then there’s plenty of other places to go looking for it. Take care buddy! Tommy
