Rare documentary produced in 1962 showing Honda's spirit of monozukuri (craftsmanship), filmed primarily at the Cub production line. The film depicts the passionate engineering team led by Soichiro Honda, and the thoroughly streamlined production site and its vigorously working associates, delivering the best motorcycles to the world.

1962年のホンダ、既に凄いといか言えない!僅か10年後にはシビックCVCCが発売されたのも頷ける。

Excellent 👍 Would love to see a later update, say mid to late 1970’s with Goldwing GL 1000, CX 500, CBX 1000 production lines and component manufacturing:)

Great historical documentary. Honda with less than 2 decades of existence presenting an enviable production technology. I have a 1964 Honda 50cc that I am renovating, 2 1974 Honda CB200s and a 1983 XLR250 with 28,000km. I have a lot of appreciation for motorcycles from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Congratulations.

I'll have to watch this later and will prefer to watch it in my TV while having a cup of Tea in my old man chair but I do a biography or documentary on Old Mr. Honda and his start after the war and him making Piston Rings working for Toyota to motorizing a bicycle for his wife with old leftover small engines from the 2nd world war. God Bless Honda.

No wonder Honda makes awesome products. The machines in the machine shop make the same noises you hear during a Godzilla Vs Mothra battle.

I have a Honda cb500x, and I love it. Thank you, Honda, to be consistent and reliable with the reasonable price always. I wish one day I would be able to visit any of your factory sites to appreciate your hard work and honesty in this regard. Just wanted to let you know that I have two Honda cars too, Honda Insight and Honda Element, high mileage but no problem, drive like a champ. Thanks again

I am restoring 13 - 1987 and older Hondas. Wonderful video. Fabulous engineering. Now I know why not one of my bikes needs engine work. Most carbs, chains, fork seals, electrics, and the like...

Not everything about Honda in the 1960's was smart. Back then a friend of my father had a Honda dealership, and was doing quite well in it. Drove the local Triumph dealer out of business with Honda's lack of vibration, far better quality, and better reliability. But Australia was a quite well off country and almost all people could easily afford cars. So my father's friend soon saturated the local market for motorbikes. Some clot in Japan noticed the orders had levelled off, and noticed the number of bikes sold per head of population was lower than in other countries. So Honda said "lift your game, son, you ought to be selling so many bikes. If you don't, we''ll take the dealership off you and give it to someone else." Well, he couldn't, so they did take it off him and gave it to someone else. Who sold less bikes as they were not well known.

Yes it's Very Interesting to Compare the Historic Role Out of Cars, Bikes, Trucks, Trains, Tractors, Ships, Planes to the Current Attempts to Switch to Renewable Machines. The Early Machine Production had Significant Public, Corporate and Government Support and Now They are Reluctant to Change, Weird!.

В 1962 у моего любимого производителя были очень передовые заводы, и это всего чуть более 15 лет после разрушительной войны. Вы молодцы, приятно было посмотреть. Спасибо.

At 5:15 the narrator says "Our concept of a research laboratory is to combine human technology and psychology as a means of transforming psychological findings into reality" Seems like 1962 Japanese film industry translators were about as bad as their instruction manual writers at the time. Were they curing lunatics or making better bikes? Presumably they meant something like "In our reasearch laboratory ideas of human imagination are turned into practical methods."

MASTERS OF COPYING...
@itsturbotime2994
@itsturbotime2994 6 месяцев назад
Copying what exactly? These bikes had lots of new and innovated tech that the British and American bike manufactures didn't have in a production bike.
@scoobylol1987
@scoobylol1987 2 месяца назад
Masters of refinement really. The Japanese, unlike Chinese manufacturers, actually bought a lot licences to manufacture certain items, and even full motorcycles in the case of the Meguro/Kawasaki W1. They then used that as their starting point with brand new equipment, while in the UK we were left with appalling management, a government hell bent on reducing manufacturing and pre-war equipment. Had we had correct investment the British motorcycling industry was full of talent, quality and ideas. You only have to look at what companies like Velocette were doing pre-war.

Its generally true that Japanese manufacturers were copyists. Even today, their heavy machinery is much the same as obsolete American models. But Honda was unique. Their motorbikes, right from the early days, were nothing like any western product. Completely different design and far more advanced.
