Finaly a travel youtuber got it right with a boteco! Most people show either a place that is too fancy/hipster or too rundown and dirty to the point that only real alcoholics go there. This one is the real deal. Right atmosphere, right drinks, right food (espetinho e torresmo). Typical suburban place that I would go to watch a football match (supporting Flamengo, of course), go after the stadium or just in a thursday after work with the guys for a "happy hour". Well done. I work in an area that I could easily move to another country. I got invited, only this month, to work for 4 different companies abroad, each from a different country (Canada, Portugal, USA and Germany). But this energy is the reason I'll never move. I love Brazil and I love to be a brazilian! There's something magical about how welcomed everyone feels here.
This is exactly what I keep telling all Brazilians who are looking to move abroad. You just don't get the chilled out lifestyle anywhere else like Brazil.

One thing I really like is seeing gringos speaking well about Brazil, I think we all like to see someone outside Brazil smiling, since many places speak badly of Brazil, Brazilians like to see smiles.

Boteco é um simbolo nacional, representa o Brasil mais do futebol e carnaval, pq num boteco vc acha de tudo, conhece de tudo, vc acha homem, mulher, gay, traveco (pf levem na zoera), vc é amigo de todo mundo, tem ótimos petiscos, tira gostos, ótimas bebidas e tem as melhores histórias, eu imagino um dia vc dominando o portugues, o tanto de histórias que vcs tem pra compartilhar e ouvir dentro de um boteco até pai com bebê mto fofo, a Ivana realmente leva mto jeito com crianças!
Living in London, I've always loved the pub culture here. Unfortunately we are losing the concept of a proper local in England as people are increasingly drinking at home. The botecos in Brazil, however, are another level. You won't find people as welcoming anywhere else. With the climate allowing these bars to be open to the street, they really are proper neighbourhood hubs.
