Hey man, Japan trip will be an unforgettable one. Prepare to deal with the crowds though, pretty much anywhere. Lake Biwa does not have much privacy areas for shore fishing like here. Have fun!
I have an old school fisher 15" flat bottom. Super shallow draft. 35hp so it scoots around GREAT. It has a.. 43?.. ft lb trolling motor that is honestly WAY too much. I'm about to downsize for more precise control. From the tennessee river and ohio river, to big east coast lakes, all the way down to any creek I can back it into. But I still want a 10-12ft for "carrying the boat in" There are areas with just a hole or two worth fishing that i'd love to get a boat on....
These are one of my favorite lures for texas rigs. I use the bigger ones and the Missile bait D Bomb is kind of similar but more beaverish. The Neko Hack eats through your lures like crazyyyyy. Tried it for a while but meh, I can't afford to toss a $1-2 plastic lure every time I get a strong bite. Keep up the great content brotha'.
I love the videos. You kill them bass every time. And thanks for all the info. And you use awsome baits I’ve never seen before. May I ask , where could I buy one of these metro glide swimbaits ?
Thanks for the video 📹! Looking forward to seeing your Japan footage, and that worlds record from Lake Biwa! Also hoping Dave has you back on the Mercer podcast soon! Peace.....FishOn....jimi
I really hope you do. No ffs... Paddling around on a surf board... Please God... If you are really up there somewhere... Please let this man own the world record.
Our natural tendency in a boat is to place ourselves in places we should be fishing. We go all the way out on the water just to turn around and chuck at the bank 🤣
Awesome intro bro. I hope you end up catching a giant. I agree with your points about using the paddle board and its stealthiness. What rod is that you're using to cast these lighter weight lures? Im currently in the search for a 7'6-8' medium/medium light rod with long grip handle to cast lighter stuff
i feel like the next world record will be caught in the most unexpected place. Not the usual trophy fish locations like cali, texas, japan, florida. Its gonna be somewhere like Minnesota, Pennsylvania, West Virginia. Just one of the states where you least expect it.
i live in VA and the lakes around here aint too crazy but the lake i live on produce crazy bass. 5-8 lbs isnt uncommon, but then the size just stops right their. VA probably wont produce a WR but i think it’ll probably be one of the neighboring states too texas.
Wont come from any of those areas. A 20lb fish doesnt happen because of magic, it happens because of predictable factors that lead to their growth. The reason predictable spots like Cali, Texas, Lake Biwa, Florida are always mentioned is because they have the necessary ingredients for a big Florida strain bass. These locations contain the temperature, genetics (Florida strain), forage diversity and availability dependent on supportive environmental conditions that lead to large fish both in the forage species and in the Bass themselves. Up north they only have northern strain which rules it out completely as northerners dont come close to 20lbs. With that being said, very very very very rarely would a bass even exceed the 20lb mark and in the case of California it basically happened artificially due to the efforts of Orville Ball and other SoCal heads that pumped freshly planted Florida strain bass full of copious amounts of trout in lakes that supported the bass ability to prey on the open water species. Theres no magic in it unfortunately. With that said the world record was swimming in Cali for a long time as we know with Dottie the bass. She was just never hooked in the mouth. The world record was or even is probably swimming in lake Biwa Japan as we speak. However I think the one of the few ways we will ever see that record scratched would be by a very intentional effort by anglers and their state and local fisheries department to basically recreat the "Orville Ball Experiment" which occured in California. The chances of it happening natural are the result of a genetic freak with a buffet of food so probably Mexico, Africa, or Lake Biwa. Or a 100ish acre lake sonewhere in Cali, Texas, Florida as these smaller lakes seem to kick out monsters. Anyways kinda just wrote that for fun but also to highlight how fucking impossible the odds really are for a bass to grow that big. In the mean time im gonna go back to catching my ocassional 5 to 8lb fish and pray for my first DD 😂 Fish on guys and gals lets break that record :)
Hey man I’ve been sup fishing since 06, let me know if you’re around az and I’ll meet up and show you some paddle tips I learned from Olympic paddlers for maneuvering sups that help a lot when fishing
Would you consider an inflatable kayak for its improved stealthiness compared to a typical rigid one? I assume the percussion of the hard plastic is your main hesitation
It would be cool if that fish ate it 3 times but I’m sure you fired up a small group of bass after hooking that first one! Dope ass video. Need to get some of those baits
I always hear Baccarac in MEX more than likely has 3-4 WR largemouth in it at any given time. I think the largest pulled from there was 19 but definitely has the genetics to be the next spot.
