@@BeamerView sure it's the only way you'll see a car in your side window as soon as it disappears from your side mirror (no blind spot) Btw thanks for your videos. Just bought a BMW and this channel made my life much easier :)
I always has rear corner of the car in the mirror. I lean forward if I change lanes to limit blind spot. Most people in the US look over the shoulder when changing the lanes anyway.
Generally true, but I do adjust my mirrors when towing or if my rear view mirror is otherwise totally obstructed, to help me see what is overtaking me - then I have to rely on me to look before changing lanes.
Just a couple of days ago, I read somewhere that my I4 has automatic high beams, and I realized that I had never experienced that. Thanks for showing me how to turn on that feature. I have also seen videos with the assisted driving view on the instrument cluster and have been meaning to figure that out as well. Thank you!
Picking up a new 2024 BMW 05 30 series with X Drive. This will video was very helpful and getting to know the new car. I have a 540 2021 right now. It’s different with the design and this cleared up a lot for me.
Alternatively if you include the edge of your car in the mirror’s view, you’ll have an anchor point to orient from when you look in the mirror. Then you can just lean forward a little to see the blind spot
@@BeamerView i like as I have in my other vehicle, 100% of the time being able to see ALL the time all 4 of my tire pressure settings. Please, what in an iX what is the quickest, easiest way to see them, e.g., shortcut, personal assistance voice, or ??? TU
Is there a way to customize easy entry feature? I love that i can use the phone to lock/unlock the car but it’s super annoying when the car locks itself when I walk from drivers door to rear left door. Should be an option to specify distance how far you need to be from the car or disable at home address
Unfortunately not, I get what you mean though my car does it all the time. Maybe try pressing unlock before you get out. I have my walk up to unlock off.
2024 X6: when in active cruise control, how do I control the distance between my vehicle and the vehicle in front of me? (in my old 2021 X6, there was a plus / minus button with the other cruise control buttons on the steering wheel?
Go into the menu settings and look into driving settings menu. In there you should see a option to control the distance, should be a bar with 3 diff distances to choose from.
Anyway to adjust the seat belt ? I’m 5’3 and I feel like it’s cutting my neck! 1st time BMW x3 2024 owner totally confused your videos are a huge help, thanks
Depends on the vehicle, if you have one of the new vehicles most likely not since they have the new mild hybrid system. Two ways you can check, one if there is a button near the gear shifter, the other go into settings and search for it if you have idrive 8. If not then you probably can't. You could go into sport mode and that will do the trick though.
Why every time I enter my bmw I have to turn off the speed limit noise and the lane assistance I like them both off but it seems to reset every time I start the vehicle? I’m signed into my ID when I’m adjusting them so a bit stuck
Seems you're doing it correctly, if you have a vehicle with OS system 7. You would just have to make sure you make the changes and make sure you're safety settings are set to "individual" you're vehicle may not have this which you can tell if it has a green looking button near the hazard lights. I would try rebooting the system by holding down the vol button for 30 secs will the engine on to see if that helps. Lastly, if all fails I've heard of some countries preventing users from doing this as a safety feature, meaning you would have to press it everytime =/
The small ones you can try swiping left or right or the big one you can swipe from the right side and you should see more options. Check out the idrive videos we have on the page
I'm wondering why you've not got gor a reversing camera? I'm waiting delivery of my i4 BMW and it has a reversing camera, Re the highbeam A I currently have this in my X1 drive 2 and it doesn't work, it's set to the letter A but I've never had the high beam work automatically. For an electric car, are they not getting full of automatic gadgets and screens which all take power from the battery? anyway thanks for the tips.
Reversing camera is there, I'd have to put it into reverse for it to show. All the newer cars are getting automatic high beams, this can either be engaged by pressing the button on the turn signal stock, or if you go into the exterior lighting menu there should be an option there for auto high beams.
Park lights are used for when you're parked in a dark area, it's great to use so people know you are parked there. You would turn off the vehicle and then press the side light button and the back tail light will stay illuminated. Many use this in the UK not so much in the US.
Hi, i just bought a 550e with m acc. Now the tell me that the light in the gril doesn’t work. Only on full electric. Is there a way to activate it on a hybrid? Thx Bram from the Netherlands. Love your video’s
I got my x5 back in march. I have RU-vid and other cool things in my dashboard. Question, once I installed the new Idrive 8.5, will I lose those things?
I get why BMW called the five 0 five hand gesture five 0 five because you are basically saying 505 with that hand gesture when you put your hand in front of BMW’s iDrive 8 infotainment system or in other words putting your hand in front of the touchscreen and you can program that five 0 five hand gesture to do what ever you want it to do
Correct, I found using these gestures to be tagged with a shortcut to work the absolute best. Say for example you could have 505 to be a shortcut that goes to your favorite radio station.
I have trouble with recuperation/regeneration at Bmw i7. I cannot completely turn off. At all options; adaptive, high, medium, low, it makes regeneration. Is there a way to close it. I want coasting always.
The 2023s will not have it, if you have a 2024, try using the hamburger looking button on the steering wheel and look for AR view, if its not there then it may not have it.
I can’t believe there’s no way to have both mirrors swivel down in reverse. Also they tilt down too much when you’re starting farther away. That’s probably the only feature I liked better on my Cadillac
I want to say that there is, I know the 7 series has this but will have to test it out, I would check under the interior lighting settings if there was something it would be in there.
My 2024 X5M does NOT have the option to have the speedometer in the center of the control panel, I can put it in sport and get the transmission in BIG letters with the speed under it, and that's it. Is there a way to do this ?
I know the M displays come with a completely different look. If you've already tried what I did in the video the next best option would be to go into the display settings and see if you can change anything there.
@@BeamerView appreciate the prompt response. Unfortunate answer lol. I just got the front windows tinted and it’s pretty hard to see out of the driver side mirror. Love your content btw. This is my first bmw and your 2024 x5 setup guide was awesome. Keep it up man
I can’t install the newest software upgrade on my 2020 x5, all of a sudden the remote start stopped working and can’t get it to connect to the internet! I have tried and watched just about every tutorial out there 😢
You may have to renew the subscription on Connecteddrive.com. Remote services are only good for 4 years from the life of the vehicle so it may have to do with that. One of the biggest reasons why we bump into the issue is when a vehicle is older than 2021, there is a good chance that the battery is not powerful enough to proceed with the update. Battery life tends to go low after about 3 years. The only way to by pass this would be to go to the dealer and have them manually do the update. Keep in mind that there may be a labor cost associated with this.
@@BeamerView I appreciate all of your help. Haven’t been able to update the software yet but I did get the remote start working. Thank you so much for taking the time and make these videos, you have no idea how much your videos have helped me with my X5!
the way he adjusted his mirrors is the proper way they used to teach back in the day - you don't need to see your car - you need to see the other guy ... of course driver education is USA is awful if at all which is part of the reason the death toll continues to climb even with all the safety features - and of course booze and drugs - 66 people per day last year killed in USA
The M Sport Steering wheel has to come from the factory, your next best bet would be the M Performance Steering wheel which you can get from SHOPBMWUSA.COM. That one I will say it more on the sporty side though.
Yes for sure, I was going to get my M Sport Steering wheel from BMW with the airbag and everything, I just want to know if when I take my base wheel off, the connections will be the same on the M sport wheel. Thanks for the help! @@BeamerView
How does BMW define "end of trip" for the auto unlocking? I have looked and looked and can't find any definitions of this. I mean don't you usually put the car in park at the end of the trip? I don't understand the difference.
X1s will not be able to upgrade as far as I know. Idrive 9 is on brand new X1, but would require some physical upgrades that can only come from the factory.
I believe you mentioned this is a plug in hybrid? I know this may be defeating the purpose of the hybrid. But if I get lazy of charging the battery, I can keep the gas tank full while ignoring the depleted battery and still drive the car.
Occasionally it's ok but doing it all the time will cause more wear and tear on the battery. I wouldn't recommend doing it often, especially if you plan on keeping the car for a long time.
@@BeamerViewHow long a fully charged battery last? Can I switch between battery and gas or is it an automatic function? Say I'm driving to Vegas 200 miles
Thanks for this. You showed iDrive 8.5 is a little better than iDrive 8. The next step for BMW is to bring back iDrive 7 with physical buttons that cut our button-pushing in half. BMW can rename it iDrive 9. In aviation there is a concept of minimizing cockpit workload. Having to push buttons just to get to other buttons, as BMW makes you do in iDrive 8 & 8.5, goes against that concept, makes a driver less safe, and is ridiculous. A triumph of form over substance.
I believe you cannot keep it in place. It will have to move along with the others to the right of it. Only this iDrive 8.5 version you can keep that widget all by itself.
horrible displays. horrible dashboard "design". it is disgusting to see what car interiors do look like in this day and age. the z4 m40i interior seems to be the last evolutionary step i am able to accept.
I am in a country where my BMW app is not available, how will I get the best experience from my BMW without the my BMW app? Are there other ways to set me up, I just got the 2023 X7 by the way and this will be my first experience with a BMW
Congrats on the X7. One of the biggest things about it would be remote engine start if your country allows it. If it does, this is done by pressing lock 3 times. The other features of the app just give details about the vehicle such as fuel level, how far you can travel, if all the doors are locked, etc. You can see service intervals but that you can just go into "vehicle status" and get the same info. You can also call roadside assistance from the SOS button above you without using the app as well. The biggest one is remote start. If you don't have that to begin with, you're not missing out on much.
Unfortunately not. You'd have to see the BC info on the center display instead, there should be a menu in there that shows info about MPG and miles, etc.
