Its called a helical magazine. Theres a couple other firearms that use this as well but definitely cool and not common, but they have their own issues as all magazine types do, such as some serious reliability issues and balance issues since when fully loaded all the weight is in the front, and as you shoot the center of gravity shifts, among other things such as clumsiness of soldiers carrying and storing them on their person kept the helical magazine as more of a curio. North Korea I believe is the only country that uses helical magazines en masse with their helical mag AKs.

@@coolwolf506 I will within 6 months, and stuff will start going up on my channel within that time too. I’m currently working with 3 separate solid designs for gas piston receivers (a normal rifle version, an integrally suppressed version and a compact SMG version), but they’re all on paper as of right now. Eventually they’ll be available online for free use, but first I have to finish my schooling and get my own shop and crew.

they make new variant of these gun with normal mag so probably not superior than normal mags

@@sargera1 lol its was a joke. Meaning AK last longer than all guns so guns based on the AK must too. Also this gun has no gas system. Pretty sure 99.99% of real pistol cartridge carbines don't have gas systems

those aren't real ammunition they are dummy ammunition to push the real one into the firing cycle, it is similar to FN P90 magazine.

It is part of the follower system, this is common on drum and helical mags. The follower and "dummy round" are attached to a spring that runs the length of the center of the magazine, as you shoot the follower/spring place pressure against the rounds which in order to enter the weapon need to make that turn at the end and finally be pushed up to the feed lips to be loaded into the weapon, the actual bullets can do this without issue (Usually) because they are not attached to the spring. The follower itself however, cannot make this turn do to it being attached to the spring therefor cannot make it up to the feed lips to load the last rounds. So a second "Dummy"round is attached to the follower to make the turn, to push the final round in place. The dummy round is typically connected by a ehh for lack of better terms, a chain, to the follower which allows it to move around the turn going up into the gun. Hope this is a bit more information I tried to "dummy" it down so people can understand. Its a pretty common question.

north Korean have 5.45 variant and yeah its look like bazoka under mount lul. i design idea in sketchup3d. i think the best design is p90 magazine but mounted like pp19 bizon. also ngsw have plastic round, i am thinking maybe we i can use textron case telescoped ammo for 7.62. i will post the video soon.
