Alan Savory visited my ranch along time ago and wrote Hello to the Gavilan which my ranch has a part of the rio gavilan its in Mexico but then people started treating the ranch poorly and his son came and wrot adios to the gavilan so goodbye to the gavilan. My dads main purpose in this ranch is for people to say hi to it instead of goodbye so this really helps

I get the profit part, but funny that it has so much focus. Just growing healthy food for myself, family and local community + regeneration of land and ecosystems is enough reason for and that is quite priceless, but sure, some money to pay off the farm is nice.
@honeyfurfarm2182
@honeyfurfarm2182 3 года назад
It's a business, if you're self employed you want to make sure you are making a living wage. If someone is creating so much value for others they should recieve value in return. Taking care of the land and the sustenance of communities is a very important job and it's been undervalued for a long time unfortunately. If we want people to continue to do things like this they have to make a good living. Profit isn't a bad thing, especially when it results from good intention and value for value exchange. Money isn't a bad thing. Money opens opportunities and gives people freedom.

Richard, do you know any market gardens that do no-dig successfully in Southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain, etc.)?

I would like to start out in agriculture this year. But a major concern for me is, how to deal with the psychological aspects of slaughter. I‘ve heard that in heard slaughter should be best for the animals. How do you go about Processing, and how does it feel, or how do you deal with it?

I grew up on a small farm in Alberta when farmers were still opening land and farming with horses. In the early 1940’s they were just changing to the age of a tractor working the land. What we grew was pure, a carrot tasted like a carrot, no such thing as insecticides. Gradually our system changed to something that the food that is grown now is toxic and making people sick, sadly we don’t have a choice.

You mean this is how your version of regenerative agriculture works. Please choose better titles for your videos. You live in Europe. Not very many places in Europe are lacking in water. Accuracy is key.

I feel bad for the animals.

Me too. Cause you don't need it. Also small slaughterhouses have a much lower chance of stunning them correctly. And even the bigger slaughterhouses have only a 50% chance of stunning them correctly.
@Xera1
@Xera1 3 года назад
It's a shame people comment on an hour long talk without having watched the first 15 minutes. The animals are essential. No animals = no regeneration.
@dieabsolutegluckskuche5174
@dieabsolutegluckskuche5174 3 года назад
@@Xera1 That's not true at all, you don't need human designed animals for anything. Otherwise we wouldn't even exist. Just because someone in the video says so, it doesn't mean that it is true or not. There is 0 evidence for the claim you are making.
@Xera1
@Xera1 3 года назад
@@dieabsolutegluckskuche5174 before we killed them all, non "human designed" animals grazed and built this land. Without them, it dies - it's dying. Unfortunately humans have already killed most of these animals, as Richard talks about in this presentation, so we need to replace them. It has to be financially possible in the process, due to the world we live in, otherwise how else are you going to start making any changes? With money from thin air? Or are you planning a communist revolution tomorrow so we don't need money to enact change?
@dieabsolutegluckskuche5174
@dieabsolutegluckskuche5174 3 года назад
@@Xera1Hey mr Holloway, Again, just because he says so, doesn't mean it is correct, he didn't provide evidence for that claim. You don't need any cattle or wild animals to convert a landscape. Your last sentences are kinda bs mate, are you trying to insult me with things you don't know? The most profitable crop (per m² and time investment) are actually mushrooms, he sells them too. And there are a lot of plants which ones provide a higher income than animal products. But what he says about the selling is correct. A lot of farmers have know-how about producing but not about marketing/selling. Cheers
