I like elminating the part about counting hitpoints. I think one creature per level is too low on lower levels and too high on high levels. So maybe D4+1 creatures would be a good solution for 1st level, with the possibility to upcast the spell.
Yeah, I think the hit point thing is the weird part. It is one thing to say, there are three creatures, I think can get 2-5 of them. It is another to say, does that guy looks beefier than that guy? I know I rolled 35 but I have no idea what hit points these guys have.
Yawn...I haven't had my coffee yet. Are you saying they should save using their Persuasion skill so that even if they succeed they could fake falling asleep after receiving the compulsion to fall asleep, as in they totally notice someone has their health in a choke hold?
Or even with a Con of 1(or2) or less. The downside with Con Save is your spell save might be high enough and creatures well outside of the intended scope could fall for it. A +10 Con still has a 1/4 chance of sleeping with only a DC 15.
I really liked the videos and your ideas, the only thing I would change is that I would use the spell caster dc for the saving throws and give advantage if targets are engaged in combat with the caster.
Digging your fix. Also, where's the _Snooty Disinterest_ (I've read before of "Takes no notice of you" spell centered on you, not a blurring spell, more like a suppression of Charisma to a nondescript 7 or 8 Ability score, no one pays you any mind) _Snooty Disinterest_ is a cube 3 stories tall, above a point on the ground with a 30' x 30' area, all creatures that are at least Int 2, save on Wisdom at a -2 because it boosts their ego and Charisma by 2. Such that the affected radiate to anyone able to see them of their obviously enhanced importance, and hence the subject of interest to viewers. _Those directly affected by the spell usually begin talking amongst each other making disparaging remarks about the people around them, except they also become focused on the importance of each other,_ *facing one another, praising each other, aka __taking no notice of what is going on around them as if their surrounding were beneath their concern.* _To get them out of this muse/fugue over the next 10 minutes requires pain_ (and only the one in pain is yanked from the condition) _or drastic action_ (like an earthquake of significant magnitude, even ignoring rioters, etc. -- as if in a deep slumber.) Hey! always thanks for inspiration & a place to jabber on about D&D things, since I don't have a party because my local gaming store closed 3 years ago & everyone went to zoom.
I am glad you like it and thanks for Snooty Disinterest. I have seen that spell in effect on a lot of other channels but didn’t realize it was a spell. Thanks for enlightening me.
So, let me get this straight... Your solution is to punish your players for correctly using the game mechanics, all so it's easier for the DM to "win," and to avoid having to do 2nd grade math. Got it.
@@fleetcenturion so if it has always been around we should just keep it the same? I am not being argumentative, I just want to understand you. You like it the way it is? If so, that's fine. I have always believed one of the best things about this game is you can play it any way you want. Change it or not. Play this edition or any other edition you like.
@@DungeonClass - I do like it the way it is, because it's not broken at all. It's a crowd-control measure, easily defeated, and high-level creatures will be completely immune. It functions exactly as it was designed.
