@@gucciyae312actually charity for art is very important. It’s very important for conserving our past, also art doesn’t get many donations often, so when you can get for it, it typically is through charity and fundraising. Art is also important for cultures and for children to continue that culture.

the purpose of the gala is to donate money to helping preserve culturally significant works of art across any kind, though most go to the fashion side considering it costs a lot to preserve clothes from yearsss before us. hope it helps!
The reason? the reason for the met gala and the price is to raise funds for the MET museum’s costume institute. (and also reduce ticket costs when the public goes to the museum) the reason why celebrities attend is to appear in a highly televised media event filled with powerful well connected individuals. the reason why designers pay that much is to utilize the media and showcase their designs. Basically a very grand fashion show.

the designer pays for representative celebs for their brand, but anna wintour has to confirm every atendee, so just bc a high fashion designer bought u the ticket it doesnt mean ur gonna attend

First of all Priyanka was invited but couldnt attend as she is filming and constantly traveling to India and Dipika was about to represent Sabyasanchi with Alia but she couldnt come as she is pregnant so Sabyasanchi himself attended the event with Alia. And its not only designers who invites and pay its also the met gala authorities who make their own list and thats not a paid invitation. So hun invitation was never a problem for celebs like Priyanka and Dipika and so many hollywood celebs including Rihana also chose not to attend the event. So please do your research properly.
Only the co-chair get invite and not have to paid. Because their whole job is to hosting the event. The others who get invite have to paid for their seat or table, Anna would invite the whole luxury houses to attend and they would buy table for the guest their invite, hence the celebrities getting invite by the designers thing. It full circle benefit though, the MET get their fund from seats and table tickets they sold, the designer get to promote their design and their brand by made the guest they invited wearing them, the celebrities get the prestige and popularity by attending the most talk about Gala of the year in the world.
