@@altairibnlaahad6838 Since then I’ve figured it out, u need to connect your SATA power cable into your PSU (powersupplyunit) Which is at the back of your pc. It should connect into a 6 slot PSU socket.

There should be a port in your power supply named SATA and should be black. Put it on one of those

PSU, if non modular, you should already have a sata power cable attached to it. if its a modular power supply you will need to get a sata power cable that came with your power supply

different for every case, usually at the bottom next to the power supply. I hope you are doing alright!

​@@ItachiiSoLit it depends on the case you have though. I just upgraded my pc to a gaming one and my MB manual doesn't even tell me where the slots are placed, it's completely different to my old pc lol

Whaaa? Yeah that's definitely a bit of a rip off! You can most certainly install a new one yourself very easily. Sorry to hear!

Ooft! Cracking good point there Rhys! The SATA Power cable should already be connected to your Power Supply Unit already (if it's a non-modular PSU) otherwise if your PSU is a fully-modular one, you will have to go back through your PSU box, and fish out a SATA power cable and connect that to your PSU and the Harddrive.

Hey there! It depends on your PSU. You might already have a sata power cable plugged into your PSU already which would makes things super easy, but if it isn't you may need to fish through your PSU's cable bag and plug one in. Your Sata data cable form your HDD will also work with an SSD :)

i dont really know myself but from what i can find is that those 4/8 pin connectors (depends on the brand) they're called "jumper pin". from what ive read, they have different functions from manufacturer to manufacturer. According to Chron, he jumper pins are to be used by technicians or your network administrator for powering up the drive while in standby mode

I don't think it really matters.. but I think there's crucial holes that will mess everything up if covered up. so people use trays to ensure their disk is okay.

You don't need a hard drive but you do need something to install an operating system to. This could be an M.2, 2.5" SSD or a 3.5" HDD like the one in the video. 😊

Hmm this is an odd one. We're guessing the person at the shop assumed you would be replacing your main drive with a new one, but that isn't the case. So yes you can most definitely add additional storage to your PC, and not lose any data.

Hey hey, looks like that model of PSU is non-modular which is actually a good thing in this case, means there's no way you've lost your cables as they'll all be permanently attached haha. You have 6 Included SATA power connectors, which should be spread across two cables (with 3 connectors on each). You will however need to get a SATA Data cable though.

Great question! A HDD actually won't come with either the SATA Data or Power cable. You'll find Data cables come with motherboards and the power cables will come with a PSU.

Bummer! HDD are sensitive as well, so it's not the best idea to let it sit loose in a case, HOWEVER, you could get a USB dock for your HDD. It just wont be as fast though.
