After visiting an early twentieth century sawmill in the last video, Scott decides to step it up a notch and see how fast lumber can be cut. Turns out if you have the right equipment, you can cut about 40,000 board feet of oak lumber in a day. Join Scott as he visits Mueller Brothers Timber in Old Monroe, Missouri to see how they do it.

I had no idea we had a sawmill around here that was that high tech. Very impressive!

This mill was ran with steam engine until around 1960. My Baker steam engine was one of the two baker steam engines that worked at this mill.

I’m gonna need to know more about that. They mentioned it being run with steam.

Hmm, so interesting to me, but apparently not to many people, lol. Great video. I've spent time in some mills, (bandsaw mills) but never this good in circular. pretty cool.

Same thing at my house. I'm very interested and could watch it all day long. My wife, not so much.

They ship out green and kiln dried. They have (4) 50,000 bf kilns that are filled regularly.

is that conveyor chain grease that's getting on a lot of the boards??

No. The tannin in oak reacts with the steel to make a dark blue/black stain. It happens quickly.
