Pust in Reace has just a cornucopia of incredible solos. For instance: Dave’s solo in “Five Magics” is just bonkers in how cool it is, how well it works, and it does a really good job of hammering the same melody home.
And then I love Dave doesn’t even bother trying to compete with that level of complexity and just comes in with “boo, boo, biddly-biddly-boo!” Awesome.
I have a video of me doing the solo on my channel, though it was pretty good but your video makes me realise I'm playing it completely wrong and it sounds terrible compared to this!
In 1995 I was fortunate enough to attend a guitar clinic that Marty was giving in London. He was an absolute legend and played loads of stuff from Rust in Peace. I (nervously) asked him if he could play the solo from Lucretia, to which he responded "Ah my favorite!" And proceeded to blow the roof off with an extended version of the solo with added "Marty-style" improvisations. It was utterly spellbinding and something I will never forget. What a gentleman and a maestro!
Lucretia is a four bar repeating chord progression that Marty says he approached like a jazz musician so it makes sense it would be easy enough to extend (not a critique, a lot of jam bands have repeating chord progressions)
0:23 that phrase that begins with the bend at the end of bar 8, thru bar 11, is probably my favorite Marty lick. Hits me every single time. Thanks for writing this out, I've never been able to pick this out by ear.

When you say it’s as good as tornado of souls, for me it’s honestly better. I never understood why so much people think tornado is the best. Megadeth has come out with so much good material, even past Marty. Tornado of souls is my top four just on that album alone lol. Lucretia is a masterpiece, might be my favorite. That or poison was the cure solo.
Hey beanley could you help I'm struggling to get the last part sounding out I can play it but I can't get that 19th fret on the e string to sound out well with my pinkie, I don't know how to fix my hand positioning
dude my playing is getting so much better , playing marty and dimes solo's . but my little finger is killing me lol. tornado of souls is still one i gotta master
I wanna know Dave’s too but there’s not much information out. His solos are really hard to figure out watching other people replicate them. The good part is being exactly right isn’t nearly as important as it is on Friedman’s or Poland’s leads though.
That last lick is wrong. 16 19 16 14 (15b) 14 16 14 16 14 (15b) 14 17 14 (17b) 14 17 s 19 s=Slide up to Dim7 descending. b=B string I noticed it on the live footage of the guitar seminar and slowed down the album solo with isolated guitars and its still hard to make out exactly what he is doing right there. 98.8 percent Not bad BRADLY FRIEDMAN!
The part that goes 9a 7d 9d 9a (then slides up an octave 16d 14g 16g 16d Goes 7d 9d 9a (s/l) 14g 16g 16d There's a slide inbetween but no note on the front of either one. I'd been playing wrong forever. Your at 97% accuracy. If you concider all the picking accents 95%
i mean it can be basic but i feel like the most underrated solo is on disconnect/my last words boths songs just explode my brain with dopamine whenever i reach the solo part
Hey Bradley, I just watched the musicians mansion, and really found it lame that only the 1st day we got to hear some music. The roast was terrible and dumb. Jared didn't seem to the kind of guy who likes being made fun of. Anyway, was great that you showed up.
