The bays, the views, the history and much more besides. Introduced by television's John Nettles A Creative Channel Production 1994 Running time: 50 mins approx.
Tourism was destroyed from the 1970s because of cheap holidays in Southern Europe. It did pick up in 1980s due to the TV show Bergerac. I agree that tourism was down during the 90s. Tourism did pick during the post pandemic staycation.
I worked in corporate films around the same time this was made. They all has the same feel for some reason. How time flies, back in 1994 they would be thinking they were current.. almost 30 years later and they are distant history, for the most part.
During September and October Jersey has a restaurant festival called Tennerfest. Tennerfest is wher you can get a meal that you can get for £10 and sometimes £30 for a 3 course fine dining.
Bergerac ! Used to love it, but there were crooks on that programme , and sadly ( ! ) I’ve been a Tax Inspector for most of my working life, so I know ALL about Jersey as a Tax Haven and it’s Brass Plate companies !
LOL @ 1:07 Why did eductational/product/office training videos from the mid 90s always have early 80s style music? (This always annoyed me in the 90s during IT training)
Oh how it's changed in 30 years. Alot of what this video advertises has gone now. Battle of flowers on its last legs, hotels being knocked down. Also so expensive now, when I arrived in 2001 it was quite a bit cheaper in Jersey for most things, but now it's not.
@@GavTatu Oh, maybe tourists nowadays are more inclined to visit sunny places like Mallorca, Canary Islands, etc. instead of tourist destinations that are closer to home, don't you think?
@@ANtr431 possibly. things change. the tourist attractions we had have dwindled too. my son and DIL had a week in florida cos it was cheaper than a week in spain !
We went in '94 with our little child 'cos of Bergerac. Dreadful holiday! Naf food at our hotel with a miserable old guy dominating meal-time conversations. All three of us went down with tummy bug. Dangerous, busy narrow roads - nowhere for pedestrians on the countryside roads. Ugly concrete gun emplacements left by the Germans. One little cafe sold decent coffee, all the rest served 'orrid chicory substitute. Spanish waiters hovering around - to be tipped for serving 'orrid chicory. We ended up on the airfield perimeter wishing we were on a departing plane back to Blighty. By far the worst holiday we've ever had.
I hope it's not like that every time if you go a few more times,my time was good there last june 2023,the coach trips through the countryside lanes were abit dicey and hemmed in.
