Answer to all of that is it depends. Usually they will put on weight out there, and the pollen is super good for them. We don't have many trying to swarm because we re-queen annually, but they certainly start to get fuzzy.
Everybody needs to reduce the use of plastic! Please do not put bees in plastic!! We are allready becoming sterile, you great grandchildren will thank you!
Can you talk a little bit about how you introduce new queens when you make your splits? Only a 10% loss is pretty good for a 90%. Take I would really appreciate it !!
It depends on a lot. How the bees look, how many frames we make them up with, if we want to keep the old queen or replace her. I’d say they’re coming back with an average of about 8 frames of brood.
