The men you met near the sea are my coworkers. I couldve have met you there. They are not fishermen, but they store the fishes when the fishermen come. Im a factory worker, and a Student in GUX. Good to see you enjoy My town!

Wow, what a coincidence, thank you very much for letting me know Anguteeraq! Please send my regards to them when you see them, it was so kind of them to show me around. As someone who grew up in small fishing towns in South Africa, I have a real soft spot for the fishing industry and people who work there. It is a shame I have left Nuuk, otherwise it would have been wonderful to meet up - however, please check out my other Nuuk vlogs already on RU-vid and the others I'll put up in due course. Hope you'll enjoy those my friend!

Very interesting video of this Willie. I remember eating Minke Whale Steak in Iceland 🇮🇸 and can't say it was the greatest. 😍🇵🇭

Cheers mate, agreed re Icelandic seafood! They will tell you it is only the tourists that eat things like fermented shark etc. In general, seafood is not my friend when I travel, I've had some bad experiences!

I believe there are lots of minerals and rare earth metals like gold and silver hidden in the greenlandic ice sheets
@willieexplore

That is correct. And it's attracting a lot of interest from many parts of the world.

I enjoy watching your Nuuk City video's. How much does a meal at a Restaurant cost? I'd imagine, it is Expensive!!! 😍🇵🇭

Thanks Nelson, really value your support and encouragement! I did not visit too many restaurants in Nuuk but they were not cheap. I have to say though - and I did find this surprising - but some parts of Iceland are more expensive than Nuuk...

Thank you very much! It was a place I always wanted to visit so I am delighted to share my footage with you and others :) To be honest, I avoided eating out to save some money, but at the Cultural Centre you can buy a burger with chips or sweet potato fries for c. 140 Danish Krone (approximately £16). At the cafeteria of my hotel where I was staying you could get meals for half that price, so there are more affordable options too.

Por tu experiencia en Nuuk. Has visto algo de pobreza, barrios marginados?.

Denmark 🇩🇰 is the biggest Halibut exporter, because of Greenland 🇬🇱. Denmark's Halibutfish is small as Aquariumfish. 😍🇵🇭

Locals are from the Eskimo population, I think they are related to the native Indians, and they seem lovely and welcoming
@willieexplore
@willieexplore 2 года назад
They are Inuit. Some of them are quite shy and haven't engaged with many tourists before (not to mention one with a camera in their space) but once you engage with them in a respectful manner they will drop their shields. The fishermen were so welcoming!

How interesting and at the same time upsetting to hear that the whales are in South Africa to breed and then travel to Greenland to, essentially, be slaughtered. But, we cannot judge the actions of any country, however cruel we may find it ourselves. As you said, their livelihood is their fishing export.
@willieexplore
@willieexplore Год назад
For sure Sheila. Not my place as an outsider to comment, of course, but I could not help thinking exactly as you said that they are born in South Africa and breath their last breath in Greenland. Quite extraordinary to think of the distances they cover!
