The pure idea of a game where an incidental thing happens at the start that you can ignore and the game plays regular, or you can take the action and it goes wildly off the rails into crazytown, is on its own brilliant and I love it.

As a New Englander, I can honestly say these road are in pretty good shape.

To be fair, when I saw Mat and Steph play this game a couple years ago, it was insane how difficult it looked to get down the road. Seeing Arin just kinda skate through it and get close was mind-blowing.

as someone who one time decided to play this game on a whim and proceeded to get through the whole bridge without game overing once: employ great use of just. tapping movement keys. you've gotta really edge your movement. never fully commit to any movement because its always the acceleration that kills. i haven't finished the video yet but i think this is just important to note for anyone looking to try this for themselves

I may have confirmation bias, but I genuinely believe that Arin is doomed to mess up soon after Dan praises him. Every time Dan says "You're doing great!" I think, "Sh-shut up, Dan! You've jinxed him!" I think Arin claimed something to that affect years ago and I've thought it ever since.

As a tall person with the structural integrity of gelatin, i related to this game SO HARD. And also got very happy when Dan said he likes giraffes, as i have said countless times that I am just a giraffe poorly disguised as a human.

31:26 Arin is talking about how 'maybe it's a deeper meaning' as in, every time the guy goes outside, it seems like everything from the people to even the very environment, is hindering any progress he makes. Not to mention how scary and lonely the entire beginning really is. Now seriously, this is a silly game at it's core and I could very easily be reading way too much into it, but I actually have crippling agoraphobia. It is extremely hard for me to go outside because of sound & visual triggers that are connected to P.T.S.D. for me. (the reason I specify this is because agoraphobia, or any mental illness as far as I know, can literally happen from anywhere, never assume 'you know' cause everyone has extremely personal cases or reasons!) Anyways, 'agoraphobia' is basically, I get really scared when I leave the house. It varies from shaking and having trouble breathing to not being able to move, which is dangerous. I know it's silly, but in a weird way I actually relate to this poor guy. And it's like the clown fits right in with my phobias. I'm just glad there isn't a guy made of holes or I might have shut down lol No but rly, it's eerily relatable for being such a silly, 'out of there', semi-fever dreamish game. Sorry for the HUGE novel. I hope the devs or maybe even Dan & Arin might see this. Dan is seriously my idol. I absolutely adore him. You guys are super inspirational. Giraffe Town is a trip. On the subject of Alpharad, my first encounter with this game was on Friends Without Benefits, and he (Alpharad) made a surprise commentary appearance during the final boss (which took hours to fight) along with Josniffy. This and their Death Stranding playthrough were definitely my favorites.
