Shout out to Isaac shopkeepers: they are not a psycotic killer like Kevin is; they let you bomb them for increased devil/angel chance plus money and rarely, items... they are truly the best shopkeepers ever

I like how despite the fact that the shopkeepers all give you their names Hutts just calls them all Kevin.

This game is the equivalent of defusing a bomb. One careless mistake will result in death.

You dont play Spelunky, Spelunky beats you into a pulb with a bat, takes your money, kicks you while youre down and then looks at you with the most evil smirk in history and says "ready for another round?" If you intend to keep getting beat down by the game, here are some tips - dont whip pots and throw them instead, always expect that there is an enemy in a pot and just throw it against something to break it, that way you can be ready for anything coming out of it - the whip has a dead spot in the top front of your character, which is why you tend to get hit by stuff coming down towards you, the best way to deal with that is backwhips since they can cover that deadspot - you can see if something knocked out or dead based on if they got starts above their head, Shopkeepers have a ton of health so the first shot didnt kill him and they usually need 2 or 3 shotgun shots to die - Shopkeepers go apeshit if even a single block of their shop gets destroyed by anything or a bomb is in their shop and once one Shopkeeper wants to kill you, any Shopkeeper will attack on sight and the next floors always have a Shopkeeper guarding the exit, also if a lot of stuff is happening, Shopkeepers also sometimes just get some weird hyperarmor and ignore knockback - always look down, dropping down somewhere without looking ahead is just asking for spikes - dont rush things, most points of damage just happen because you rush things, which causes you to get mad and die even faster - learn how the traps work, arrow traps can be disarmed by anything going infront of it be it a rock, enemy or stone, you can also block an arrow shot by holding anything alive and the tiki traps in the jungle spike out when a body gets near them, learn their rhythm and bait them out, and spikes can be avoided by gliding onto them with a cape or climbing down with a rope, just dont jump while inside spikes - throw all bodies onto the altar, any body thrown onto it gets you closer to rewards with live damsels being the highest value you can throw onto it, but even a bunch of dead cavemen can eventually sum up to something, and I would recommend trying to protect the altars from any harm - expect a lot of bullshit, the game is the polar opposite of fair, there is a chance that you enter a floor, something triggers and offscreen arrowtrap, it hits you crossmap and knocks you into spikes, you are NEVER save so always expect to randomly die

That's a terrifying message when they say, "That's nothing yet." alluding to even crazier deathtraps.

Hutts playing this completely blind is just the best. Hasnt even gotten crushed instantly by a cruch block when he loads into a new map yet. 👍

It wierd how people call Splunky a rage game cause it's difficult but it's not unfair, just different. The thing is that everything is your fault which makes it feel much worse

After many, *many* hours of suffering I can recommend you Spelunky 2 waaay more this, it's slightly fairer in many aspects (like reducing the spiked alcoholic beverages to the Kevins) and in general less chaotic.

Best way to avoid Kevin's rage is to path a way for the Rock to go underneath Kevin's Shop. In spelunky 2 kevin will forgive you if you don't hurt him for an entire level while spelunky 1 kevin will hunt you harder then a wolf that starved for a week.

This game is so sick maaan I should play it again, it's been years. Never played much of the roguelike parts but the pvp was rlly fun!

I love this game. But god! Is it difficult. I have only made it to Olmec once out of 600+ runs. 300 on PS3 and 300+ on PS4/5. And have made it to the Ice caves. Probably a little over 10 times. But for some reason despite all this. I never, ever get mad. I always laugh, or have no emotion as I start up a new run. Spelunky is weird like that. Difficult but never ends up making me rage. It's an odd little game. Now... If you wanna talk about insanely hard. Play the second one. I have only made it to the Jungle about 5 times out of 100+ runs.
