The London Festival of Railway Modelling is the capital’s biggest model railway exhibition. Held at Alexandra Palace every year, the event always plays host to a wide range of layouts of all different eras, scales and gauges. The only thing they all have in common is that the modelling is exceptional! Tune in for an overview of the 2023 show and see some of the best model railways the country has to offer.

I agree! People get mad when I put music on these videos but I always think it's much better than listening to the people next to me talk about what they had for lunch 😅 I try to find a balance between the ambience of the venue and a bit of music to keep it interesting. Thanks for watching 👍

Nice layouts that were on show. Hope you picked up a couple of bargins on the way. Never been big Model Railway show outside of Warley. I'd like to go to GETS or the London Festival in the future.

Wow that is the biggest model railway exhibition I ever seen I wonder how long it took to build it also very cool shots of the locos running with passenger trains and goods trains including shunting trucks for any train

Enjoyed the exhibition but the organisation for entering was abysmal. Queuing failed when the first shuttle bus arrived and they immediately rushed the door. There was one operative on bag checking and then the scanning of tickets was painfully slow. So my 9.30 'admission' saw me actually enter the hall at 9.55. it would have been nice to have been taken out of the rain much sooner and stewarding of the queue should have been in place. Doesn't matter that the exhibition is staffed by volunteers, a lot of ticket money was paid.

Yes, getting in was much more of a trial than it has been in previous years and it didn't seem to be a particularly well thought process. I wouldn't put that on the volunteer stewards though, I would say that's more down to the Ally Pally staff who will be the ones managing entrance to the building itself. That said, once inside I thoroughly enjoyed the show and while getting in a was a bit of a faff it didn't personally ruin my day. Thanks for watching 😃

@@ThatModelRailwayGuy in fairness, yes the main entry was Ally Pally contract security. However, MRC as the client should be specifying (paying for) the level of coverage to make the attendee experience pleasurable. It's not like they can't anticipate the numbers expected to attend. The scanners were all MRC steward controlled. I got over my grump and as said enjoyed myself, not sure the dad with the wingey kid queuing behind me did!

We got there just after 11am I bought a £1 programme and went in no one scanned my ticket but bag was checked.When I went outside told the entrance staff they then scanned QRCODE and gave a reentry wristband.

Having just returned from Ally Pally today, the layouts were ok, it wasn't their best show I have ever been to... I think it was a lack of a real yea I must see that layout, lots of small ones dotted around, couple of medium sized, it was ok, nothing special, no Hornby either which was a surprise to me. I recorded some video but really there's not really much to make a video out of which tells me something.

I did think it lacked a large showstopper this year. Considering last time we had layouts like Copenhagen Fields and Grindley Brook (among others) it did feel like there was a focus on smaller layouts this time. I suppose James Street could be considered a large layout with the amount of track it contains, but being N Gauge it wasn't the largest layout there. That said, there were several layouts I knew I wanted to see which personally didn't disappoint and I discovered lots of other little gems too which really got my gears turning!
