If you're planning in driving around malaysia, avoid school holidays and a long public holidays, for example, public holidays which fall on friday and continue to monday, so malaysian will have friday, saturday, sunday and monday off day to enjoy, driving for holiday or journey to 'balik kampung' (going back to hometown/village) driving on the road/highway will be 'hell' ha... Ha... It is best to keep malaysian's, calendar for public holiday reference! 😉 I love your channel!!! Be happy be healthy!!

Enjoyed your driving around the country video. Ya, we have relatively good roads. And it's easy to drive around if you overcome the initial feeling of "intimidation". Food is alway a big part of travelling, what to eat, where to eat and what to expect. It gives you a sense of adventure too to try different stuff. But if you are here long enough and become familiar with the range of food, you feel more at ease. So good to see the entire family going places and exploring. Enjoy your stay in Malaysia 🇲🇾!

Sabahan here. Can't wait for your Sabah Road trip. Wonder you did drive from the west to east coast? Let's see. Yeah, agree with you that driving / traffic in Malaysia is one of the best in South East Asia doesn't matter driving behavior, road system and etc. However, rural parts of Sabah are abit challenging when the road condition is either bad or off road. Lots of up and down hills ranging from 1500 to 6500 feet of Mt. Kinabalu foot hill. Thats why we have the most numbers of 4WD vehicle in Malaysia compare to other states. Another thing is English makes it easy to travel around when you have it in everything from Apps, signs, menu, people and etc. Welcome to Sabah and enjoy your holiday! stay healthy and safe !!

I'm glad to hear that u love driving to get around here in Malaysia. I never been to a lot of places but I do think Indonesia has a much busier traffic. I wish u would spend a lot more time in Kuantan (the town with the Sultan Ahmad Shah Mosque) because there are many varieties of food there that u won't find anywhere else in Malaysia. I would say Kuantan is like a melting pot or the centre of the east coast states. I do agree with you that it is a bit hard to find vegetarian restaurants here & most of it were run by Indians who might practice different vegetarianism like u said.

If you plan to go to Perhentian Island next time, the easiest way is by flight to Kota Bharu. From Kota Bharu airport you could just rent a car or take taxi. It is a 40 minutes drive to Kuala Besut Jetty.

Even Perhentian Island is under state of Terengganu but the island is near to state of Kelantan border..so its advisable to take flight to Kota Bharu,the capital of Kelantan state instead to Kuala Terengganu because the journey is much longer from Trengganu than from Kelantan

Hi guys. Just watched both episode of your road trip video. Lucky for you guys it's not during festive season (Hari Raya Aidilfitri/Chinese New Year) or the road will be hectic. Once my travel time from KL to Kota Bharu took about 12 hours. Some spend more than 15 hours slow traffic. Btw next month, around 24th/25th April, the Muslim will start Ramadhan month, but for non Muslim it will be food festive month with all the Ramadhan Bazaar. Then will be Hari Raya Aidilfitri @ celebration after fasting for a month.

Oh, the bubur cha cha is a sweet desert of yam, sweet potato and sometimes sago cooked in coconut cream. Yum, I love it too. There are lots of these sorts of vegetarian restaurants across all Malaysia if you know how to look. One of my relatives have one in PJ and Shah Alam where you have to book about four or five months ahead and they make it to look like meat including char siew, curry laksa, nasi lemak but no eggs or anchovies but close substitute that if not informed you would not know the difference. Please check it out as most of these vegan places are run by Taoist or Buddhist faithfuls.

Thank you. I think it has been very impactful to them in terms in how they view the world. Especially its size. They now look at the world as smaller now more easily accessible. They are still just normal kids but definitely have a wider perspective than they would have if we never traveled.

Hi Joneses, welcome back to Malaysia! This is my first videos of yours that I've watched in a long time. I watched your first video until the time when you guys went to Everest (made me teared up that one). I stopped watching after that. Not that I don't like the subsequent videos, but I have my 'phases'. For months I would binge on digital nomads on RU-vid, then I would read books, sometimes I binge on Netflix, and sometimes I get active on online forums. All these phases last for months, I don't know why I'm like that, haha. Now, how all of you have grown! A and B especially. I remember that earlier on, you taught them to try every new food, at least a bite. I taught my kids to do that too. Before that I just let them be fussy eaters, so thank you. And I want to know what magical fruit did you eat, both of you look way younger! Mommy Jones can easily pass for A's college-age sister LOL I wish you guys all the best in your future travels (but please stay put for now ya). Your family is lucky to experience all the culture and custom of the world. Take care! Now I'm going to watch all the videos that I missed XD
@WheretheJones
@WheretheJones 4 года назад
Hey, great to hear from you. I totally get that about phases. That is so cool you remember that piece of info that we always ask that they at least try and then implemented it in your family!! Luckily we are prone to slow travel and it is easy for us to chill in a spot for awhile. I know I get from people that Amy is my daughter a lot. Travel has been good for us and really let us concentrate of getting healthy. Thanks for taking the time to write such a great comment!!!
@ezliiva6537
@ezliiva6537 4 года назад
I just rewatched the ending because I thought I missed the part when the camera is off at the end of the day and you would do dad jokes or funny quips to annoy Amy, haha. Those made me feel closer to your family (sorry, I don't know how to rephrase that to not sound like a creepy stalker). Like a behind the scenes or something. I love those. Your current format is fine. Lots of info. The video felt, I don't know how to say this, it feels full? Compact? Like a fluffy pillow. The content is nicely paced, no unnecessary bits yet not too packed that we feel like we're watching a geography/world history lesson. I don't know how to explain, haha. Anyway, I like it.

Malaysian are courteous and good drivers? First time I heard that. I know we have one of the highest road accidents in South East Asia. I drive here too and pray everyday that everyone adhere to the road laws especially MOTORCYCLIST.

Compared to the rest of Southeast Asia. Definitely. Ever been to Hanoi. Sooo crazy.

@@WheretheJones. Never been to Hanoi. Sad. If you rent a car again, try renting a Proton or Perodua car (Malaysia made). Would like your review on it.

Lots of vegetarian restaurants actually.. Ask your friends to download "GoVeggie Malaysia" app. It will let you know the vegetarian restaurants nearest to them. I use thm a lot travelling all over Malaysia coz I am 100% vegetarian. So the app super useful 😁
