Hi Cat! In my roughly 55 years' experience of interviewing, I found one thing that really helps: At the beginning of the interview look the interviewer(s) in the eyes and THANK them for their time and effort. Just a moment of empathizing with their hard day of interviews will set you above almost everyone else.
@@elizabethudoekong7327 There are two types of interviews for Emirates: Open Days and Assessment Days. Usually Open Days are open to anyone who shows up (no need to submit info online). You can go to those. However, if you do they will make you submit your info there so you might as well do it before. Assessment Days are when they prescreen your online application so it's an Invite-Only event for their faves. Hope this helps
Thank you so much for this video. Your kindness and realness shines through and it's so encouraging. I feel like I have a shot and seeing your video is my sign! See you in the sky 😅✨❤️
Hello Cat, this is such a well made video. Appreciate the tips especially the ‘Watch Your Energy’. I will definitely be using these tips for my interview with Qatar Airways. Thank you again. Hope you post more stuff 🫶
Hi Cat, thank you so much for sharing this video. It is such a reassuring and helpful video. I applied online for cabin crew and received an email and call to attend the open day assessment next week. I've been really nervous, but your video has helped ease some of my nerves, so I am really grateful. Thank you so much 💛
Hi Cat! This video really helps me lot, there were so many details that you told us and thx a lot!! After many years, EK finally is coming to China for recruitment in June and July, and I'm so excited also nervous. I really want to get this job😍And if there is something more about EK interview you wanna share, that would be great! Thanks again, and I can't wait to see your life in Dubai
Hi Mayli, that is so exciting! I think I pretty much said it all in the video but one thing I would like to share too is to have one year of customer service experience if you are interested in applying. It can even be a coffee shop or a family business, as long as you can share that with the recruiters they will be impressed. Even more if you have cabin crew experience. Hope this helps, thank you for watching! I can't wait to go and share with you guys!
@@catbeingcurious omg!!! I started working at a coffee shop in March this year, I just wanted to gain some experience in customer service at that time. I'm so excited that you say it's useful😊So I know Emirates must "COMING FOR ME" ;D
@@catbeingcurious hello! thank you very much for your videos and tips! I hope this will help me during my recruitment day. You mentioned that I need to have proof of my vaccination, however, I am not vaccinated. What should I do?
This helped me heaps thank you so much . I got an email for an assessment/ recruitment email in Melbourne. i have been watching heaps of videos, but i just dont know what to expect on the first as i am not sure if i am going for the assessment right away or recruitment
Hi! Both the Open Day and the Assessment Day are recruiting events where candidates are assessed in rounds. Basically, you can expect to present yourself to a group of people over and over again, so ensure you look presentable (follow the standards in the video), come with the documents and have some answers prepared! I have more detailed info on my blog: www.catmansouri.com/episodes-page/episode-20-ek-2023 Good luck!
I went for my assessment day and didnt make it to group discussion 2💔.Went home really heartbroken. Its hard when u have no idea what you did wrong😢,i participated in the discussion,i didnt talk over anyone, smiled all the way, presented with confidence, was well above 160cm....I went home feeling so disheartened😮..its hard to know what the recruiter really wants🙆🏽♀️
Hi Anesu! I am sorry to hear this. Often the first round is all about presenting yourself. I guess I would focus on your presenting skills or on the uniform standards. Please remember that nothing meant for you will miss you. There are always more opportunities! It took me two tries but I made it, and so will you if it's meant to be ♥
How did you get the feedback and things..I just applied for cabin crew but idk how it works after or when are they going to get the application if you can maybe help me ?
There's no official age limit besides age 50 to be crew with them, but you will not really be hired past like 35 with Emirates. Etihad and other airlines will hire crew past 35 but Emirates tends to hire early 20s and 30s. Hope that helps :)
Hi, If I don’t have my COVID vaccine it’s not possible for me to apply? Will this requirement ever stops? I really want to be a cabin crew , but don’t want the vaccin
Hi, it's a requirement for cabin crew to be vaccinated so unfortunately for the time being it is the safest way as you will be in contact with many people daily
Hi Cat, thanks for all your tips! You said you've been to two open days. Does that mean if you fail the first time, you can try again at another open day?
Hi Ben, that's right! If you are unsuccessful at the open day you can try again after a six-month waiting period but not before. Many people try more than a few times before getting the job. Hope that helps!
Not officially, but it is harder for candidates over 30 to be hired as crew. Once crew reach older ages as well (like 50) they transition out of the job usually)
@@catbeingcurious why would they put in their reqts at least 21 and above if it’s only until 30 y/o right? They should be transparent and honest with themselves coz many are aspiring. That’s a false hope and people will waste time applying when theres no chance from the get go just coz of age. Qr is best coz theyre hiring even 41 yrs old as long as they look young and fit.
@@arcturiangirlx664 Well the reason it's 21 is because of serving alcohol legally. It is a short career, and many of the girls transition to corporate (more office) or different jobs after. You can definitely apply to Qatar, Etihad or other airlines as senior crew. Thanks for asking
I would say yes because I was wearing flats which was okay until the final interview. Once I completed the final interview they took a full-body photo of us to send back to the Emirates HQ and I had to change into heels, which I borrowed from one of the other girls. They didn't fit at all lol so it's better to just have your own. Also it will give you confidence to look extra put-together ☺
Does Emirates hire many Americans? I can see Americans going into shock if they move to Dubai and have to follow 4,000 rules. Not ragging on US citizens. I am one and I would suck at following so many strict rules
Hi Kitty! I know that they have Open Days in American cities like Dallas, Austin, New York and more! I don't think Dubai is as strict as some other Middle Eastern countries, but maybe more conservative than North America. I'm not sure though as I will be moving there soon lol so we will find out! Subscribe to stay tuned since I'll be vlogging about it :)
Hi! Thank you for your video, it was really useful. I would like to know if there is a maximum age when you can start a cabin crew carrier by the Emirates. Thank you!
Have you had mates who were 19 & got the job instead of 21 bcz I’ll be 19 next year when I apply for the job🙈and what are the chances of getting rejected because you not 21years old
Hi there! So the chances of getting rejected are pretty much 100% because you need to legally be able to serve alcohol and the age requirement is part of the basic criteria. Some people do get accepted at age 20 when they are a couple of months away from turning 21 but that's as far as you can push it. It's a good learning opportunity to apply anyway because you'll learn what the requirements are and if you really want the job try boosting up your CV with impressive experience and languages in the meantime! Good luck
Hi Areeb, I'm not sure about Dnata but you can find all the requirements for different Emirates positions online here: www.emiratesgroupcareers.com/search-and-apply/
Hi cat, thanks for this video, it is super helpful, I have my assessment day in 2 weeks. I have a little lump on the back of my ear which I can't cover with makeup - are Emirates likely to not want me with this? Thanks
Hi! I'm glad it helped :) If it's on the back of your ear and it's small I don't think it's a problem at all. Don't be scared to shine and be yourself at your assessment day. They like girls (and guys) who speak confidently and also are team players. Good luck
Hello Cat, thanks for all the tips. May I ask, how about people who don’t have long hair. Is it okay to go with our loose hair, behind the ears, and neat?
Hi Vitória! If your hair is short (above the shoulders) then behind the ears and neat is perfect! If it is past the shoulders I would consider tying it up 🙂 Hope this helps! Good luck ✨
Hi Lorenzo, as far as I know yes that is the case because the requirement is actually from the Dubai Airport for all crew. If you don't have it, you will receive it at the start of training as they do medical exams. My suggestion is to get it though anyway as different countries have different requirements. Good luck :)
taken directly from emirates' site : "All passengers travelling to Dubai are no longer required to present a COVID‑19 vaccination certificate or perform PCR tests. " Does this applies to cabin crew as far as you are aware? I wouldn't want to waste time going to an open day if i don't meet basic requirements as vaccine is not mandatory right now and pointless at this stage.@@catbeingcurious
I've been invited to the recruitment day it's in less than a week, I don't have my passport but I have applied for it. Is it possible for me to still get accepted if I don't currently have my passport?
I think you should ask the recruiters at the event. It is virtually impossible to fly though without one so I would get on that. If there is a consulate or government authority that can get you an expedited passport I would go that route. Good luck
Hyy!! How u doing? I have few questions... 1. How many male candidates were selected in ur assessment day? 2. In my point of view they hire female candidates than male candidates. is it so? 3. I applied online, Emirates will not conduct any assessment day in our country, nearest country will be UAE for me. So what will be the next process? Any idea about that. To participate an assessment day will Emirates call me to Dubai? Or will it take place in online?
Hi Thanu! So many questions. Here goes: 1- At my assessment day, 2 guys made it to the final round out of around 10 people 2- Many women are hired for cabin crew positions but men too. They are always looking for qualified men also 3- I'm not sure what the guidelines are for UAE locals looking to apply to Emirates, but I would recommend checking the official website for the correct information, or doing some research online: www.emiratesgroupcareers.com/cabin-crew/
Hey Cat! Thanks so much for the video, it’s so insightful 😊 I was just wondering, did you have any prior experience of working as cabin crew before you applied at all? I personally don’t and I’m unsure as to whether it will affect my chances of getting hired or not. Any advice is super appreciated, thank you so much! ❤
their website says they prefer to have someone with a year of customer service experience so i would like to know it as well. do they hire complete freshers?
Hello! You do need a year of customer service experience but cabin crew experience is optional. Personally I did have crew experience at Air Canada but many are hired without it as the company trains you!
That's a great question. I am not sure, but as the pay is generous, I am sure a tutor or online learning can be accessible to employees outside of work if anything, especially based in Dubai. ☺
Hii cat, please I am 156cm and my arms can reach 212cm on tiptoes, would I still be able to qualify? I am fluent in English and have basic understanding in French as well. What do you think?
Hi Ayeesha! Although you are able to reach they do measure your height on the assessment day without heels. I would recommend applying to another airline though as Emirates have really large aircraft but not airlines have such big planes. If you want to fly, I’m sure another great airline would take you 😊
@@catbeingcuriousthank you so much for your swift response but the only open day in Africa that's a bit close will require me applying for a visa and all that, do you know if there'll be open day at any countries in west Africa?
Hi Cat, i really love your videos. I wanted to know if i can get selected if i’m 159 cm but i’m able to reach 212 cm high, because my arms are long. Are they so strict just for 1cm?
Hi, to be honest with you they are very strict about this as they measure it the day of. When I did it in Canada, they didn't allow us to wear heels and I had to take my shoes off. A friend of mine did it in Portugal and she was allowed to keep her heels though. It may depend on the recruiter in that case. I would say if it's your dream, not to give up but to prepare for the worst and expect the best. You can always apply to other airlines that may not be as strict. Good luck
Hi Cat 👋. I have an upcoming invitation for my first interview in 2 weeks and the email provided I bring a digital copy of my vaccination card which I don’t have since I’m not vaccinated. What should I do? Should I go to the interview without having one or will I lower my chances of being accepted :/? Please let me know!
Hello, if I were you I would get vaccinated before the interview. If you are hired you will have to be vaccinated anyway as it's a requirement to fly out of the Dubai airport and if it's a position you are serious about, you might as well take care of it so it's not an issue with your employer at all. Hope that helps!
Hi, as far as I know yes it is mandatory as anyone working out of the Dubai airport needs it, and also it is still taken quite seriously in parts of Asia, to which Emirates does fly!
Thank you so much for explaining everything with great kindness!❤ Cat, could you please tell me whether weight matters for the job or not? If you are fat but highly educated, like Mphil or Ph.D., and want to be a cabin crew out of passion now , do you still get the job or at least considered seriously for the role? Because I might get to appear in the interview next month , I am so worried about my 90 kg weight! Because cannot reduce much in a month.
Hello! Congrats on finding a career you are passionate about. 🙂BMI does come into play, because Cabin Crew are required to be healthy and fit enough to save passengers and act in emergency situations. If one month is not enough time for you, I would recommend starting a health regimen if it's something you really want and attending a future open day (you are allowed). Also, as Emirates is pretty strict with the weight, you might want to seek out a less strict airline in another country too! They're not all as strict on weight, some countries are more open. Good luck
Hello, that is a good question and I think not because it is a part of the role. However, there are other positions such as gate agents who can still be involved with the airline but do not involve alcohol. Hope that helps!
Hi, yes you should have this for the interview. You may not need a physical copy of the passport but uploading a picture with your application online is good for the recruiters to ensure there are no issues. If you don't have a passport or are in the process of renewing it be sure to mention it. You can read more detailed info on my site: www.catmansouri.com/episodes-page/episode-20-ek-2023
Hi Nasrin, I don't believe there is an official maximum age. I think they are looking for healthy candidates who can fulfill all the duties in a timely fashion. Given that it is a physical job to a certain extent though, there may a limit on what someone may be able or want to handle after a certain age. Most candidates hired are in their 20s and early to mid 30s
I have been to two interviews now and made it to the final stage twice. Got my final interview and then never got the golden call two times now :(( is it maybe my looks? because I know pictures get sent to Dubai recruiters and they evaluate everything. I dont know what to change or improve for next time.
Hi there! If you made it to the end but seem to miss the golden call each time, rest assured that it's not your qualifications. You are qualified and able to get hired if two separate recruiting events took you all the way to the finish line. One way to look this block is the external factors (the company's hiring needs, your looks, maybe the outfit, etc.) but I suspect that if you're making it to basically the golden call it's not external. Maybe the issue is internal. I know it's a little weird and woowoo but hey it's my channel lol so I'll just give you my personal advice which is... Do you actually think you deserve the job or that it's right for you? If you're holding yourself back by believing it's not possible for you, or because you have other things going on in your life, life/God/ the universe can't give it to you because you're resisting it. It sounds to me like you have what it takes but you need to get in alignment with this opportunity. Start visualizing yourself receiving the golden call, getting your uniform fitted, and travelling to your dream destinations. Make it so real to yourself or do whatever you need to do to not have any doubts about it. You fully expect it, or if it doesn't work out, you expect something even better to come along (because sometimes being too attached can stop it too). Unblock that energy and I think you can make it. Don't give up! Lol I don't want this to become a sermon on manifesting either so I'll stop here! Life gives you what you expect in life not your wish list, so truly expect the best with an open mind and see what happens. ☺ Hope this helps you!
Maybe next time I bring a blazer and suit. This time around, I had a dress shirt and dress pants and didn't get very far.. I was the only one without a suit 😭 I feel that could be the reason why as I am very extroverted person 😅 should I try again with a complete suit in 6 months time?
Although looks are important, it's hard for me to say why you were not selected. It is normal to reapply for many people! Try to reflect on your experience and improve on it for next time. You can do it :)
Hello Cat , hope you are doing well? I would like to know if you got rejected by applying, can I reapply with another email straight away or I still have to wait for 6 months before? 🙏

Hi Devika! I am not sure on when you will hear back as the company does that on their own time and based on how they are hiring. However, I will say that minimum height for EK is 160cm. Therefore, don't give up on your dream but try an airline which does not have this requirement, either locally or abroad. Good luck

Not late at all! If you are experienced and look relatively young, your journey is personal and no one can judge you for it. I just met someone who was hired at 33!

What is your opinion on this, please? Should I go and try or it's definitely without a chance for me. The Open Day is in another city so I need to pay for hotel etc and I'm just think about it. But I would love working for them and change my career.
Hi Kate! I think it's great you are looking to start a flying career. Thank you for your kind words! To be honest, I think that applying to Emirates could be a good experience for you if you want to learn the application process or hiring process for flight attendants... but you will not be selected for cabin crew. Even crew that have already been hired at the company are let go after they reach a certain age. I don't mean to discourage you, and feel free to go anyway, but what I would recommend is maybe applying to a position in their offices if you love them as a company OR applying to another airline. I personally have friends at Air Canada that have restarted their careers as crew in their 50s. They were wonderful to work with, and loved it, and so my invitation to you is to look at other airlines that won't judge you on your age! Good luck
Yes I do! Emirates requires cabin crew to have minimum one year of customer service experience. I also have prior experience as a flight attendant which always helps
@@catbeingcurious i don't they ask for cabin crew experience, in the website, it's says only 1 year Hospitality experience. I attended one of the assessment day today and didn't make it to the second round. I don't know, maybe because of the lack of the experience as a cabin crew. But some people did pass the first round without the airline experience.
@@catbeingcurious anyway, i mean the selection process doesn't feel fair and right, only one recruiter was present and she was really racing with the time, rushing everything. Hey I would like to go but I'm 1.58 cm but I can reach the limit but idk if they are strict with the height? PD: They measure you?? I'm afraid of to go and then have to go home quicky lol
Hi yes they are quite strict. They measure you the day of with your shoes off. It can be very disheartening for some. I would recommend another airline if you measure less than 160cm-162cm
Dear Cat, thank you for video!💜 Could I ask a question, is it mandatory to wait 6 months before reattending to Emirates Assessment day? I heard that only ones who had final interview should wait 6 months, others can apply

Hi Arghya, if by simple graduate you mean you are a graduate of high school (grade 12) then you have the requirements to be a cabin crew member. Your age is a bit on the higher side but if you look good for your age (20s - early 30s) they still hire candidates. Hi! Unfortunately Emirates does require a minimum height of 160cm. However the good news is that not every airline does. EK have huge planes and to reach the safety equipment in the overhead bins you need to be tall, but smaller airlines or airlines in other countries might have a different fleet. I have a friend who is your height that was recruited by a regional carrier in Canada. Don't give up
Hi! Unfortunately the height minimum is a safety requirement for the types of aircrafts that Emirates uses so they will not budge on this. However, they are not the only airline in the world. There are certainly other airlines that might fly with different aircraft that will take you if you wish to fly. Good luck
