And not in a bad, fan-fic way. It served an important narrative purpose and filled in a huge hole in the lore! Also, his card is one of the best in QB.
@@DreamMorpheus42 not a bad fan-fic way? they made the gi aliens that created the black materia, it's one of the worst changes along with that absolute fucking dogshit final boss and ending
@sorasnobodiexiii Jenova is an alien. There's already aliens in the story. I think it's actually a huge flaw in the original that they never explain why the Cetra even made a black materia. It never made any damn sense.
@@sorasnobodiexiii the Gi were literally nothing before, now we have sound story reasons why they are ghosts on this planet, what are you complaining about
@@xPooogle515 I'm almost convinced that some people are just trying to make up reasons to dislike Rebirth. At least 90% of the stuff in Rebirth is faithful or improved from the original
nah this shit lit but it’s when he activates Doom that gets me goin. the countdown starting n that panic and adrenaline that you get cus he’s almost dead n you can’t lose after how hard you tried
Man if one didn't know the context, you would think this is a theme of a Gerudo boss in Zelda BOTW/TOTK! When I reached this boss i was kind of hit off guard with the change in instrumentation in contrast to the rest of the game, Such a fantastic composition!
I’m now revisiting OG ff7 with ff7 rebirth and remake boss Themes….it’s epic and just hypes me up for what’s to come. Stay alive and healthy folks. 3 years until part 3
So were the Gi Alien to the planet? I really wish they dug deeper into the origins of the Gi, cause honestly I feel for their suffering. Gi Nattak seemed a sensible guy. Like there's just so many questions
My guesses are either: they're aliens, or they're an ancient race that predates the lifestream itself. If the only thing the black materia can do is summon Meteor, then obviously they shouldn't have it lol, but if it can do other less destructive stuff then I don't see why not. We'll see what Cloud does with it in the next game.

@sanfordday There's a sidequest which explores the Gi further and it seems they are very much aliens that came from somewhere else they don't even remember. And now they are trapped on a planet that is not their home and doesn't accept them so they just want to go into nothingness by summoning meteor.
they were aliens that came from another planet (that's now gone) into Gaia (earth,) but the moment they die on earth, the planet doesn't let them visit the lifestream (because they are aliens) and the cetra (aeris/aerith's race and ancestors) didn't really welcome them into the lifestream. So, they combine all their grudge and hate into one single materia to destroy the gaea (including the lifestream), so they can finally rest peacefully tldr: dead people in foreign land stuck in limbo so they try to destroy the gate itself for them to pass on
@@sanfordday it's implied by Gi Nattak that they originated from another dimension/universe - similar to Gilgamesh perhaps - and that's why their souls are rejected by the lifestream after death but still bound to the planet. So Meteor is only a salvation for the Gi in the sense that it would destroy the planet and I don't think there are other uses for the black materia.
Now I want two Final Fantasy games: one with Ancient Japanese traditional aesthetics (well, the one from April Fools trailer) and one with Ancient Egyptian aesthetics (which doesn't cancel super technologies and katanas)!
I love how both "Cosmo Canyon" and "Those Who Fight Further/Fight On!" themes are incorporated into this original theme. Hell, in phase 2, you can even hear "Let the Battles Begin!" So sick and yet kinda sublte! It still remains its own theme. Same with Demon Gate having both Lifestream & Forgotten Capital themes!
Correct me if im wrong but it seems to me that the gi were the original ihabitant of the ff7 world before the cetra arrived on their planet and created the lifestream system that is why they cannot return to the planet when they die and im guessing they created the black materia to erase everything that exists so their soul may finally be at peace if you look at things from their perspective the cetra might not be as innocent as the lore made them to be
Per the game, the Gi's homeworld belonged to a different star; the Planet's star subsumed the Gi's star, which doomed their homeworld. The survivors sought refuge on the Planet, but the Lifestream rejected their spirits.
This song is great and all, but god damn do I not envy your play style if you have only learned stardust ray on Red by well over halfway through the game
Yes, it builds pressure on his stagger meter this time instead of killing him, which would be too easy and wouldn’t really work in this game if it still one shot him. But still cool that they kept some aspect of that mechanic from the OG regardless
