I’m sorry you’re having such a tough time getting into a house. It’s really is insane that you could have months of correspondence just to be dropped or ignored for weeks. Putting so much love and good energy into the universe for you!

In California it's pretty common for landlords to want to hear from the last five years of previous landlords. They run credit checks, background checks, landlord references, etc. I went through less getting federal jobs and clearances.

Time for chamomile tea and to focus on what is in your control, not on what's out of your control. I say this because my husband and I have moved many, many times and the uncertainly of the next home and then, moving into that home is stressful. I have learned to be grateful for a roof over my head and to take it one day and sometimes, one moment at a time. I hope you can find your chamomile tea. It really helps me to be calm.

All of the delays made sure you weren’t already moved into the new house when that happened! I think the stress of this may have been the safer path for you all and it will start to get easier for you now.

I would leave the wood natural. It’s gorgeous!

I am a firm believer in things working out the way they are supposed to and that there is always a reason for things like this. Believe it will work out as it’s meant to. I know it’s stressful and not fun. In time, you will discover the reasons for all these delays. Maybe this will allow the home owner to improve the home due to it being broken into.

when similar things like this happen to me, I take it as the universe has something else in store for me, or maybe I have unfinished things that need to be done before I can move on maybe this is whats going on with you because it seems that a few thins keep blocking your path to move out ;) for instance the houise you are speaking of was broken into, maybe a message in that alone

I wouldn't paint that beautiful antique wooden dresser. I would have left it brown and used green as a vine in that spot. Good look in finding housing. I know it's hard. I live in south east and the prices are high. Finding places even with no dogs is hard. Good landlords and safe places. Good luck.

I jumped through hoops to get a house once. Road block after road block. I went through so much to get the home I was absolutely dead set on getting. As hindsight is perfect vision, I now know there was a higher power trying to protect me from that nightmare I purposefully put myself into. I learned to not ignore signs and roadblocks. It especially worries me that the house was broken into. That happened to me as well, but I was unfortunate enough to be in the house when the rocks and bricks started flying. I hope your experience is different. You've been through so much and you deserve the best. Just make sure all these issues aren't a sign. Blessed be❤

Maybe the universe is telling you to stay put.can you do a month by month rental where you are until you do move? That dresser is an amazing treasure! I do tend to cringe at painting old wood as value gets lost. Your dresser might be an eastlake.

If you are renting, take the very first that you get. You can move into the rental of your dreams another month. Right now, just get a place, however terrible it is, and keep a roof over your heads. Talk to your current landlord and see if you can get an extension of three months.

It seems like every time you speak about your current bldg, you always have something nice to say. A house will give you the space you all need and deserve, but I'm grateful that the bldg and MGMT have been able to offer you beauty and kindness since you got there. I have a Staffordshire and know the troubles of renting with the world having a bias against your babies. This market is honestly terrible. I looked for a house for over a year, seriously for about 5 months. Jumping on every opportunity we could find. It was probably harder because we were looking to buy rather than rent, but dear gods. Dealing with mortgage companies, realtors, banks, they looked at my school history, the rental company I used when I studied abroad, my credit score, my debt to income ratio, my parents history, how long we lived in homes... it was exhausting. But in the end we found the most amazing house. You will too. It's a long road but you'll get there.

I am sorry you’re dealing with all of the stress, the uncertainty and unknowing of it all. I can kind of relate. Last year, I went through the stress of having to find a new place, our rent was going up and we couldn’t afford to live there anymore. I was struggling financially and was barely able to pay rent as it was, when we got our new lease agreement there was no way I was going to be able to make that work. I was holding out hope on a house that a friend had for rent, but her current tenant was not leaving like he thought he might. It was difficult to find something affordable and not a dump. The property manager of our old apartment was also the manager of another building within the company and said that there was going to be an apartment available after being renovated. It was going to be ready at the end of May and though our lease was to end at the end of April they let us stay there until it was ready. It ended up being the first part of June when we were able to move. It was very stressful of the uncertainty of when we would be able to move because they didn’t have a clear timeline. We needed to line up help and run to U-Haul and all that sort of stuff so I basically gave them a date and said we had to move then. it all worked out and I’m so lucky that we had a good property manager, but still very stressful.

I rented a house and the owners sold it with me in it!, I had to move out immediately, where I live they don't respect much laws or agreements so yeah 😢 it is so draining not being able to afford our own house I wish everyone could and just live happy

It's a sad fact of life that we actually rely on our dogs for more than just love and companionship - they are also our guardians and home protectors in a sense. Hopefully once you've moved in having your two loveable pooches will be a deterrent to future issues with break-ins. All the best!

Finding a home and moving is very stressful. We thought we had finally found the home with everything we wanted...only to start finding out within the year that so much had been covered up and had terrible repairs done that weren't showing. It has been a nightmare.

Been in rough situations to do with keeping a roof safely over my head, and the stress of packing in a short time, hving things packed up that you planned to have it not packed long and in the meantime disorganized and almost everything packed, and not knowing the next step/no certainty. I have to admit I am concerned you mentioned one house got broken into? it makes me wonder how safe it would be then..., basically I am just wishing you safety and protection as well as goodluck. I hope things are trying to merely mke way for the best course for you. Even your current landlord is supportive. That's great. The fact that you were able to get a month extension of your rent in your current house might look as a small thing, but maybe it's a sign that everything is working as it should. I’m sorry to hear that you are going through all of this. As for renting to people with dogs, I don’t know what the laws are in other states, but in Connecticut, the landlord is responsible for the actions of his tenant’s dog. Most insurance companies would prefer that a unit/house is not rented to anyone with a dog because if anything happens that involves the dog, the landlord’s insurance has to be liable. Our landlord, who also rents out the house next to ours, was sued by another neighbor because this tenant’s dog attacked said neighbor and their dog. Our landlord had no clue that he was the one who would be held responsible. The whole incident skyrocketed his insurance and, lesson learned, he won’t rent to anyone with dogs now. Most landlords are not even aware of that law in our state.
