We really love this class ship on HAL. The music walk, the Lido pool area (covered on wet/cold cruises), and the specialty dining are all fantastic. Thank you guys for the tour!
I'm learning to love these Pinnacle ships!! It helps that they are laid out the same for those of us that are directionally challenged!! And Tamarind is by far my favorite restaurant on ANY ship!!
I always wondered who the h3ll drinks sparkling water lol. That stuff is horrible. It's like carbonated fountain drinks. And now that you've connected it for me. I'm thinking sparkling water drinkers have to be beer drinkers or would-be beer drinkers. It has to be the same palate. 🤮😂😂😂
I am glad you love the Rotterdam. We will sail her in September 2023. This will be our second time. I learned some new places and things to try. Love your videos.!!
Club Orange isn't just for suites. Anyone can pay the fee and do CO. It can be worth it if you deliberately book something like an obstructed balcony, then do CO and it'll include an upgrade to better balcony. We did not do it--but it's not outlandishly expensive. And they get one more entree choice for dinner, and their dinners come out faster/hotter than mdr.
I am so excited to check out Holland America after watching your videos!! We love music and I’ve been pleasantly surprised to see how cool that ship is!! Thank you!!!
I have never been on this class, been on the Westerdam, New Amsterdam a couple of times and the Oosterdam. They are all basically the same. I would like to try one of these ships because while they are a bit bigger and some of the venues are expanded they are still not huge by todays standards. Always have a good time on HAL. The Blues club is amazing.
Def try the Pinnacle class. We have been on the Westerdam, Niuew A and Eurodam. We went on the Nieuw Statendam and loved it. Already booked same suite for 2025. Love this HAL class of ships.
@@norayancey4282 I keep looking at upcoming cruises but currently have two booked on celebrity. Next one, which may be in between the celebrity ones will probably be back on HAL and on one of these newer ships.
Thanks for sharing your journey and love the Pinacle class ships and the Rotterdam is my favorite. You only forgot to talk about my favorite before or after dinner drink place and it’s the new Half Moon bar. I think they should add this new venue on all its Pinnacle class ships. ❤
The pictures that are on the walls look amazing and to use the music tapes.😊If I sing I sound like Davy Jones from the Monkeys. He had a great voice. Thanks for the tour. Cheers.!
Great reviews on Holland America, we will be trying it on our next cruise because we recently did a MSC Divina and it suck. By the way what happened to your RV?
we (and others based on partly eaten food I saw) thought the 'bossche bol' (big chocolate covered puff) was kind of overrated, not really that rich or decadent, but the marble cake and apple cake at the GDC were really good. None of it is 'bad', but the bossche bol dough and filling are not really the same as an eclair, as we had been lead to believe.
Just disembarked from the Rotterdam 6 night. Lot's of good and bad, but overall was good. The Lido buffet seemed to have a problem with hot & cold. Things that should have been hot were room temp, and things that should be cold were room temperature.
Always love your reviews. We just got off the Koningsdam and are going on the Rotterdam in a few months. We did Tamarind on this past cruise. I got the lamb as well - too gamey for me, so my husband graciously gave up his dinner to switch with me. Definitely going to try the coconut chicken next time :)
My wife and I were also on the Rotterdam Southern Caribbean cruise March 8-18, 2023. I can actually see myself in your video during the Billboard Onboard piano performance. I spent a lot of time watching those piano shows.
Great Video - I'm sailing on the Holland America Rotterdam in October, the ship looks beautiful. I was afraid it was too formal, but didn't look like it was.
That red curry chicken in coconut cream is by far one of the best dishes I've had on a ship. I ordered it in Tamarind on Rotterdam and requested to make it "hot and spicy' because that’s how I roll. I coughed after every bite seriously and ate every last drop. It was so good
I'm SO glad you tried HAL! We're just about to head to Hawaii on HAL, a "bucket list" cruise for us. My in-laws are top tier HAL "Mariners" (they do "World Cruises" that last for months), and they were so excited that we're "finally" moving from exclusively DCL... to DCL & HAL. We're definitely art, theatre, live music and history/culture geeks, so HAL is ideal for us. The tiny differences on cruises really do add up - good coffee, hygiene, culture centered treats/foods, history and cultural activities, fresh flowers, happy crew, luxe toiletries, and no nickel-and-diming passengers to death. As a disabled cruiser, HAL is far more accessible above other cruise lines, except maybe the first 4 DCL ships. I know many folx think toys like rock walls & go-karts are most important, but for millions of us accessibility, support, acceptance and safety matter SO much more than toys we can't even use 🤷 I hope to see you on board some day!
You guys make me want to book a cruise on Rotterdam! Love the new art pieces! The upcharge for lobster is a new thing 😕 Pretty sure those were not sesame seeds on the ribs in Tamarin :) Not sure what they were :D Hope you tried the chicken wings at New York - they're SO good (at least on Koningsdam they were really good)
I was on Rotterdam a couple months ago, and while it was a very nice ship, there is an issue with the air flow on deck 2 and 3 forward. Deck 3 forward has the casino, so there's smoking in there. Deck 2 forward has Billboard on Board and the rock music venue. However, the issue is the spiral staircase between Deck 2 and 3 forward. Because of the air system, that hole in the center with the spiral staircase creates a vortex that draws the cigarette smoke from the casino into the venues on Deck 2. It makes it unpleasant for anyone sensitive to airborne irritants, like my asthmatic self.
@@EECCTravels yeah, it's a major design flaw with the Pinnacle class that doesn't exist on the other ships. The spiral staircase is elegant, but it does create air flow problems.
We were on Rotterdam over Christmas. It was great. I think it was sold out b/c they had a good deal on 3rd and 4th passengers in the room. They had a great half priced happy hour at the Billboard bar pretty much every day, and those guys gave really heavy pours! I really like Hal, the only negative is that I think they are slower to change out their shows and I'm told that they do the same shows on all the ships. But I'd still do any Pinnacle class again of course.
AWESOME video! Now retired our favorite cruise line is HAL we moved over from Carnival pre COVID. We really enjoy the serenity at the Crown's Nest. OMG the food is amazing on HAL. Thanks for sharing with us. We have a long wait for our next HAL cruise....Jan 2024 18 days to Hawaii! AHA...love the blackberry lemon!
