My buddies and I entered the LBS in 86-87, I finished 23rd overall. Baker was our home mountain and getting to ride or bullshit with a number of pro’s from Donnelly, Ranquet, Turk, Fulton, Amy and yes Kelly was a huge motivator. You seen them ride for so many years that you could point them out by their style. A buddy of mine and I decided to head up to Baker midweek in 2002, we were just getting ready to load Chair 6 when I looked over to the right and mentioned to my buddy “check it out, that’s Kelly”. My buddy had never met him so after saying hello to Craig I introduced him to my buddy, it was like meeting his biggest hero. We never thought that would be the last time we seen him alive. Ride In Peace Craig
I would bet a hundred dollar bill I could beat every snowboarder in that race with a fresh tune up on my skis daily. If I can make it out there next year i'll beg them to at least let me do a test run while their still set up.
