Also! When she says "why are you drunk?" She's not necessarily judging him for being drunk, she's upset that he knows her brother was JUST killed by a drunk driver, and he got drunk in front of her anyways.

I remember seeing the title on the tv guide and convincing my mom to watch it with me since we both loved Lizzie McGuire. BIG MISTAKE. My mom lost a brother when she was a teen, she cried so much while watching this movie, it made me feel so bad 😅

I saw this movie in theaters years ago with my sister. I did NOT expect it to be so sad. I haven’t watched it since. Just like Bridge to Terabithia. Didn’t expect that one to be so sad either.

I watched this movie when I was younger with my family. It was sad, but I couldn't fully empathize. I watched it about a year after my brother passed and it wrecked me. We watch movies and hear songs about not taking the people you love for granted, but the message doesn't really sink in until someone you love is gone. Beautiful movie, beautiful message.

I really enjoyed this movie when I first watched it. It reminded me so much of my school, which was focused on arts and music, with all the constant practicing around. I also really liked how Terry wasn't this outstanding singer, but actually had to practice and was defined more by her passion and less by being the next Mariah Carey. We actually see someone, who was the big fish in the small pond, struggle once thrown in with many other equally or more talented people.

This movie definitely has some American conservative Christian undertones. The dad's overprotectiveness is very familiar to anyone who grew up in this environment, especially for girls. And the blanket demonization of LA as a corrupting influence

i appreciate stef’s comments about teachers/professors and understanding that physical health isn’t the only kind of health that can disrupt your ability to function. i will say that, having attended college through the pandemic (though not at a music school, so it’s def not a one-to-one) i’ve seen a big change among professors in acknowledging this. hopefully we’re moving in the right direction

ah, how they used to switch out hillary duff's voice with her sister haylie's and having it be SUPER obvious lol. the classroom scene at about 38:15 is so clearly 2 different voices. they did that in the lizzie mcguire movie, too, when they needed a richer/deeper voice than hillary's

I love this movie! 1:04:51 I think what she meant here was that nothing will compare to that moment for what it means for her, getting through the whole performance, being able to sing in front of people in a stage after everything that happened!

Hillary Duff, Amanda Bynes, the Olsen Twins, Macauley Culkin, Thora Birch, and Christina Ricci were my movie stars growing up. I only regret that many of them had such a hard time growing up in the industry.

My brother and sister in law got me this on dvd when I was 12 or something because I was so passionate about singing at the time. Loved this movie. They also got me "Ice princess" because I liked ice skating. Loved that one the best, watched it sooo many times!

At my uni, we had a jam every Friday. It was always a full band and at least 2 vocalists. We’d all take turns picking different chord progressions and sometimes our lectures would join in as well. This is probably my favorite Hilary Duff movie cuz it was such a different type of movie she was doing at the time (at the time she was at the highest peak of her career with her music and work on Disney Channel) i thought she’d become a huge movie star after this. At leasts she’s having a resurgence with How i met Your Father, which she’s HILARIOUS in.

The picture them naked bit is just a way of saying, ‘See them as vulnerable and/or humiliating themselves so you feel more confident being there.’ We’re all human. In the moment it’s easier to imagine something physical, than the concept, ‘I am worthy.’

27:50 was definitely my experience in uni, they expected basically perfection when even learning. It really wore me down, the burnout after I graduated was REAL, didn't even listen to music for a whole year.

16:16 "That is kind of a lot." Sending your 16 year old to LA for several weeks is a lot. So it blows my mind now that I'm an adult with a kid, that my own parents sent me on a 3 week study abroad to Aus and NZ when I was 16. And I fell in love with both countries so much that in college, at 18 I took a full semester around in Australia again. And my parents never batted an eyelash over it... that I know of.

As someone who had both a personal vocal instructor and a high school choir teacher at the same time, cannot agree more with the sentiment that band teachers are quite demanding when they're not vocalists themselves. They have hardly any idea how a vocalist uses their voice the first two or three passes of a song and don't care that the singer is attempting to learn it before they can perform it. I don't know why this is the case, but from my similar experiences, it's just plain true.

I love this movie growing up it is one of my favourites from Hilary Duff just like a Cinderella story 😁😁😁 this one always makes me emotional especially with Paul’s death from outer nowhere and him being the perfect older brother that believed in his sister and being the role modal for Terri on her journey at the school same goes for her Aunt❤️❤️❤️ I also love that Terri and her Dad mended there relationship and he let her be happy and performed 😁 also I love Someone watching me one of my favourite songs from Hilary she just sounds so amazing 🤩🤩🤩 it’s great that you could upload this again and glad that someone finally reacted to it because it is an amazing film can’t wait to see what you guys do next😁😁😃😃😃😉😊

I was in a children’s choir and then was in my university chorus but I didn’t make the a cappella group in campus yet they were basically all in my same chorus. My teacher was great though and it really helped my technique. But since I haven’t done much structure practice since leaving college my boca abilities while I would say are decent is no where and good as it was in my early 20s. I really have wanted to join like a community chorus or something near where I live because I do find it fun to be in a chorus. It’s nice and not anything like my day job.

Every time I watched this movie- I BAWLED. I was listening to your guys’ commentary and as soon as the car accident happened I started tearing up (yes I cried- again).

I always loved this movie & its super underrated imo people talking about Oliver James' hair like it wasnt early 2000's & he wasnt british XD he looks much better now lol poor guy has this travesty on record @43:20 I also love the 'please get out now' music but the best 'play me out' has gotta be Sharpay's "give me a beat" in HSM2, ICONIC. @47:50 as a woodwind, I agree, but I know that's how people feel about me too lol but there's something about the brass section, just has woodwind, percussion & string side-eying them @1:02:45 dude that guy looks like my friend who's a bassist lol, I think everyone knows some guy that looks like that, that's in a band...
