As the war with the Diamond Kingdom reached its final stages, Princia's family and people from her land were taken hostage by the enemy. However, the generals, fearing that Princia would leave the front lines, decided not to tell her this. Thus, Princia lost something precious in exchange for victory... Princia, exploding with anger towards her strategists, got stripped of her title as Wizard King and imprisoned with her magic sealed. The village where she was imprisoned got attacked one day by bandits, whom she decided to fight despite her magic being sealed, sacrificing her life in the process. • Edward: Edward was a man with a promising future, but he had no interest in pursuing a career and spent most of his time in church listening to the sermons of priests. When he learns of the harsh conditions faced by those without magic power, he decided to leave his home and become a priest, taking in orphaned children and caring for them. Ten years later, in the midst of intensifying war with the Diamond Kingdom, a sudden tragedy happened. Edward's orphanage fell victim to an enemy raid, and the children lost their lives. For the first time in his life, Edward used magic with all his might to destroy the enemy, and decided to join the magic knights to prevent such a tragedy from happening again. What i like about this 'Villain' is he didnt forced the Revived Wizard Kings to obey him or use them as pawns. They willingly chose to help him and both sides acknowledged and respected each other.

Noelle really shines in this movie and her moment with Edward was really something special. Especially with her being a royal who also has hopes and dreams as well to do something about this country.

Really one of the best anime movie I've seen. It's worth the wait and didn't disappoint... I legit cried on how beautiful this is especially on the part when Haruka Mirai starts to play 😭 PEAK!!!

Tabata sensei supervised the film, and it is actually canon to the Black Clover storyline! Apparently he wanted to include this in the manga, but decided against it but it later was used as the film we have today. Canonically, it takes place between Vol.23 and Vol.24 - the end of the Elf Saga, and the beginning of the Spade Saga, during the 6 months time skip. iirc those who went to see the first screenings of the film got Vol.23.5 which contains the backstories for the 4 previous WKs.

1:08:20 As far as Fuego being Mereo's rival, she did say "Unless I stay the strongest." Its fair to assume that if she stopped growing stronger, then Fuego could surpass her with time. I think she is trying to raise the bar so that anyone who strives to become the "strongest" will have to work even harder for it. She is the "Kenpachi" of Black Clover if you ask me.

I like the fact that in the end no one of those wizard kings got defeated, the three were out because the sword was out of magic, and conrad gave up in the last second because he remembered his wife ans stuff so he didn't go fully on with his last attack

Those who don't know, Mereoleona's new form which she used to fight that female wizard king is not something she obtain out of nowhere. In the manga it's actually her new power/spell called 'Fire Magic: Hellfire Incarnate'. After the Elf arc, during the 6 month time skip she goes back to the Ultime-Volcano Mountain and train in lava to obtain this new power. That power is not some asspull but cannon.

Asta slishing that asteroid is a major forshadowing what he's gonna do in the upcoming spade kingdom war arc, when he fought 'Nahamah' and 'Lilith' (2 suprime level devil).

Asta speech towards the other Magic knight was a sight to see, a future Wizard King motivating his people to keep pressing forward together, loved that part of the film.

This movie just hits at all the right stuff for me, loved the parallels between Asta and Conrad and how that thematic was explored with their clash of ideologies.

Here’s backstory of all the wizard kings we didn’t see in the movie but was in the novel. 11th wizard king princia: she was from fallen noble family. Greedy nobles kept bullying the family taking lands and possessions. After acquiring grimoire she became member of blue rose squad where she never lost single battle. Fearing her powers royalists made her wizard king. After the war with diamond kingdom reaching final stage princia’s family were taken and killled by the enemy however this was kept from her because they didn’t want her to come back from war. After she defeated the diamond kingdom she returned got the news of her family’s death, she became so enraged the nobles sealed her magic and left her imprisoned in a village where bandits attacked she fought them without magic and died fighting. Fun fact: it was because of her diamond kingdom didn’t not dare initiate full scale war on clover kingdom ever again in the future, they only plot and attack key locations secretly. Jester: a noble who lived good life, he befriended someone named tenor from a village near the borders of diamond kingdom and raid a commoner, one day as magic knight captain tenor’s village got attacked by diamond kingdom. Jester went there despite the kingdom not approving he and raid got there late and his friend tenor got killed. After becoming wizard king due to his achievements, Tenor’s village got attacked again jester went there again to protect his deceased friend’s village but it turns out to be trap set by his other friend raid who was diamond spy. Losing both friends jester decided to make conquest against other kingdoms he was called the mad king, the nobles didn’t like that and they set a trap for him where he lost his life in the process. Edward: Edward was skilled wizard but didn’t pursue his career instead he used to go to church to listen to seminars to spread christianity in clover kingdom he listened to how the weak must be protected then he loved the religion and became priest himself where he had orphanage protection children but the orphanage was raided by diamond kingdom and the children got killed. This pushed Edward to use his magic powers to annihilate the enemy. Time went by he became wizard king and then he wanted to make a system to combine nobles, commoners, and royalists. Nobles didn’t like that so they retaliated and his status as king was revoked. Angered Edward wanted revenge against those nobles he gathered loyalists to his goal and decided to attack nobles. He was captured and eventually executed for his actions. Fun fact: he spread Christianity around the kingdom built so many orphanages. Without his achievements asta and yuno wouldn’t have gotten a home. Man these nobles and diamond kingdom are life ruining people lol.

My cannon is that at the end of the movie, Sister Lilly demanded to stop the fight because they were going to destroy the village... again.

In my opinion, the thing that I learned from movies like this, villains are commonly rational and philosophical beings who experienced the true nature of the world. Compare to the main characters who use morals and heavily dependant on their feelings in way of resolving things, villains are logical beings that usually experienced more suffering and unfairness of the world. They just lose because of the common idea that they are ungood and immorals in terms of human emotions, and of course they are not the main character in the first place that's why they always lose in the end. Can't blame the previous wizard kings.

One of the few shounen anime movies where the main villain's cronies are not complete pushovers who are just there to give the side characters someone to fight with.
