🎦 About This Video:
This is probably a bad idea, but the whole point of this channel is to live out lout, to authentically sharing my story as I'm going through this. But I'm aware that some people might misinterpret this and get offended. That is not my intention, but it's a risk un willing to take because it would feel wrong to NOT share this experience.
▶️ About This Channel:
I've always been a storyteller. I've written hundreds of short stories and multiple books, but I always sensed I was meant to share a different story.
MY story.
I wasn't sure what that was until I was diagnosed with STAGE 4 Alveolar Soft Part Sarcoma (a SUPER rare type of cancer for which there is NO CURE).
I decided to embrace my motto of Living Out Loud and started sharing my journey in vlog format.
This is my story. Real. Raw. Unfiltered.
✅ How To Help:
If you got value (motivation or entertainment) from this video and want to support me, there are a few ways you can do that:
1️⃣ Subscribe, comment, and share this video! That ALWAYS helps!
2️⃣ Donate to the FoGundMe my friend created for me when I was first diagnosed: gofund.me/d0e8...
3️⃣ Visit my author website and buy one (or all) of my books: gsauve.ca/

A short daily update obviously doesnt give us the full story. Given that you have stage 4 cancer it isnt abnormal that we in hearing about escalating symptoms imagine things to be worse perhaps than they seem to you or actually are. We dont know everything you are doing so perhaps we are missing some info. Those of us who have had experience with Cancer either as patients or caregivers know that sometimes side effects or symptoms in stage 4 can be disastrous. Hence the “ over”reaction( from your point of view perhaps). May I ask If you have had prior experience with Cancer either as a family member or close friend? Just wondering as I think that affects our perspective sometimes. Anyway, I get what you are saying here. IMHO we all need to take into account the fact that we arent fully aware of your situation because it is impossible to get the full picture from a short update. I trust you know best how to handle this.
@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C

No, I don't have any prior experience with cancer. However, I'm aware this type of thing can often be more difficult for the people around than the person who has cancer. That's why I do my best to respect the people around me and make this as easy for them as possible. It's just difficult to do that through a camera lense. But I'm doing my best.

I don't have cancer but I have MS. I have had it for 15:35 40 years. Having lived with it for so long, I am attuned to my body and disease and I know when I need to go to the ER and when the whole process of going to the ER will exercebate (sp) the disease process I am going through. I’ve bee watching you recently and my heart goes out to you. My daughter had brain tumors. I spent years chasing down doctors and nurses. They mostly were at a loss to do much. I took over giving over the counter meds. It was impossible to get help. Had to wait for hours for doctors to prescribe precious pain pills. Going to urgent care,pretty useless when you have a serious diagnosis. It’s the same treadmill,MRI s cat scans,blood pressure,take useless vials of blood. When you are out of touch, you reccomend hospitals,doctors, we are on our own.People think doctors are saviors. all we can do is handle symptoms as they arise.I am so sorry people judge you when you know those solutions are often dead ends.I did pray my child thru the awful journey and handled the symptoms as they came up. I think you are wise to use your own body signals to dictate the best avenues to live with this lonely. Journey. not many people get it. I certainly do.

So please don’t be worried for us, try to keep your strength for facing all your problems. I read different comments: most of them whished you the best and really hope for your health to improve . @LivingOutLoud-LWS4C

Unfortunately, that is generally how ERs work. Either they send you home or they admit you. Specialists are the ones who can truly help, and that usually means being assigned to them as a patient. If you don't already have a team, the ER can be a good first step, but if you already have specialists following you, going through them is usually the most effective option.

I don't think you're an idiot at all. I do think you're stubborn. But that's not a bad thing at all, especially as you're fighting this. I will tell you the one thing that confused me the most is when you said you take one Tylenol. I just can't imagine that doing much, but maybe it's a different type of Tylenol--I don't know! I just know that when I hear that as your pain management I feel concerned. Hell, I took two Advil this morning for an earache and I don't have cancer. I'm glad you do recognize everyone was posting out of concern, not thinking you're sitting around doing nothing. I hope you're feeling better today!

Hahaha. Yeah, I'm definitely stubborn. But being married has taught me that I must do what's best for my health as that is also what's best for my wife and our future together. A patient can still be receiving chemo, or whatever treatments are necessary to fight the underlying disease. it is by no means “giving up.” to receive Hospice Care, you cannot be undergoing treatment for your disease. different from Palliative care, but much crossover.

Am glad you acknowledged these repetitive comments come from a place of Love and Concern. I hope you realise also that since none of us are there observing you, we are basing our assessments of your situation on what you are telling us. In one video you looked and sounded particularly bad. I don't think we over reacted because even your wife got the wrong impression when you communicated with her. It is not just the language barrier but also the fact that she has to imagine how you are doing based on what you tell her rather than seeing for herself. I know it wasn't your intention but I think you didn't give us the full picture e.g your communication with your nurse and team( the extent of it). You just focused on how difficult it was, which is natural. But that left us with the impression that it wasn't manageable and you weren't getting any help. There are gaps when communication online, " lost in translation" so to speak. Not your fault or ours. I am not offended by anything you said in this video but some are. Many of your subs are heavily invested in your progress. Praying for you, waiting everyday for updates. So I am going to be frank here Gui. I don't think it was a bad idea to record this video but I think you could have put it across more gently, in a way that would not have made some feel upset. I don't want to see you lose subs, especially those who genuinely care for you so I feel compelled to say that. To subs who are offended, let me say this. Bear in mind Gui is pretty ill so when he feels poorly he might not do the best job giving us an accurate or full picture . Can we give him some grace for that and not take things too personally?
@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C
@LivingOutLoud-LWS4C 3 месяца назад
I appreciate you covering all the different perspectives and doing it so eloquently. As you said, it's difficult to give an accurate picture of EVERYTHING going on through this format. Also, I think a lot of people going through difficult times upplay things to get attention or downplay things to protect those they love. I try to paint an accurate picture by sharing specific moments or experiences and I realize that means people must fill in the blanks themselves, which leads to a skewed perception of the overall situation. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to rectify this.

Thank you for letting us know that you have an excellent health advocate that you can contact. Having one makes all the difference when you are facing a serious health issue that needs management. Anyone who is expecting a personal response from you after leaving a comment may not be doing it for the right reasons. This channel is for you, for your encouragement, for you to share your journey and your experience. Not for viewers to glean warm fuzzies by recognition. It's a warm fuzzy enough to reach out and encourage someone who is going through a storm in life a word or two of encouragement, some unsolicited advice or a word of understanding. May God be with you and your family today and everyday. As far as hospitals are concerned, my saying is there is no rest for the weary there. I can't stand them and have to get home to recover from sleep deprivation after being in one. Not to mention being under horrible lighting and not being allowed to go outside when you want to for some Vitamin D3 or just to feel nature which some of us thrive on. And as you mentioned, the food you like, not the horror that most institutions present you. They just can't do food justice for a large population. God bless.

I can't answer that. I'm not a doctor. I don't have access to the medical statistics regarding this type of cancer (or any other). All I know is what my doctors told me.

I’m wondering if some of the confusion is due to the different medical systems. I’m in the US and we don’t really have an individual health care coordinator like you do in Canada. But don’t feel that you have to respond to comments. Also, I totally get not wanting to stay in the hospital. Plus, you can catch something from the hospital.

@@Simply_Sadie wow. My husband has cancer and it seems like he is searching when he needs care and he gets frustrated. He’s not in treatment yet so maybe that’s why. Watch and wait still.

Totally. We each have our own experiences and expectations based on where we live/ have lived and are used to. Having lived in 4 different countries- Malaysia, UK, Singapore and now Hong Kong, I have seen how it works differently in each country. To many of us the Canadian system seems to not be providing adequately for a stage 4 cancer patient. But I dont know if it is because like he says we arent aware of some of the support he is getting. Generally " free systems " like the NHS in UK are harder to access than Insurance based systems like in the US or Singapore provided you are adequately covered.

I hadn't thought of that. It's possible that people's perspective will vary depending on the medical system they have in their country. Thanks for sharing that 🙏.

It's your channel so nothing you post is a "bad idea". I think many people- myself included- were more worried with your "I give up" video and you being alone... but I get it, and I am sorry. I also totally get you not wanting to be in the hospital or ER (guilty of saying that too). I would be the same way so I am sorry for 'advising' you to do something that I wouldn't do myself. You are doing what YOU need- don't spend any time on the naysayers and the ones who are just miserable and want you to be too. We don't know your whole life and what you do every minute and we don't need to and you don't have to justify anything to anyone. We want to support you and listen to you when you need to talk- so I will "think before I type" going forward. I admire your positivity and your persistence- so please don't stop being YOU. 🤗🙏 and please know there is NO obligation to respond- taking care of yourself comes first♥
