Recent subscriber for Louisiana , US. Would love to see the light rod build. Thinking of building a BFS rod and would love to see how you would choose and pick components. Like sizing and placement of guides on a rod that bends pretty close to the handle. Here we deal with creeks and rivers with lots of trees and from your description of the light rod it may be close to what I am looking to build except for I really want to do a two piece rod . 6 ' or 6' 3" something that can be low roll cast or skipped in heavy tree lighned banks or kayak. With 1/8 ounce baits. Recently got a zephyr BFS reel and currently using a cheap zebco hotcast rod. Lol We don't have a big selection of BFS rods here everything either has to be shipped from overseas or cost quite a bit. If I am going to pay a bit I may as well learn how to build one.
Good morning. Just started watching your videos, they are very informative. I want to start building my own rods, want some special flare and details I haven’t been able to find on the market. I do have a question about the epoxy finishing. I have dome some epoxy work with wood so I am a little familiar with epoxy. I sometimes add color to my epoxy, using either dyes or Mica powders. Have you ever tried using colors to the epoxy on your rods and if so, how did it come out? Thank you. Jeff
I would have thought taking material off the tip would make the rod flex more towards the middle therefore creating a slower action. Im wondering if removing a couple inches from the butt would help the rod flex farther towards the butt on a fly rod blank
