It’s the opposite to local Filipino hiphop community, EZ Mil is too white to be Pinoy and that’s where he got the most discrimination from. Some would say that EZ Mil’s struggles doesn’t equate to the common people’s struggles. What do they know? All of us has our own struggles in life. EZ came from a broken family and experienced all the hardships growing up. Migrated to U.S for a better life. Drop out of college. He started working as a crew member in Burger King, and even went to train in Air Force to provide for his family. I don’t know why people wants to hate on this young man🤷🏻♀️
He feels discriminated in his home country because he looks white. (Doesn't look like a regular Filipino) When he says "I ain't Tisoy. I'm Pinoy!", Tisoy is slang for "half-breed" and Pinoy is slang for Filipino.
while it may be true that light skin is favored here in the Philippines, it's a different story in Olongapo City during the time when the US military base was still here. "Amerasian" kids are bullied because they were abandoned by their military fathers so there's a stigma being half-American during that time and since looks white, they probably thought he was one of those kids. thus, the bullying/discrimination.
EZ has Filipino parents but i think the reason why he felt discriminated against is because of the stigma that "Amerasian" kids experienced during those times when we still had the US military base in Olongapo City, his hometown. Amerasian kids are abandoned kids by their American military dads with their Filipino moms. they would get teased and bullied for that, and since EZ looks white, people probably assumed he was one of those abandoned kids. he said "i ain't tisoy, I'm Pinoy!". Pinoy is just a short term for Filipinos. Tisoy comes. from the Spanish word mestizo, who are half Filipinos and half Spanish (during the Spanish colonization of the Philippines) but as time passed by, it's become loosely used as someone with fair skin. that's what i remember from one of EZ's interviews, but i might be wrong. btw, EZ had the Spanish reference in this song because Spain colonized the Philippines for 333 years.
The fair skin is just a common thing in PH however, there are areas that will take that for you as half bred because its not common skin color...and the N word is just a common saying but in the states they get offended. In the PH the N word is just a plain regularly used word. The Tisoy and Tisay are the 😂 🤣 ones they used to make laugh
